I'm sure a lot of you guys know this stuff already, but we wanted to put all this info in one place to make it easy for everyone to bring new characters up to speed for the DLC. What build are you bringing into the DLC? Also, thanks again to NordVPN for sponsoring this video! Link here if you want that deal NordVPN.com/vaatividya
I'm going in with my first character. She's at level 158, I think, and I completed the game with her and opted not to move onto NG+ since I know better than to go into a FromSoftware DLC in NG+ for the first time. She's a quality melee build with a slight leaning on dex. I started in the warrior class and didn't put a single level into anything except for vigor, endurance, strength, and dexterity. I'm curious to see how a pure melee build handles the DLC, but I'm not too worried really. I am planning on starting a second character with the Confessor class and running a faith/dex character just see how I handle magic. I tried an Astrologer a while ago, but the sorcery got boring and I didn't go beyond getting the first Limgrave map piece.
I've got my Blood Samurai, my Poison/ Rot Annoyance build, my Beast man, my Spell Blade, and of course my main who, funny enough, is entirely built around blasphemy - my Heretic Knight

My mom just passed away 3 weeks ago now and we were extremely close. I’ve felt like I’m sinking into a black hole of depression. I just want to say that putting this channel on, laying in bed, is the only way I’ve been able to sleep. These videos are great on a video game /entertainment level but weirdly, vattis voice is soothing. Every night I just let the playlists play and eventually my brain just shuts off long enough to get some sleep. Tell the people important to you that you love them because life is fragile. Thanks for the great content vatti.
about the Larval Tears: in addition to all those pickups, every single ball enemy in Nokstella drops a tear the first time you kill it. there's probably other spots, too
I noticed this while farming nox swordstress set, Im pretty sure they can drop after as well its just rare. Pretty sure I got a few from the ball on the stairs -
For awareness sake: on Varre's quest. You need only kill 1 shardbarer to progress. It doesn't need to be Godrick. Heck, it could be Rahdan if you choose so lol.
@@occultnightingale1106 That’s actually not possible Malenia is blocked behind like 2 or 3 progress checks being acquire 2 great runes to get passed into Leindell and the other being defeat Morgott
I haven’t seen anyone mention this but you don’t actually have to beat another player or even beat the NPC when using the festering fingers. As long as you invade 3x you can move forward in the quest
about the npc summons in front of the great jar, those are actually player builds, when Fia holds you, it makes a copy of your build and uploads it, then it has a chance to appear as a summon npc variant for another player there, in front of the great jar, its pretty amazing, also, they change on each attempt so thats why it pretty hard to defeat them since you dont really know what summon you'll get, if it has a staff and sword, it could have any spells, or any incantations or combinations of those
A small misconception about Varre’s quest: your invasions do not need to be successful, you just have to have invaded 3 players. You can literally just use the Finger Severer to leave immediately after invading, same applies to Magnus
Vaati, I just want you to know that I greatly appreciate what you do. As a souls/elden ring/ sekiro/ bloodborne superfan, who doesn’t have the patience and ability to piece together all the lore, it is great having someone who does it for me, and does it so well! Someone who makes their videos so well and puts so much attention to detail in everything. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
The weirdest unresolved questline imo is Patches. He acts like he's dying, gives you a trinket to give to Tanith that she doesn't seem to understand or care about, and then just shows back up where you first met him almost like nothing after that point happened at all.
He used to disappear after he gives you the the castanets, before patch 1.04 Even though he appeared to be dying, its curious they didn't have him drop his bell bearing when he disappeared (pre 1.04). That's normally what happens when any NPC with a shop dies. People were upset they lost access to his shop. I have a feeling his quest will continue in the DLC, and it was always meant to. We are definitely getting Tanith/Shaded Castle/Volcano Manner related lore in the DLC.
I hope killing him doesn't lock me out of any DLC-related things... he's such a snot that I had to layeth the smacketh down on his candy a$$ in some playthroughs... plus I wanted his armor.
For ancient Dragon smithing stones, 13 can be found per playthrough. 2 can be earned through gostoc and nepheli's questline. 1 through siding with Jerren, and 1 through gurranq after collecting all the deathroot, the rest are found as drops in the world. There are a total of 8 somber ancient dragon smithing stones available, 1 through anastasia's 3rd invasion, 1 through Latenna's quest to the consecrated snowfield, and 1 through millicent's questline after beating malenia and using the needle on her "bloom" flower. the final 5 somber stones are found as drops in elphael, the ashen capital and farum azula. Making 13 dragon smithing stones, and 8 somber, the maximum number you could hold going into the DLC (in NG+0), which will no doubt hold at least a couple more of each. As for NPCs that show up in the dlc, I actually think there is a possibility that Jerren might showup again if however a slim chance. since he is one of the only NPCs that straight up dissapears from the lands between after you side with him against scoceress sellen. He then says as his final line: "Well, I must be leaving now. Brave warrior, if the fates deign it.. No, we shall indeed meet again, at the next glorious tourney" before despawning from the world and not being seen again, which to me, may mean he shows up again in the dlc, but for what purpose I dont know.
considering the fact you can kill Jerren, I doubt he will be in the DLC. From usually makes new NPC's for the DLC, and those who aren't new are people who you didn't have the option of killing, like maybe Roderika, Ranni, Renalla (although she's mentally messed up), but aside from people who are literally impossible to kill, it's probably just going to be new NPCs. Or heck, maybe Siegward comes back
Concerning the Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones, there’s the one in Moghwyn’s Palace just before the lift going up to Mogh. That’s the earliest one you can get if doing Varre’s Questline.
I am so looking forward to thr DLC, and this is a fantastic guide, as expected from Vaati, but I am taking a slightly different approach. Having completed the game previously, I have started a couple of different spec characters, completed the first areas, up to the gates of Leyndell, and completed Radhan and Mohg and then I will enter the DLC, and continue my game from there. This will give me the chance of running the rest of the game again with any new skills or weapons or anything else they give us in the DLC, and see how different it will be. I will totally blackout any reviews or guides so I go into it totally blind, and once again know that I will have the chance to experience that ‘souls effect’ of trepidation, fun and excitement that these incredible games give us all. I look forward to helping many of you in Jolly cooperation!
Tip: Before summoning your mimic tear, equip the Shabriri's Woe talisman, which increases aggro towards you. After summoning your mimic, unequip it. Now only your mimic draws aggro. Optionally, equip the Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman too before summoning, to make it more resilient. Equip an ironjar aromatic as well. The mimic will use it and become unkillable.
@@VinheimScholarI forgot about that part, can it be on any slot? I don't really use the ones where you hold Y, only really to summon Torrent, so I could just keep some I want the mimic to use on that.
@DeathClawz the best thing to do before summoning mimic tear would be to only have the items you want it to use, so minimal items, only have ironjar, uplifting aromatic and raw meat dumpling equipped there, so it uses those three items a lot
@@DeathClawzYeah, I like switching a build up and equipment and weapons when using my Mimic Tear, and then I switch back to the build, equipment and weapons that I am using at that time as I am playing through an Elden Ring record. It’s really cool because I feel like I am summoning a totally different warrior with the Mimic Tear every time lol 😆.
@@Heroo01 Malenia is still rated as the hardest boss, there is none in the DLC that can compare to her difficulty Fromsoft said. Its okay. It will be easy. But that won't make it bad of course.
@@LawfulBased what do you mean? I have a much easier time completing the game at level 150 than I had at low level. Im sure at this level, the new dlc will be pretty easy. So im leveling a new dude now to go into the dlc without being ng+

Thanks for the video. Your voice is very calm and soothing. Some content creators done have a voice i want to listen to for too long. I usually do UA-cam while working so this was great and tried it once I got home.
Great vid! One thing I don’t see a lot of people mention is to stock up on Golden Runes (Hero’s Runes, Numen Runes, ect.). You can always rune farm, but having some handy for those out of the way merchants can be a godsend
10:45 quick mention about golden great arrows, they also grant a golden bow type buff temporarily to any friendly NPCs/players near where the arrow lands, been using it on a redmane knight build to help out other players during boss fights
About the maidens cloth, you can also go to the four belfries and to the tower. From the top tower, get the imbued stone sword key and head directly south. After the first tower, take a left and go to that tower. Place the imbued stone sword key and place it in. If done correctly, you will arrive in the sky island that you teleported to at the very start of the game. Kill the grafted scion, it will give you rewards and access to the easier to reach maidens cloth. From there go up into the church and inside you will find a dead maiden. Collect its blood and your done
14:35 you'll need to beat Anastasia in Calelid and Mt Gelnir as well. You can do these in any order, you just usually get to Consecrated Snowfield last.
I am working on a totally new playthrough specifically for the DLC and it's really just a slow playthrough to get everything I possibly can while enjoying myself and getting ready for the DLC. But I am also trying to get through some of my backlog because I don't want to burnt out before the DLC, I don't think it is possible but I want that itch in full effect once the DLC drops! This video will help make sure I don't miss anything while making my way through the lands between once again! Thanks for this!
Great guide! I did a whole playthrough as soon as the dlc trailer dropped so pretty much ticked off all of these but this is a great video to reference instead of saving 20 wiki tabs. Also really like the use of the song at 2:05, same one Kings and Generals use in their Pacific war series.
28:29 Alternatively you can go with frenzy flame to burn he tree, finish Millicent's questline and use the unalloyed needle to halt the frenzy influence. ^ You can chose either Millicent or Malenia to be potential characters that will reoccur in the dlc. Boc doesn't really have much else to his story. If you do Sellen's questline but help Jerren at the end he may also appear. Rya if you finish Volcanoe Manor's questline. DO NOT defeat or give the potion to Rya, she will leave a letter saying she will continue recusant work after they disband from Rykard being defeated. Jar bairn may also appear more grown up if you finish his and Diallos Hoslow's quest. Can't think of any more NPCs that may potentially appear but I believe these quest-lines are worth considering doing in preparation of the dlc.
@@Daeyae Was about to say that. I'm pretty sure the DLCs have always been separate from the main game in such away that nothing done in the main game impacts the DLC and vice versa. I know no main game NPCs appeared in the DLCs for DS3 and Bloodborne except for Patches in The Ringed City. Even then he was entirely separate from main game Patches; especially given he was without his memories for the majority of that DLC.
@@SolaScientiathat’s false. If you rescued Sif in ds1’s AotA, you got an entirely new cutscene for Sif’s boss fight. Despite not adding new dialogue and cutscenes over the past few games, there’s still a possibility they could for ER.
@@thecrypticstench A possibility, but I highly doubt they will. The interviews with Miyazaki indicate that's it's an entirely separate place from the main Lands Between world. We might not even have the usual sites of grace and the golden light leading us around. So many unknowns, but I still feel confident that what we've done in the main game will have no impact on the DLC.
I feel like he's got the hardest game end quest to make a PTC movie about it because of how solitary the quest itself is. A lot less interpersonal drama compared to the rest. It's a great ending that ties into the lore really well tho
@@ArkbladeIX yeah, I think the quest speaks for itself. Incredibly interesting story being told there, but probably wouldn’t fit a Vaati PTC vid…. Althoughhhh…. Vaati could make a PTC video on the Perfect Order quest, but have the main focus of the video be the interpersonal conflict of Corhyn - and his descent into madness, while exploring the dichotomy of cult/blind belief and unbiased reforming of society or religion. I see a very interesting PTC video there, somewhere.
For those of you using Vaati's guide to do Varre's quest. It should be noted that you might have a TON of trouble approaching that church due to a tower nearby where a madness aoe spell is constantly being casted that'll make you explode with madness if you're exposed too long. If you want to get through this part, there are two ways. 1. Hide behind walls. The spell is casted every few seconds. But as long as your character can't "See" the "giant eye of Sauron being conjured up above you" then the madness meter won't build up. crouch in bushes or go behind a wall that is facing the area, or under the tower itself. This allows you avoid the madness buildup. 2. Kill Hyetta. By this point if you've done Castle Morne already, then Hyetta will be available immediately in front of the grace that is your entrance point into Liurnia. Whether you skipped stormveil or took the path after Godrick's boss room. Obviously don't do this if you WANT the Lord of Frenzy ending or the Talisman that boosts madness incantations which you should note also scales with stats aside from strength and faith, which is rare in a talisman. But if you're okay with (and most are) avoiding that ending, then you probably feel no guilt in murdering Hyetta off the spot. She's one fast travel away with ZERO effort, and she hardly fights back. (This is coming from the person who never obtained Millicent's prosthesis cause she couldn't bring herself to do it.. you'll get over it.) Also you can go dip your cloth in the blood of your OWN finger maiden, who lies dead in the First Step when you first emerge into the game with a new character, which is also quite close by and easy to reach. Just go to the four belfries and pick the the right portal gate, and aside from fighting the Grafted boss who killed you the first time when you entered the game (who'll be super easy this time around since you're powerful enough and have ash summons to spam now), you'll be able to get blood easy. Also, to top it off, getting here is necessary to complete Nepheli's quest, so why not just kill two birds with one stone?
@@pineappleudh6561 also progressing her quest puts you in the doghouse with Melina, and forces you to have to progress a few other questlines and then defeat Malenia while finding Placidusax's area without beating Maliketh. So unless you want a specific incantation seal, she's not worth it.
@artoriapendragon3234 Ah alright, I usually use the maiden at the start of the game since you have to go back there anyway for nephelis quest but this would be handy for getting to the dlc early!
Love how to talk during your videos. It never feels scripted but like we are having a conversation (one sided haha). Keep up your videos. Your bloodborne are my favorite...especially prepare to cry ones.
In my first time after picking the game up from my weeks play at launch, I decided on a new character and used a community spreadsheet to farm every single possible item you can collect in addition to both altered and unaltered armour. I have all endings ready to go and Miquellas Needle at the ready. I also decided this would be the best time to push a souls game to NG7 for the first time and so I'm currently sitting at the end of Journey 8 with everything ready to go. Final level, 268 (yes I know we get strength sapped which is absolutely fine). I'm fucking ready baby.
An easy Cheese for the Great Jar’s Arsenal for those struggling with the Champions: Start a Fight with one of the Summon Signs, go Towards the Great Jar till you hit the Fog wall, Run Left till you reach the ledge and you will see a dip in the ground, here you can crouch just behind the ledge and each Champion, after some time, will Roll off the ledge to there Death!!! 😊
Beautifully presented guide, Vaati. Something so satisfying about watching sped-up clips of Torrent navigating the landscape. I've been making my way through a very intentional new-game build playthrough, collecting specific items on specific paths and quests, while leaving everything not relevant to it for a new game+ larval tear respec in prep for the expansion. So fun! Your guide has given me a few useful tips. Thanks.
Random tip: you can get the blood of that maiden from the inhibition church by walking behind her chair too. That way the clothing set remains on the corpse if you want to leave it there.
I usually just get the blood from the dead maiden in the Chapel of Anticipation. The Four Belfries warp gate to the Chapel isn't far from the Rose Church, so you can easily get there early game.
23:05 I don't know why but this is so, deeply funny to me, like the chosen undead threw the most righteous snowball ever and she just loses her will to finish that combo
To anyone struggling with the Nightriders in the snow fields you can wait for them to go past the ice and fight them as they get further away from the cart. Their AI can glitch and go passive and slow walk back to their cart. I had one glitch and just slow walk the whole time I was attacking him.
A great shield plus Impaling Thrust on an upgraded spear or other long reaching weapon works well too. Just have to draw the attention of them one at a time, and away from those flame archers.
You don't have an idea how happy makes me to see a notification of a new video from your channel. Tonight's pizza night while watching this, thanks Vaaty
If you’re trying to advance Varre’s quest to get him to the Rose Church, you also have to restore Godrick’s rune and go to the Roundtable Hold to become a proper member to get him to move from Limgrave. I actually ran into this the other day. To get Radahn’s festival to start you have to progress Ranni’s questline to the point where Blaidd moves to his castle.
The last souls game I played was bloodborne and when the dlc came out I created a whole new character instead of using my main . I think I like trying a different build for dlc so ima do the same for elden ring
@@_BBAGG_Yes but sometimes it's nice to re-experience the sense of progression as you build a new character up from nothing. @@_BBAGG_I’m going to make a new character for the dlc because if I use a high leveled character then I’m going to be too overpowered, and that’s just going to ruin my $40 experience
@@quenchthirster1417 That won't be the case, the DLC is adding a new damage progression system similar to Sekiro's Boss Memories so that the DLC can't just be dominated by a Max Level character
My preparation was just to replay the entire thing again doing as many quests as possible and gathering as many items/weapons/armors as I can along the way even those not for my build. Just finished today at the 82 hour mark around lvl 150 and also cleaned up the achievements I never got the first time around so now it's 42/42. Impressive that on steam a full 9.2% managed that for such a huge game.

@@jaygei_2641 there's 8 new entire weapon types I want to try out plus whatever incantations, sorceries and weapon of other classes they'll introduce into the dlc
@jaygei_2641 8 new weapon categories. Mind you that's not 8 new weapons, that's weapon _categories_ So expect a more substantial amount of additions than in past games
I’m just happy they’re doing something with the player power scaling because as someone who doesn’t PvP, all my characters are overleveled to the fucking stars and back.
I started 2 new characters for the DLC, but I’m curious to go in with my NG+7, level 400 character afterwards to see how important those upgrades really are haha.
My main is at 158 or 159, I think, because I also play offline. I don't play games that require a PS+ account, so I've never bothered getting one. That and I don't like deal with random invasions all the time. I'm glad they made adjustments to Varre's quest to allow offline players to still complete it and get to Mohg early. I'm very curious to see how they do things with the DLC and scaling.
@SolaScientia Just as a note, in this game invaders only happen if you specifically have a co-op person in your world. You can still use rune arcs and great runes without getting invaded.
PSA for the flask. If you use the infinite fp tear right before a boss fight, then you can summon any spirit ash regardless of whether or not you have enough max fp to cast. This way you can use fp intense ashes WAY earlier, like luthel, without needing like 16 mind. You get it from the malformed tree spirit next to the burned out erdtree at volcano manor. Also, faith knot tear. I stick to 15 faith for flame grant me strength and I cast golden vow with my boosted faith and infinite fp. Boom, spirit summoned, buffs cast, no replenish flasks used, efficient stat use, and max fp to use on the boss.
Funny. I remember dying a hilarious amount of times to the red radagon wolf that you gotta fight before Rennala with Rennala feeling easy in comparison 🤣🤣
For shooting the crow, if you don't have arrows but you have a faith build (i.e me in my last playthrough), Frenzied Burst can also hit it if it's close enough to the cliff

After watching this a while back, I decided to make a fresh character for the DLC, and they're now ready to go. All bosses killed, every spell and talisman collected. I'm counting down the days in anticipation :)
If anyone is intending to farm for drops in the DLC, I would recommend an Arcane build for those increased drops (it is also one of the strongest builds in the game, having high scaling for bleed and dragon incantations). Hope that helps!
@@Based_investor sleep resistance is a guaranteed regardless of its power considering all the sleep & st trina theming, abundance of bleed and fire resistances I could still see happening though.

To be honest, idk how to tackle it. I’m bringing my favorite character to NG +7 by the time it comes out, to have the greatest challenge imaginable on a full build. I may also do a fresh run for it. Who knows. I’ll be playing a bunch of times anyway.
even if the DLC has a scaling system, bringing your spell-slinging, bloodhound stepping, dual-wielding (something) character won’t present the “greatest challenge” i don’t think.
Decided to come back to the game. I stopped because Melania kept beating my ass two years ago. I tried grinding levels and it didnt matter, her damage was just off the charts. After watching videos, practicing to get back into the swing of things, and messing around with dodge timing, I decided to respec and try again. This time I went full on black flame with the godslayer greatsword. Im fairly sure this is the cheesiest way to win but whatever, I beat her finally. Me and my mimic tear spammed black flames until victory xD I cant wait for the DLC to continue to beat my ass.
Im playing through all the souls games to see what type of build/playstyle i like. So far it seems i enjoy dex builds, or at least smaller weapons. Im trying to see weather or not ill like using magic, so far some extra healing with faith spells isnf bad but i really enjoy using weapon buffs instead. So far i uave beaten lies of p, sekiro, bloodborne, and dark souls 1. I am in the middle of dark souls 2, really fun so far, has its moments but its good, than i have dark souls 3 and its doc fo play than i will play demon souls remake as my last one. Wish me luck
Little tip for those who want have Barggort at Altus but still want to do dung eaters quest. Get a weapon and put the “kick” AoW on it. Hit Braggort with it until he aggros. This will cause dung eater to not kill him. Once you get dung eater in his chair in the shunning grounds, go to turtle pop church and use celestial dew to DeAggro Braggort Also if you want to farm Rune Arcs, go to mournCastle Rampart site of grace and run to the cell and kill the rats. Make sure to have the silver scarab talisman equipped. Rinse and repeat
How about Patches and Tanith? This is just my personal speculation but since their questline ended in a somewhat awkward state, and the fact that they're both from a foreign land I'm thinking that they might have originated from the Shadow Lands (considering Tanith was once a dancer and there is a dancer NPC or Boss in the DLC).
For Varre's Quest, I find the easiest and earliest way to get maiden blood for the Lord of Blood's Favor is to go to the Four Belfries. Ride up to the top where the Fourth Belfry contains an Imbued Sword Key. After, go to the Second Belfry where, after beating the Grafted Scion, you're able to go to the starting room of the game and find an already dead maiden who's blood can be used. Sidenote, when forced to invade another world three times, immediately use the finger severer to return to your world as beating another player is not needed to progress the questline.
Keeping Sif's secret cutscene in mind, I'm also imagining a possibility of an alternative cutscene from Malenia once you've played the DLC. Perhaps she will have additional dialogue, acknowledging you meeting Miquella? It's a long shot but I'll be challenging her after the DLC just in case.
Lore tidbit. The fact Eleonora drops the exact item that counters Mohg's magic despute her clearly being sided with him as a psuedo-covenant npc has a story behind it.
@@DanielLaunikonis I'm already at level 303😭😭😭 and my main strat is just I'll need to kill it as soon as possible because the enemies hit like a fucking truck, especially the bosses😭... soooo, yeah maybe yeah, you should make a new build or save game:D
While bleed is highly effective against mohg do note that it's a double edged sword, he has a passive ability that for 20 seconds after either he or you suffer blood loss he does an increased 20% more damage on all of his attacks. So it might catch you off guard if one of his hits you could tank before did much more damage than expected.
Im personally gonna be starting a new build once the dlc is out. There will obvs be new npcs, and having a lot of the game done already might skip some of their quest lines
Just wanted to make a minor addition to your section on rune farming the Mogh Palace crow: If you don't want to use/ buy arrows you can slap spectral lance on any compatible weapon and hit it from the cliffs. Rock sling also works well if you're playing a sorcerer.
Personally, I've been farming souls on the Mogwyn mountaintop. 👻 1x arrow in the bird so he falls off the mountain and a zerg of sleeping aliens. On a daily basis. 😂
@@kornephorosyeah it's completely broken, something like 30-40K runes per run, letting you easily farm 100K runes in a minute or so. I "discovered" it myself but I'm not surprised it's a favorite. Also, you don't even necessarily need to be a 'faith build' like the vid claims, you just need enough of each of the stats to use it and one of those stats to be outliers. I'm a strength build primarily, with strength at 52, faith at 28 and dex at 25 with my talisman set, and the SRS one-shots every albunaric in range, meaning the fact that I have the FP to go once more is mostly irrelevant.
We all know that the npc that's gonna appear in the DLC is the one and only Patches the Hyena, the trusty, the unbreakeble, the Spider, and the untethered
@@marquicejohnson5975Dayum, is that NG+ ?? 275 is freakin high man! I mean you guys do what you think suits you, but being TOO overleveled might trivialize the upcoming new contents. But I guess there's a soft and hard cap anyway, one can't be too overleveled over 180~200, so I guess it's fine.
I dunno, man. Wouldn't getting infinite souls, infinite upgrade materials, and min maxing everything kind of trivialize the experience? I'd say just jump in and level as you go, but I guess we all play differently...
5:05 those Cleanrot Knights can be quite a handful if you're going for the talisman as a new character. Not because they're strong or deal high damage, but because they have more health than you'd expect. The easiest way to beat them as early as possible is by using an upgraded weapon. I recommend using an upgraded Bloodhound Fang, which you can get by defeating Darriwil, which in turn can be defeated easily if you summon Blaidd for his fight. Defeat Darriwil, get the Bloodhound Fang, bypass Stormveil through the east side passage, go to Liurnia, head northwest towards the Carian Manor, find Iji, buy the Somber Smithing Stones 1-4 from him, upgrade the Bloodhound Fang to +4. You'll easily defeat the Cleanrot Knights with that sword. And if they're still too strong, just use a summon to distract one of the knights while you kill the other.

Picking this gem of a game back up again after two years, starting a character from scratch. Thanks for all this.
I haven’t seen anyone mention this but you don’t actually have to beat another player or even beat the NPC when using the festering fingers. As long as you invade 3x you can move forward in the quest
about the npc summons in front of the great jar, those are actually player builds, when Fia holds you, it makes a copy of your build and uploads it, then it has a chance to appear as a summon npc variant for another player there, in front of the great jar, its pretty amazing, also, they change on each attempt so thats why it pretty hard to defeat them since you dont really know what summon you'll get, if it has a staff and sword, it could have any spells, or any incantations or combinations of those
yea the builds are actually tough these days lmao
If you're offline it's three present builds that don't change
No wonder it is difficult
You can literally hover over the sign and it shows you the character model in its entirety. You can see the weapons and gear they're wearing
looklllllll
A small misconception about Varre’s quest: your invasions do not need to be successful, you just have to have invaded 3 players. You can literally just use the Finger Severer to leave immediately after invading, same applies to Magnus
You can also invade NPCs and it counts, so offline players can do it. Like when you invade sellen or the samurai guy
@@kodaxmax I believe the Volcano Manor NPC assassinations also count as invasions.

The weirdest unresolved questline imo is Patches. He acts like he's dying, gives you a trinket to give to Tanith that she doesn't seem to understand or care about, and then just shows back up where you first met him almost like nothing after that point happened at all.
simple: gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss
Pretty sure it’s cause he’s an Easter egg pretty much
He used to disappear after he gives you the the castanets, before patch 1.04
Even though he appeared to be dying, its curious they didn't have him drop his bell bearing when he disappeared (pre 1.04). That's normally what happens when any NPC with a shop dies. People were upset they lost access to his shop.
I have a feeling his quest will continue in the DLC, and it was always meant to. We are definitely getting Tanith/Shaded Castle/Volcano Manner related lore in the DLC.
After ds3 ringed city they werent going to put a lot of effort into Patches
He then says as his final line:
"Well, I must be leaving now. Brave warrior, if the fates deign it.. No, we shall indeed meet again, at the next glorious tourney"
before despawning from the world and not being seen again, which to me, may mean he shows up again in the dlc, but for what purpose I dont know.
considering the fact you can kill Jerren, I doubt he will be in the DLC. From usually makes new NPC's for the DLC, and those who aren't new are people who you didn't have the option of killing, like maybe Roderika, Ranni, Renalla (although she's mentally messed up), but aside from people who are literally impossible to kill, it's probably just going to be new NPCs. Or heck, maybe Siegward comes back
"Give it to me, your Elden Ring"
Concerning the Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stones, there’s the one in Moghwyn’s Palace just before the lift going up to Mogh. That’s the earliest one you can get if doing Varre’s Questline.
I am so looking forward to thr DLC, and this is a fantastic guide, as expected from Vaati, but I am taking a slightly different approach. Having completed the game previously, I have started a couple of different spec characters, completed the first areas, up to the
gates of Leyndell, and completed Radhan and Mohg and then I will enter the DLC, and continue my game from there.
I have done the same thing

I think the main thing needed for the DLC is the Age of Perfect Order video.
Goldmask drip is immaculate.
(This is coming from the person who never obtained Millicent's prosthesis cause she couldn't bring herself to do it.. you'll get over it.)
Also you can go dip your cloth in the blood of your OWN finger maiden, who lies dead in the First Step when you first emerge into the game with a new character, which is also quite close by and easy to reach.
Sorry if I'm being dumb but why specifically are you suggesting people kill hyetta? As in what for?
@@pineappleudh6561 killing her will let you dye the cloth varre gives you in her blood, completing that part of the quest easily
@@pineappleudh6561 also progressing her quest puts you in the doghouse with Melina, and forces you to have to progress a few other questlines and then defeat Malenia while finding Placidusax's area without beating Maliketh. So unless you want a specific incantation seal, she's not worth it.

Good point!
They did that right before they would have killed me. Really saved me. 😅 i first thought they would become paasive because the night is over.😂

I specifically have one character with whom I haven't defeated Malenia OR burned the Erdtree, just to see if coming back to them after the DLC yields any changes.
...that being said, it really sucks not having any of the bell bearings from Farum Azula. Farming smithing stone 7's and 8's from the miners in Yelough Anix Tunnel is a slog.

@@Heroo01fixed, thank you. Autocorrect will fix words I want to spell but leave blatant errors untouched.
@@kevinoneil5120 Haha I've just had it turned off for like a decade now. Makes me pay more attention to what I type and actually has made me more accurate over time. I stopped using it when those "autocorrect moments" were huge memes and I was nervous it'd happen to me lol
Honestly I'm just surprised autocorrect is still so bad considering all the insane tech advances lately. It really should be working as intended by now imo
I'm doing the same thing in NG+1 and the scaling really isn't bad. It will probably be fine for the dlc scaling @@kevinoneil5120
I finished the game 3 times to get all achievements but now I'm on ng+2 and scared of getting 1 shot from a normal npc in DLC
didnt cross ur mind to have a save file for the achievements?
The DLC Will have other type of leveling
my 340 lvl Havel waiting dlc on ng+7
To be honest, idk how to tackle it. I’m bringing my favorite character to NG +7 by the time it comes out, to have the greatest challenge imaginable on a full build.
I may also do a fresh run for it.
Who knows. I’ll be playing a bunch of times anyway.
I'll bring both NG and NG+ characters to this DLC just to compare the challenge.
even if the DLC has a scaling system, bringing your spell-slinging, bloodhound stepping, dual-wielding (something) character won’t present the “greatest challenge” i don’t think.
@@tronaldtv7099 yeah i'm sure there's still going to be a challenge.
@@marquicejohnson5975 knowing ER, you're right, except it'll be artificial
Can't wait for this DLC... even if only for more Vaati vidyas
Me thinking I had done the majority of things in Elden Ring only to realise there is a lot more then I first thought 😂😂
Vatti’s videos are so relaxing. I suffer from multiple mental health problems and physical respiratory problems and this just is so soothing.
Hey Vaati, I was wondering when you were going to upload that 3h Armored Core video you were talking about?
I'm going in with NG+. I'm not starting over 😅
Little tip for those who want have Barggort at Altus but still want to do dung eaters quest.
Get a weapon and put the “kick” AoW on it. Hit Braggort with it until he aggros. This will cause dung eater to not kill him. Once you get dung eater in his chair in the shunning grounds, go to turtle pop church and use celestial dew to DeAggro Braggort
Also if you want to farm Rune Arcs, go to mournCastle Rampart site of grace and run to the cell and kill the rats.
Only Tanith is from foreign Land which I'm hoping does play into the DLC as well
Just finished my RL200 Quality Build on ng+2, with this i should be able to use most weapons in the DLC
I never get tired of listening to you talking about any game or lore, Truly a soothing feeling to my soul. Thank you.
DLC enemies with max ng+ difficultly scaling is gonna hit harder than my stepdad on a good day
I’m on ng+15 😂
Keeping Sif's secret cutscene in mind, I'm also imagining a possibility of an alternative cutscene from Malenia once you've played the DLC. Perhaps she will have additional dialogue, acknowledging you meeting Miquella?
It's a long shot but I'll be challenging her after the DLC just in case.
Im doing a boss weapon challenge run but im probably just gonna go back to my classic str/fth with guts sword
@isaacfoley6728 I just did one of those! I had to whip placidusax to death with the fire giant whip 😭

Lore tidbit. The fact Eleonora drops the exact item that counters Mohg's magic despute her clearly being sided with him as a psuedo-covenant npc has a story behind it.
I've been playing on ng+5 and I can tell you,,, I wasn't ready💀💀💀
What level are you? I'm waiting to buy it and I'm ng+5 level 250. Should I make a new build or just go for it?
@@DanielLaunikonis I'm already at level 303😭😭😭 and my main strat is just I'll need to kill it as soon as possible because the enemies hit like a fucking truck, especially the bosses😭... soooo, yeah maybe yeah, you should make a new build or save game:D
While bleed is highly effective against mohg do note that it's a double edged sword, he has a passive ability that for 20 seconds after either he or you suffer blood loss he does an increased 20% more damage on all of his attacks. So it might catch you off guard if one of his hits you could tank before did much more damage than expected.
Hey whens the 3h AC6 lore video? 👉👈
Im personally gonna be starting a new build once the dlc is out. There will obvs be new npcs, and having a lot of the game done already might skip some of their quest lines
doubtful, as that isn’t what From typically does but good thought
My favorite way to farm rune arcs is just to help people fight Renalla since she's a fairly easy boss
I’m finishing a playthrough now. I’m leaving Melina alive in case she may appear or have new dialogue so I’m stopping at the fire giant.
Yeah thats exactly why I havent beaten her in my recent playthrough .. i swear 😢

Just wanted to make a minor addition to your section on rune farming the Mogh Palace crow: If you don't want to use/ buy arrows you can slap spectral lance on any compatible weapon and hit it from the cliffs. Rock sling also works well if you're playing a sorcerer.

I didn’t connect with Elden Ring the same way I did “the others” but it’s cool to see this channel still alive and well.
Personally, I've been farming souls on the Mogwyn mountaintop. 👻
1x arrow in the bird so he falls off the mountain and a zerg of sleeping aliens. On a daily basis. 😂
Just max out the Sacred Relic Sword and join us in the perpetual massacre of the albinaurics (its a way more efficient method)
I know about it. It's work in progress. I only started playing daily like 3 days ago 😂@@kornephoros
Delayed it for 2 years. ehem... life 😑
@@kornephorosyeah it's completely broken, something like 30-40K runes per run, letting you easily farm 100K runes in a minute or so.
@@kornephoros can't do that on NG though. gotta beat the game first to get that sword

For casuals, don’t go into the DLC less than 200!
i'm going in with a level 275 build because i am not a souls veteran lol
@@marquicejohnson5975Dayum, is that NG+ ?? 275 is freakin high man! I mean you guys do what you think suits you, but being TOO overleveled might trivialize the upcoming new contents. But I guess there's a soft and hard cap anyway, one can't be too overleveled over 180~200, so I guess it's fine.
I dunno, man. Wouldn't getting infinite souls, infinite upgrade materials, and min maxing everything kind of trivialize the experience? I'd say just jump in and level as you go, but I guess we all play differently...
the answer is no, the best way is to min/max and plan the ultimate build. This is the way.
Hey im not trying to rain on your parade and i cant find the article but the developers said your stats wont matter. You wont be overpowered it will be a new stat system for the DLC. So i appreciate the video but i dont think its going to matter
Elden Ring enemies do not scale with your level, period. They get a statistical buff in ng+ and beyond. You can certainly out level everything.
I had watched and "thumbs up" this video when it first came out, but just had to comment and offer Grats!! after finding a link to this video in today's The Washington Post article on preparing for Shadow of the Erdtree, by Gene Park. Finally, name recognition from a completely different, national view.
Hey I have a video idea can you do a lore video for Melina and how we might get more lore about her in the dlc?
Your lore videos are amazing, but your build video is the best build video I've ever seen for Elden Ring. And I've watched HUNDREDS. I hope you make more!!!
