    Since he doesn't mention it in the video, I figure I'll let yall know to save you a few moments of frustration: when you are removing your factory radio and you have those two hoop pins inserted into the face, you have to spread them AWAY from the radio to move the brackets on the sides of the radio. So, the left hoop you must pry to the left and the right one you must pry to the right.

      Sounds good, but how do you get the wires from the car into your house?

  • @djturnz
    @djturnz 4 роки тому +82

    The "antenna " wire is to trigger a POWER ANTENNA so that it extends when you switch to AM/FM.
    The "remote" wire is used to turn on an external AMP like an aftermarket subwoofer.

    • @JamesMorningstar
      @JamesMorningstar 9 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for saying that.
      The whole video was really good at first, explaining everything in a productive way, then went completely down hill when he got to the part about the antenna. It was also very funny that he thought the antenna wire could start a fire or something if it touched the radio metal, when there is no power coming from an antenna. In fact, many radio unit designers count on the antenna shield to act as a nice solid ground. There is no reason not to plug in the antenna, but plenty of good reasons not to forget plugging it in.

    Would this be similar with a grand marquis also? Or is it different due to the steering wheel volume and track control?

      The Crown Vic and the Grand Marquis are nearly identical. I may install this same radio in the famous 95 MERC.

      If yours is a 2003 the parts in this video are the correct. I bought all 3 wire harness adapters and the one in this video is the correct one.

    I have a 03 grand marquis, it has 3 plugs on the back of the factory radio +the antenna.....
    The plug "kit" only came with 1 adapter. What are the other two plugs for?
