I understand a lot of your complaints, valid opinions. I'm one of the people who love this dlc (the amount of enjoyment I had was equal, and maybe even more than the base game). Sadly I think this dlc really does come down to play style and lore investment. I'm at the end of the video where you're talking about "okay but who is going to take the time to find these fragments?" Me man, I love the exploration. When I played the base game, everytime I was in a new area, I would just comb from side to side trying to find any and every secret, it's maybe my favorite part of the game. So with the dlc of course I did the exact same thing, and it felt even MORE rewarding to do so. I love dumb a** platforming random things like "there's no way this is intentional" and then boom, a reward. I got to radahn only missing 2 scadutree fragment. Even if it's not something I'll use, I'm getting an item description, and that's just fine by me. This dlc was big for lore and exploring, and that's my bread and butter. I understand your complaint with some spots being open and pretty but not a whole lot going on until you get to the point of said area. I felt that way with the base game too. The only reason it actually feels better in the dlc to me is because it is a smaller, more condensed version. Plus the environmental lore/story telling is also great. The only place I feel this is truly valid though is with the finger ruins. For such cool spots, what a let down. Still good lore, but barely. Under utilized for sure. I was also much more invested in the npc's this time around, seeing as they were easier to progress and the voice acting was just *mwah* (the npc battle was one of my favorite parts of the game, I had all the npc's you can have there and the dialogue and fight was just great, so emotional). I kind of agree with your rememberance boss take, although Romina I feel did deserve it because of the lore. I mean she was teased in the base game even, so cool. But Bayle not being a rememberance? Nah, you're right, that is insane. And finally, Radahn. I actually liked that it was prime Radahn. I won't say love because I was also holding hope that Godwyn might be a thing, but I never really believed it cause they really stressed the fact that he's gone gone in the base game. When I fought and beat base Radahn, I literally thought "man, that was so cool, and he was rotted. I can't imagine how sick it would be to fight full strength Radahn." Well, it was pretty sick. I love this fight, and I even agree with a lot of people that this is a stupid hard fight. But I want that. Not only is this prime Radahn, storied to be the greatest fighter in the game aided by his backpack twink, but this is the the final boss of the entire Elden Ring story. He should be an all powerful bs boss, and even then people have already found many ways to break him just like any other boss people hated before. And ik I'm an annoying broken record, but man the LORE. And the end of the day this really does just come down to how you enjoy a game, and this dlc was baked perfectly for me, and burnt for others. Ik I just spent this whole paragraph glazing, but I also think it's valid to not like it. If I didn't play the way I do, I probably would have a big problem with it. But luckily, I don't. Still not perfect, but close. 9/10 for me, I respect your 6.5 though. Already on my second playthrough of it doing a naked club only run. Wish me luck and keep up the good vids, you should have more subscribers! (FYI this was also my first fromsoft game)
My only complaint with the dlc is how they massacred the final boss. They gave him an AoE aftershock in every attack just to look cool without it being functional enough. They sacrificed the fight for the visuals, poor design imo. (And for people who will say that it's a skill issue, I've beat the boss couple of times without cheese buffs, op build etc, that's just my opinion for the enjoyability of the boss)
@@SoulsGaming_ i honestly wouldn't mind these crazy effects if they didnt drop my fps from 60 to 2. I really want to like this fight more than i do but i just cant because im fighting the fps not the boss.
In spite of coming from a completely different perspective (I love exploring and I kill bosses just 'cause they lock some areas) I find my feeling for this DLC very similar to yours. I describe it as a beautiful yet empty shell. I was extremely disappointed by the fact that burning the tree removed most NPCs' questlines in spite of being a thing we stumble upon quite easily. After arriving at Radhan I understood I had a lot left to explore but many quests had already been rendered impossible to complete and I spent hours trying to understand what to do until I looked them up and found out that I should not have burned that damn tree... The weapons are flashy and new, but I can't see them as anything different from the basegame ones. I have leveled many of them up to max and I have changed specs on my character to try them out 13 times now, yet I went back to the base game weapons I had before the DLC. The "throw" mechanic is interesting, yet almost completely useless.
Wow I didnt realize some quests were ruined if you burnt the tree, I appreciate you sharing this because I feel like whenever someone hears someone call the DLC bad they think its a skill issue when in reality theres a lot of in between problems that are overlooked.
Valid points tbh. Some bosses were very boring. Just NPCs. There are some NPCs that are harder than some bosses. Random loot in random places. From a lore point, some of them makes sense but others are just, “WHY!?” The hippo killed me and I’m hoping there’s more there but idk. I loved the Rahdan fight. We played a mentally crippled, war loving, man eating monster in the base game. This Rahdan is pre-Melania and of course he’s insanely hard. He’s sound mind, sound body with his boywife on his shoulder. 10/10 video for one of the best DLCs.
Very good video quality far beyond the view count but I heavily disagree with your opinion on a lot of the dlc I feel your opinion is very jaded to me this dlc is beyond a 10/10 most of the aspects you disliked are things I loved (the dungeons caves world bosses areas ext.) I similarly rushed through the dlc at first and was unamused with the lion and Romina but I slowed down to do quest lines and appreciate the lore of the dlc I think you were very harsh on most of the dlc but I could understand how as a veteran your standards are higher but to me this is all I could have asked for and more also nothing is worse than ark ai don’t lie to yourself 😭
Definitely their best work. Easily looks the best. Easily bsst level design. Its like big dark souls. Its beautiful. Whoa you went into the dlc with huge bars lol. I was 115, seemed about right.
@@wyldeman7 I think whats worth mentioning a lot of the issues in the DLC are from base game but since it's smaller the problems are a lot bigger than they were in base game
GREAT GGS MUSIC. Yeah, I completely agree. In my opinion, the base game was a disappointment for me as well. But the dlc is very questionable. The leveling system is poorly implemented. As you mentioned the arbitrarily hard bosses which was already a problem in the base game, but they just turned it up and ruined the game. Radahn is the first boss in any souls game ive felt like isnt fair im some cases. THE ONE MOVE in his phase 1 is undodgeable unless done frame perfect. After fighting through all that you get a reskinned weapon that is worse and its stats are contrary to those who is gonna use it. Additonaly reused dragons/other enemies constantly. Reused radahn for no reason. They try to make the game open world but they either re skin bosses and paste them everywhere (base game), or there is empty space with nothing, and it's just boring. I much prefer the linear games. Please, Miyazaki, just make dark souls. 4. These problems will never change tho because the community is fucking garbage. As a veteran souls player, it seems like there is nothing but a horrible future for the franchise. It's hard not to be to pessimistic.
A summary of his main points if you don't want to watch an hour long video: *Dungeons are bad* I personally don't like dungeons either, but I think the DLC dungeons are way more interesting then the base game ones, and definitely feel more like what I think of when I imagine a dungeon. *Dragon bossfights are bad* Where's your joy? Where's your whimsy? But in all seriousness I understand your point here, even if I don't agree with it. But still, dragon fights take up maybe 5% of the bossfights in the DLC. *Remembrance Bosses feel less impactful* I generally agree, it feels like they just slapped a remembrance on nearly half the bosses, but this is more a nitpick than anything. *Areas are too big and empty* Areas are big and empty in the main game too, it's a sandbox, it's supposed to be big and empty. *It's too easy to miss side content & essential upgrades* EXPLORE. This is more a problem of you treating it like a souls game and not an open world game, not a problem with the game itself. Don't get me wrong, Elden Ring is definitely a soulslike, but it's sandbox first, soulslike second. *It's too hard/bosses are unfair* git gud. *The final boss being Radahn is a let down* This is your opinion, and not an objective flaw of the game. A lot of people really wanted to be able to fight prime Radahn, and were super exited that he was the final boss. Also, he is similar to his main-game counterpart in name only, he looks and plays completely different. *Consort Radahn phase two is bullshit* I see where your coming from here, and I understand peoples criticism of this fight (most of which I feel would be resolved if they fixed the god awful camera in that fight), but it really leaves a sour taste in my mouth following an entire hour of (mostly) bad faith criticism. TLDR git gud scrub L + ratio + no maidens... (/j) But seriously, the entire video has this undertone of him being mad at how hard it is. Like he says he doesn't care about difficulty, but a lot of his problems with the DLC are about bosses being "unfair", and even his valid points are more fueled by emotion than any attempt to engage with the game meaningfully. Overall this video feels more like ragebait than an actual honest critique.
An hour and a half long video with you opinion spread seldomly in between no wonder it's going to get dislikes and hate. Could have made it even 15min and people would have maybe heard you out. Fact of the matter is this DLC is the size of some full titles that are far worse than 95% of this game. Please dont be a consumer who hates on a literal 8-9/10 game DLC when the market is saturated with ass AAA titles like suicide squad, skull and bones, Marvel Rivals ect. Gamers NEED more games like this; a game that has depth, graphics, gameplay and tons replay ability. I'm not saying your criticism isn't valid I respect your opinion but us gamers are in a DROUGHT please dont make more smooth brain consumers.
So me making the video long is a bad thing when almost all big souls content creators have long ass videos? Just because other games are garbage doesn't mean we shouldn't criticize this DLC, if you think it's 9/10 that's great, but there obvious flaws with the DLC.
@@GameitMicah Nope. Me mentioning the length of the video is saying probably less than 1% of people are going to here your criticism of the game cuz its scattered around a long video. A to the point video is a better way in my opinion to get a conversation started on your channel and bringing in new subscribers. Sure people like Asmongold or FextraLife can make super long videos because there more established. (No offense) My main point was we need to uplift games like this so we can get more of them instead of keeping people away. Because at the end of the day I'm sure even you know Elden Ring in its entirety is a masterpiece. Again I respect your criticism and opinions of the DLC but let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.
I see where you're coming from but I didn't want to make a quick easy video, I wanted to leave it up to if you want to hear me out you can hear my full story and if not, then you can take it at face value. I wouldn't have gotten less hate just because it's a shorter video, the souls community shuns any opinion that doesn't match theirs or the majority. Plus I feel like I had to include my whole journey to show how I ended up disliking this DLC lol
I'm coming back to this to make a rebuttal. You are allowed to dislike highly flawed games, because comparing it to generic sports games and such, like Fifa for example, isn't exactly fair. That gives almost any high effort, yet flawed project an absurdly inflated score, and I don't think the only games people should care about should have a score of 9 or higher. Micah's scale I feel raises the standards of what each number in the scale should mean, and most games which you consider to be "ass AAA titles", would also perform poorly by a more strict metric. Reviewers of cinema and music *usually* see a score is an abstraction of your thoughts on a piece of media, to explain where you'd put it relative to other pieces of media in that same form, or even beyond. Games are a bit more complicated, for the same reasons you explained. When you rate a game as art, it is much easier to give a lower score. When you rate a game relative to the industry to encourage developers to make larger and more innovative games, like FromSoftware's games, the scores get inflated drastically, partially so sports games don't get sent to the shadow realm. Almost all game journalists decide to take on a more lenient approach, because doing anything else would likely hurt their reputation. Most gamers can't account for people having different scales, and won't like it when they see that a reviewer gave their favourite game a 7/10. I think the best way to both encourage developers and raise standards, would be to give games like Elden Ring, which are more innovative, larger, and despite some flaws, very fun experiences, significantly higher scores than most, but still considering their flaws, and factoring that into the score. This will put a lot of games under the 5/10 threshold, but I would bite the bullet, as it actually reflects your thoughts on the game. I'm not saying Elden Ring can't be a 10/10, or that you're exaggerating if you call it a 10/10, but explain why. Ignoring flaws and spamming high scores could lead to studios like FromSoftware doubling down on the biggest problems with their games, when we should push them to grow.
@@milesmonacothesequel2294 The DLC is easily a 8-9 anyone who doesn't think that is the small minority. Not saying their wrong but I believe the hate that people carry for this game is a skill issue not a mechanic issue, story issue, graphic issue. ER at its entirety is a masterpiece and for the price you pay you get way more than the top 10% of all great titles. No game is a 10/10 but this is one of those ones that pushes close to it. If your bad at the game it makes sense why you wouldn't like it but don't make up some other excuse why its not a great game. I don't care for journalist reviews either but if you ask anyone who actually played ER a very small minority will say is a horrible game same goes for the DLC. If you suck at the game its your issue and we shouldn't be catering games to people who don't understand the mechanics. Id rather have tough enemies and hard bosses over a game that you could beat practically falling asleep.
After finishing the dlc, I gotta say it is very disappointing to me and I will explain why: -As a lot of people already complained, some areas are huge but empty, such as the cerulean coast, charo's hidden grave, and the most disappointing of all Abyssal Woods. A lot of missed potential there. Also most of the areas contain alternate paths and areas that ultimately lead to nothing. -lack of content for intelligence users. The fact that you get 10 consecutive faith weapons but no intelligence weapon made me more and more furious, which also applies for the myriad incantations in comparison to the sorceries. And even with like the 3 intelligence weapons we got, non are genuinely good, and the sorceries are very underwhelming. We got one ash of war which is overpowered, yes, but it is very boring and lacks any creativity. Not so fun fact, for the final boss, I literally didn't use ANYTHING we got from the dlc, I used wing of astel and base game sorceries, not a single new item. This shows how terrible From treated intelligence. -Talking about the final boss, the first phase was awesome and was gonna make it my favorite boss, then comes the 2nd phase that ruins everything. Too much stuff going on at the same time I could barely figure what the boss was doing, lag even though I have a ps5 with a fan accessory, too much moves that are barely dodgable especially with the thousand golden rays and the shadow clones that blinded the player, I feel like winning this boss depended mostly on luck. Well, at the end I defeated the boss (no summons as always) and was ready to witness a beautiful conclusion to the dlc, but, all we got was a flashback that served no story purpose, didnt introduce anything new, and didn't conclude anything. The dlc has no god damn conclusion, just... why? ANYTHING else would have been better than that flashback, I just don't know anymore man... -The fact that they still reused old boss models such as the tree spirits, the fallingstar beast, the tree sentinel, and worst of all the dragon Senessax which was just Lansseax and the farum azula dragon but with a different name. Dude, you could've at least added one new move, one small difference in appearance, but nope, sounds too hard. There are still a lot of amazing stuff in the dlc such as messmer, the dancing lion, rellana, romina, some amazing soundtracks and beautiful areas and dungeons, but that alone isn't enough to overthrow the bad stuff especially the ending, and the ending in any piece of media or game determines whether it was worth it or not, as the ending greatly affects the final opinion of something. Overall, the dlc is ok but definitely isn't worth 45 dollars. After all that titter-tatter, Elden Ring is still my favorite game and I won't let the dlc change that.
So the wrong thing about an open world game which is centered around exploration without map markers is that it rewards the exploration with upgrade materials?

Well said
34:48 MONSTER HUNTER PROOF OF A HERO, LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Some of your best editing in here! Fuckin awesome video Micah! Too bad the DLC isn’t so awesome…
Ayyyy thank you so much
In spite of coming from a completely different perspective (I love exploring and I kill bosses just 'cause they lock some areas) I find my feeling for this DLC very similar to yours.
Wow I didnt realize some quests were ruined if you burnt the tree, I appreciate you sharing this because I feel like whenever someone hears someone call the DLC bad they think its a skill issue when in reality theres a lot of in between problems that are overlooked.
great vid
From another Micah to another I agree
Hell yeah lol!
Real
Yeah you're being generous
This slop is 4 insta kills out of 10 at best 😒
Might be the worst level design of any of the games, lol. The game looks good, but that's to be expected from the newest game.
@@IgnisNPignis you didn't play the base game? It's a flat plain compared to this layered knot.
@@wyldeman7 I think whats worth mentioning a lot of the issues in the DLC are from base game but since it's smaller the problems are a lot bigger than they were in base game
@@wyldeman7 Just because there is an empty plain above another doesn't mean its good design.
audio desync :( 08:50
I fixed it though : (
GREAT GGS MUSIC.
Miyazaki put summons in the game he intended that true it’s OK to use summon are you doing a challenge run?
I messed up
Lol no I'm not but I do think it's absolutely okay to use summons and I think this DLC proved why it is
messmer was fun but imo way to predictable lol
A summary of his main points if you don't want to watch an hour long video:
*Dungeons are bad*
I personally don't like dungeons either, but I think the DLC dungeons are way more interesting then the base game ones, and definitely feel more like what I think of when I imagine a dungeon.
*Dragon bossfights are bad*
Where's your joy? Where's your whimsy? But in all seriousness I understand your point here, even if I don't agree with it. But still, dragon fights take up maybe 5% of the bossfights in the DLC.
*Remembrance Bosses feel less impactful*
I generally agree, it feels like they just slapped a remembrance on nearly half the bosses, but this is more a nitpick than anything.
*Areas are too big and empty*
Areas are big and empty in the main game too, it's a sandbox, it's supposed to be big and empty.
*It's too easy to miss side content & essential upgrades*
EXPLORE. This is more a problem of you treating it like a souls game and not an open world game, not a problem with the game itself. Don't get me wrong, Elden Ring is definitely a soulslike, but it's sandbox first, soulslike second.
*It's too hard/bosses are unfair*
git gud.
*The final boss being Radahn is a let down*
This is your opinion, and not an objective flaw of the game. A lot of people really wanted to be able to fight prime Radahn, and were super exited that he was the final boss. Also, he is similar to his main-game counterpart in name only, he looks and plays completely different.
*Consort Radahn phase two is bullshit*
I see where your coming from here, and I understand peoples criticism of this fight (most of which I feel would be resolved if they fixed the god awful camera in that fight), but it really leaves a sour taste in my mouth following an entire hour of (mostly) bad faith criticism.
After finishing the dlc, I gotta say it is very disappointing to me and I will explain why:
-As a lot of people already complained, some areas are huge but empty, such as the cerulean coast, charo's hidden grave, and the most disappointing of all Abyssal Woods.
Absolutely not, the only good thing about the cerulean coast WAS that somber stone, other than that it's pointless
@@GameitMicah sir ? I disagree ..you go on cerulean coast at night ..use sitting emote next to grace ..take screenshot and then...THEN ..you turn around and go actually meaningful stuff in the game 💪
1.golden hippo is a great boss, you were just terrible. I think your build just sucks tbh. 2. You skipped the best crucible bossfight the moment you said you were getting bored after a fight you were just objectively bad at. 3. Romina has better boss design than 90% of the base game and she looks nothing like that chick you put up on screen i genuinely think you are just whining so much over good design. There is so much more lame complaining over OBJECTIVELY THE BEST DLC YOU WILL EVER LAY EYES ON
Also the fact that it took you 12 hours to find hardly half the map just shows me how unintelligent you are
Golden hippo😭 Bosses are subjective and there is no way you can call this objectively the best DLC. I feel like you're just getting salty because I'm not meatriding fromsoftware.
objectively the best dlc you will ever lay eyes upon 💀
you cry about almost everything, did not enjoy watching.
Ok lol
Definitely unsubbed as soon as you said we don’t use summons. I was subscribed for all of 5 minutes. Go inside and touch grace.
Wow don't you think letting a game determine that is a little sad. Also I used mimic tear on radahn so🤣
are you that self conscious about using summons you had to unsub to someone who doesn’t? Maybe rethink your own personal philosophies bruh
3 minutes in and I gotta say this commentary is really obnoxious
Womp womp
What’s with all the streaming segments? Do we need to see you stream like this? Where’s the dialogue and the points ? This is horrible. Bye
Honestly yall are getting too upset over an opinion lol
@@GameitMicah no I’m waiting for the opinion to come but I’m tired of waiting because of your shitty streams. I genuinely don’t even know what ur opinion is about this game bc you’re a clown who doesn’t know how to convey it
