Fun trivia note: About a year before Toy Story 1 was released, the 4 guys in charge of Pixar got together for lunch & brainstormed ideas for other films they could make if Toy Story was a success. During that lunch, they came up with the ideas for Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life, Monster's Inc., Finding Nemo, & Wall-e.
One person: what if we make a second toy story but also a movie about the life of a bug🎉. Second person: what about a movie about a monster company or a fish losing his son.🎉 Third person: ROBOT LOVE❤🎉 Fourth person: genius guys, im writing all this down.
The girls real name is Mary Gibbs. If you look closely at her art work, you see her name. during recording mary was so young that she wouldn’t sit still, so they just let her play around the studio and recorded all the sounds she made.
Glad you decided to watch this movie... I always get interested when people watch Monsters Inc for the first time Also fun fact, for the voice acting for Boo, they just followed the Kid who voices her around while she played around the set (according to the DvD special I have of the movie)
Funny part about Mike always being covered by logo's / barcodes in the film. Lots of stores do the same thing, with discount stickers, labels etc. If they need to put it on something Monsters inc, like the dvd, lunchbox, water bottle when the film came out / monsters uni came out. Store workers would also put it over Mikes eye XD
At 18:41, the building originally exploded. You can find that scene pretty easily, but that scene was done almost right before 9/11 happened. After 9/11 happened, they went back and changed it to that green bubble thing to not cause outcry because of the explosions
Man, 2001-2002 was such a weird time for media. Almost everything that happened with even a little action got edited or changed in some way. It's understandable of course, but it's so crazy how many pre-9/11 edit cuts of stuff there is.
I love how quickly at 36:00 we're reminded what we're watching. These are monsters who's entire purpose is to terrify innocent children, they're not just physically monsters, they are monstrous and evil. But the movie so far is a comedy so we forget that. The reaction to that is PERFECT. Suddenly we're in the child's perspective, just like the first scene in the movie, which is creepy at first but once we realise what's going on is dismissed. But this 36:00 reminds you of that fear factor from the first scene and I love that.
pixars twist villians work because of the 100 years of disney animated films which established the norms that they break:) i think pixar stands out because they all came up as fans of disney and wanted to transform the landscape of what animated films were seen as. After all, animation is just the medium to tell the story, any of any age can enjoy and find something to relate to in these movies
I love the concept of their universe because the do not open portals with doors but instead use a form of time travel. They travel back into the past to scare kids , but the year that they are traveling back to has to be parallel with their timeline
@@lillyem3037 Theres a theory going around that the doors don't use dimensional travel (Like the Overworld / Nether in Minecraft, or the Earth and Xen in Half Life, or any other form of portal system like Stargate, Wormholes, or the Aperture Science Portal Gun) but instead, a form of time travel. So, using the time travel theory, there are 2 timelines. One (presumably) far ahead in the future, and one in modern day relative to the humans, and the doors bridge the gap between timelines. I think the reason why the theory even exists is because people found various easter eggs connecting different Pixar works together, like the Pizza Planet truck in Toy Story also appearing at Randall's banishment in this movie (Also, the shack is from A Bugs Life). It also appears rusty / dirty in Wall-E when EVE is rapidly scanning stuff shortly before being grabbed by the magnet. It *also* appears as a sentient car in the movie Cars, speaking of, the company logo for BNL from Wall-E appears on a racetrack in one of the Cars movies. The BNL logo also appears on the construction equipment in "UP" and Buzz's batteries in "Toy Story 3". So, this theory is called "The Pixar Theory" connecting all Pixar works together into a single timeline. There's even an entire website that I just found! To be more specific, people believed that the witch in the movie "Brave" *was* Boo from this movie, due to a wooden carving of Sully, the Pizza Planet truck, and the fact that her shack vanishes / reappears when it wants to. TL;DR - A popular theory called "The Pixar Theory" suggests that all Pixar films happen in the same universe, with the same companies such as Pizza Planet and BNL, and that the witch from "Brave" is Boo from "Monsters Inc", using time travel to have her cabin disappear / reappear. There's a website about The Pixar Theory that I found from a quick google search.
47:26 that was Mt Fuji in Japan. Love this movie it was a new world and well down world building. I wish the sequel was what happens next but it being on how to two friends meet was okay.
The voice for boo had lines but because she was only a three year old, she wouldn’t say them because she would get distracted. They decided instead to record her running around and work around with what they got. I also love that when 9/11 occurred, the next day Pixar’s team said no need to come into work unless you want to and you can definitely bring your kids if that makes you feel safer. They also quickly edited the scene with CDA after boo runs out of Harry housen. It was supposed to be a fiery explosion. After 9/11 they made the right decision to switch it to a force shield.
Honestly Sully should have beat Randall's ass when he chased them to the scare floor. It was an open and lit area with plenty of witnesses. Better yet Sully should have beat his ass when he captured Mike earlier. Randall was distracted and carrying something heavy. Sully had the upperhand there.
Great reaction! I really enjoyed watching this movie. It's very emotional, so much laughter and crazy actions. Also, Boo is so adorable, funny and very clever. Her voice actress, Mary Gibbs did an amazing job as Boo 💥👏😍😉😢🤣
I remember going to see this on a school field trip in the evening and I sat with two of the few friends I made in elementary school (I was a victim of bullying). This movie brings back some of the only fond memories of those times.
You should watch Finding Nemo next, not only is a great movie and really gives an appreciation for sea life, but there is also a little easter egg in the end credits related to this movie.
Fun Fact Theory: the reason why the Monsters are Afraid of the Children's hearing the words "Toxic, Dangerous, Acid" Is because one of the Monsters caught the Black Death Plague which the Monster has gotten sick, the Monsters think the Children's are Infectious/Toxic reasons they don't go Near them fully as they had thought about this For years, when they didn't realize the Plague had died a Long time ago.

Mikes says we because Mike is in charge of getting him the door and unlatching the canstiers when they are filled.so in a way, if Mike wasn’t great at his job sully’s numbers wouldn’t be high enough to be considered for the all time scare record.
Lol cool reaction. I loved this movie as a kid. Never gets old. If you haven't already my favorite animation was also 'meet the robinsons' super good. You all should react to that one.

As a kid, you think Roz has a weird obsession with paperwork. As an adult, you understand Mike's struggle.
As a kid, you're creeped out. As a teenager, you understand Mike's struggle (paperwork being the equivalent of homework). As an adult, you ARE Roz. XD
@@kaputt_jay3873 What, you didn't get homework as a kid?
@@ARCtheCartoonMaster By "kid" I mean young children, like five-year-olds. Lol

Yes! Check out Monsters University, Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Finding Nemo and Coraline as well.
It seems to me Pixar consistently does really good twist villains yet Disney twist villains aren't as good.

Monsters university is it's prequel, it's also worth checking out
Me I’ve always said the lesson in this movie is that there’s nothing more powerful then a child’s laughter.
I think there’s a theory that Boo grows up to be a time traveling witch, becoming the one from Brave (cuz there’s a wood carving of Sully in Brave)
I can imagine there'd been times a monster's been killed cuz one child got scared too many times and asked the older sibling to stay in the room.
See now y'all gotta react to Monsters University, see Sully and Mike live the college life
