I’m actually surprised they thought the first one was better. It’s almost unanimous that the second Shrek is one of the, if not, the best sequel of all time and the best in the Shrek series.

@@victoria_m13hat’s understandable. I just don’t think anything in the first one can beat the scenery, side characters or soundtrack of the second. I think Shrek himself was also more entertaining this film, in the first one he was moody and grumpy for 90% of the film.

The only problem with the second is that it began to lean heavily into the L.A/Hollywood satire aspect of it - something that the 3rd took way too far, but the final sequence with Bonnie Tyler was unbeatable.

Honestly one of my favorite animated movies of all time, they definitely took everything that was good about Shrek 1 and dialed it up to 10 with this one, plus the expansion of the world building is always a good thing as well

also, the female frog sitting at the bar where the King was looking for someone to assassinate Shrek, asked him do I know you, because before the King was human, he was also a frog, soo the King had some... Other fun before he met the current queen 😂😭

The king was a frog before the fairy god mother turned him human basically Harold and Lillian’s fairytale is the Princess and the Frog or the older titles “The Frog Prince”
We don't know _specifically_ how The Fairy Godmother "gave" King Harold his Happily Ever After, but it probably had something to do getting kissed by a princess because he was "The Frog Prince".
Shrek 2 has gotten even more intense. Donkey is still too funny, awesome songs, epic battles and more funniest moments

@AkinReacts there is an after credit scene that features dragon showing up at the end of the party and the reason why she was missing and acting moody was because she was pregnant and she gave birth to half dragon half donkey babies and donkey responds by saying that he needs to get a job now because he is a dad now.

The Latin Spanish dub is iconic in its’ own right. Even Antonio Banderas actually got to voice Puss in Spanish and not just for this film.

@46:53-@47:22 this didn’t age well, but it’s still funny. Instead of helicopters, we have hot air balloons. Instead of cars, we have horses with carriages. And of course there’s no cops with pepper spray but they are knights with pepper shakers. The title even mimics the font used in the actual Cops show.
When it comes to satire, one might say that "it didn't age well" _is the point._

What about Shrek The Third And Shrek Forever After The Final Chapter ?
How cool it would be if Shrek the Third didn't exist (not only because it's not a great movie lol) and Shrek 4ever after was the 3rd part.
In Shrek 2 Fairy Godmother tells Shrek that ogres aren't supposed to have their happily ever after. And what happens in the begging of Shrek 4ever at the birthday party? Shrek *doubts* his "happily ever after", gets mad, wants his old lifestyle back.

The creators of the sequel specifically addressed the question of what Dragon turned into in an interview, I believe they said she turned into a Pegasus.

If you guys fancy a test of endurance then I would recommend the Lord of the Rings trilogy - extended editions. However, that does add up to around 12 hours of cinema. However, big fan base and I am sure you'd love them. Might be a good option for cold days.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who thinks the first one is better.
I feel like this one backpedals Shrek and Fiona a bit, shrek’s a selfish jerk, and it makes Fiona out to be pretty dumb. She changes into a human, her voice is the same and she acts the same, meets Donkey who sounds the same and acts the same, and then meets Charming who sounds nothing like Shrek and acts nothing like Shrek, and she goes for it? Even as a kid I was just frustrated with this movie. Also not really a fan of how memey this movie is compared to the first one, which had so much heart and a really good original score, where this one’s just filled with pop songs. Idk I feel like this one’s overrated lowkey
