@@alexandrepierrot9813 he talked about it (the video is "bleach tone: amp and pedal settings" at 1:06) plus this video at 0:33 Also it's an eastwood phase 4 hi flier
I think I heard something about him coming back to it and wanting to play it live again more before he passed? Like he asked Dale Crover for a bunch of old demo tapes from the bleach era and stuff like that
I think maybe Kurt felt he was out of his comfort zone vocally, listening to the track Kurts vocals seem unintentionally uneasy, not in a pleasing way either. (until you get to the heavy bit)
Sometimes, something you write might just get *way* too personal in retrospect, reminding you of a nightmare you had that you *really* don't want to repeat. That could be what happened here, but I don't know for sure.
@@TestMeatDollSteak or set a time bomb into the house it was first years I started to listen Nirvana I heard that song on a cassette tape I thought my player rolled the cassette
I think, If you had another Eastwood, the easiest way to get closest to a Univox, until you get one, would be to slap a Jaguar trem on it, practically the same mechanism as a univox, just doesn't have the look.
But that's probably more work than it's worth, because the Univox Jag-Style trem looks slightly different enough that, while the same thing, would look off.
At first I wondered why it sounded so good and then realised you're using a microphone! I think it will make all of your tones sound much closer because using the amps output usually just ends up sounding different to what you'd expect. Sounds great
I'll tell you, just when I think your channel could not get any better---you always prove me wrong! EXCELLENT and rarely acknowledged song. And as the norm--you absolutely nailed the tone perfectly 👌. Thanks for the amazing content and love you have for Kurt and Nirvana!!
Man, this track goes hard. The tone is so harsh and gritty. Not to mention that Kurt's vocals in the early years were on another level. Awesome rendition, I love seeing the odds and ends of Nirvana's catalog! Perhaps Beeswax soon? Hmmm
I so look forward to hearing your recreations, especially the early material. It would be cool to hear Help Me, I'm Hungry or Return of the Rat. You are such an inspiration to us Nirvana fans and definitely want me to play these as well. I really love how you included the delay effect, I always knew it was something, but not quite sure what it was. You sir, are a inspiration and genius your own right. Thank you for sharing and unlocking these secrets with us.
wow, this might be one of my favorite tone recreations from you, this is actually really well made! also yes i still find white guitars very tempting to consume.
I just came from your delay pedal video, and I want to thank you for covering this song! This song was actually my #1 spotify song for a while, so its nice to see it get the attention it deserves!!
Cool to see a tone recreation of If You Must. I genuinely don't see any co-relation between this song and Whitesnake, Kurt was probably just sick of the song for some reason and found anything to despise it more. Great recreation Eric, looking forward to more Reciprocal Recordings tone recreations.
I’ve never heard this song but it’s still cool hearing a really early Nirvana cut regardless, also the DM-2 is making think back to when I was at my local guitar store’s annual Boxing Week sale on New Year’s Eve and found an old Boss DM-3 (and when I say “old”, I mean one of the employees told me it was from around the late 1980s, which is definitely the oldest pedal I’ve seen alongside an overdrive pedal that I’ve never actually seen aside from guys like David Gilmour and Eric Johnson (BK Butler Tube Driver), which sounded surprisingly good for a pedal from the 90s)
Literally my most favorite Nirvana song ever!!! Even if Kurt considered it to be evil. I’ve also played it by guitar and didn’t even realize that he used a delay pedal to have that unique sound before the chorus… When he played it live at Tacoma, it hits so much differently…
Eric, I have a suggestion. Why don't you make a Nirvana setlist of your dreams? It would be pretty cool to hear your dream nirvana setlist with you explaining each song's reason while playing the riff in the background
Part of the reason Kurt was so hard on himself and his image, let's consider, was that he was very young after all. This is a kick-ass rock song with its own authentic charm. I think he would have softened up to it had he simply lived longer.
thanks eric for the great cover. honestly this is some of the best music ever. a great example of true underground rock. speaking of which you should listen to Burn the Rain on TheSun's channel. ive had it on replay for so long. a great song. also do a cover of kurt's 1986 home demos. (correct me on the year if im wrong) it would be super interesting!
You totally have to do an OK hotel 91’ tone video, you could use your k records Strat since Kurt used a black Strat with an angled humbucker at that show as well.
just like always, an amazing video of yours, congrats! you nailed this sound very very well, but i have a question, is there any record, or footage of kurt using the boss delay? like say, the sound of a live concert of that era or even a concert with footage where we know he used it?

Amazing cover and tone recreation as always, and i was wondering, are you planning on getting a mesa boogie studio preamp and crest power amp for the nevermind and in utero era tones, because if the nevermind and in utero tones already sound really good with the twin, what would it sound like with a mesa boogie and crest!!!
The best part about these covers is not only getting to hear the history of them and hearing it being recreated, it's also that since the camera just stays on the guitar for the most part, it's also a good way to learn the songs too lol

I’m just wondering, but I feel like (and this is just my guess) since they were on a tight budget during the “dale demo” and they wanted to get through all the songs of the session as fast as possible, he wouldn’t bother to change any tone settings throughout the session, but these settings you have are different to what you had for the dale demo songs in the bleach tone video. Just want to know your thoughts about it.
hey Eric, thanks for another great video! Im wondering if you have any Recomendations on budget echo flangers or poly chorus's. I really love the tone.
hey man, cool video! Could you do the nirvana tone from the show on 03/19/88 at the community world theater (the show with Dave Foster on drums) greetings from Recife - Brazil
Love those! Will eventually do both, but won't have them done in time for their anniversaries sorry. I'm working on a Dale Demo tone video for it's anniversary later this month!
Ahh okay I’m sorry, I totally misread that! I’m still in the same living situation, I just can only record with the Randall at certain parts of the day haha 😅
That cover was awesome 👌🎉🎊🥳🎊🙂 btw I have a request: can you recreate the tone of Mrs butterworth 1987 skid row rehearsal tape by nirvana? *btw the tuning for it is 1/4 up with standard tuning if your confused
Funny how Kurt disliked the recording. Maybe because he thought that it was a projection of himself when you read the lyrics but it does a catchy haunting tone to it. 🎃 Also this year will mark the 30th Anniversary of With the Lights Out Box Set 💿
Hey, are you self taught? I'm a rookie on guitar and was wondering if it's worth getting myself some lessons with a professional to start me off? Thanks.
