Barrel racing training - Getting faster in the turns

Learn how to get faster times by speeding up your barrel turns. Today we look at why it's important to not pull your horses mouth & nose around the barrels.
Joe and Mary-Anne are working on getting faster around the barrel by not turning Mary-Annes horses head around the barrels the same way she was. Joe (Professional horseman & Amateur cameraman) coaches from the sidelines as Mary-Anne learns a new way of moving her horse around all 3 barrels. By turning the horse at the ribs, the hips stay behind the horse which allows for smoother more natural turns followed up by better acceleration into the straights. Mary-Anne learned that by taking some pressure off the inside rein she can get faster turns and a happier horse!
