One of the quarterbacks I was really impressed with as I went through his preseason film was Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears. He was a quarterback that I really liked coming out of Ohio State and I was really upset my own team, the Washington Commanders, didn’t attempt to draft him last season. What impressed me was that even when Justin Fields made mistakes, he seemed to work on that very issue and fix it the following week. Beyond this, there was something else that really excited me. Something else that made me super happy for Bears fans and optimistic for his 2022 season.

Good stuff. I have loaded up on fields this year late in fantasy drafts. As a packers fan, i saw the potential last year. He has the mind set to be a really good qb
SAME! Him and Trey Lance. Tons of upside this year in fantasy
@@SamuelGoldNFL if only i could share a screen shot on here. In my touchdowns only league i somehow eneded up with both of these guys 😆
As a Bears fan, to you, a packers fan, thank you for not shitting on him like everybody else. Greatly appreciated
talent + work ethic + determination is a great combination. fields has all three in spades. he’ll play much better this year and then i expect him to be a top 10 qb (if not top 5 MVP candidate) going into year 3.
PS: run action is the way to go. PFF did some analysis that it really works. i think teams should do play action 40-70% of the time. there is little downside but huge upside.
Downside to play-action is if the Defense is expecting it or guesses right they can flush/sack the QB with a straight rush
@@therealrockguru true but then they are very susceptible to big plays. it’s rare that qbs get sacked on play action. you also have max protection on such plays.
@@shake6321 Agreed, unless of course you're Russell Wilson the past two seasons lol
@@therealrockguru nice handle. i was just thinking about how i was dressed liked the dude yesterday.
@@shake6321 it's all about the robe haha
He’s the most talented QB the bears have ever had. He’s been a star at every level. Only time will tell. 🤞
Well done Sam, thanks for the breakdown. Definitely rooting for Justin to succeed
Thanks Stephen!!
I'd give that first play another look again.
You are correct that Jones SHOULD be the option, but he wasn't for a reason.
He ran his route horribly.
Look at how rounded off the route is. It's supposed to be squared off. When he rounds it off he's dragging that defender into him. If Fields throws that ball, it's getting picked or it's getting broken up. Several beat reporters said coaches and Fields were talking to Jones after that drive. His knock coming out of college was imprecise route running.
This is exhibit A.
I was thinking the same thing. If he runs that route the way he should, he would have been open 2 seconds earlier. Terrible route!
Fair point on the poor route, but I still think an early throw that was well placed that allowed Jones to shield the ball from the FS and it's an easy first down. *To add to this: I don't even think you need to target YAC or to lead him or anything like that. Just get it out after the hips crossed and he got it
Agreed. Velas Jones biggest issue is his terrible route running and isn’t quick in breakoffs while not able to turn on a dime much at all. Idk to what degree he can fix this
@@SamuelGoldNFL im konda with u on that, it wasn't the best route, but thats an easy throw for fields if he takes it.
The biggest change this off-season that should help Fields is abandoning a scheme that ran frequent 11 personnel. The Bears weren't built to run that...even w/ Trubisky. Their OLine struggles more w/ pass blocking than run blocking, they have limited WRs, & they have a strong RB who is elusive & breaks a lot of tackles. Switching to 12 personnel & running more play action (on top of the fact Fields got to finally spend an off-season & training camp knowing he's the guy) will lead to a successful year 2 for him. Probably not making a pro bowl but I think Fields will become the first Bears QB to throw for 4,000+ yards this year. He will also have 26+ TDs
I hope Fields and Trubisky playso well this year that everyone can finally see how bad Nagy was as a coach.
Same because the last 2-3 seasons were a nightmare to watch after 2018 ! Couldn’t stand Nagy’s playcalling and that he wouldn’t hand the playcalling over . And his coaching
Looks like Nagy wasnt the problem as Ive been saying
@@TheBrotherHoodSports yeah, after two games we can totally come to that logic. Idiot.
To be honest, I thought you were a Seahawks fan with all the videos you've done over them 😂 They're actually what made me sub
Hahah. Thanks John! I'll still cover them a bunch this season too
I rooting for him to have a good season this year and prove a lot of people wrong🙌🏾💪🏾🔥💯🤝
Fields has two options on EVERY pass play...Pass or Run.
When you O-Line has betrayed you, you tend to take your 2nd option sooner than later...because he doesn’t want to get hurt, not because he’s afraid, he wants to play the entire year.
His o-line is much better this year. They are a quite an underrated group. They did some great things in the preseason if you watch the film.
Good start for him so far
Great job Sam.. I expect greatness from Justin, just more experience but in due time he’s going to shine with the Bears.. Underestimate the Bears.. no problem..
bro actually called it😭
People troll about JF1 being bad but don’t know the real problem was really Nagy
Nagy was 99% of the problem and now he’s gone it feels so refreshing . It was almost like he wanted to throw games away, couldn’t believe some things he’s done the last 2-3 years after 2018 season
@@rolandoc2708 Absolutely
As a Bears fan I can say… HOOK IT TO MY VEINS!!!
U is a smart man ✊🏾 I still don’t understand y da jets and 49ers didn’t take this mental tough ready made man with all da upside u can ask for u ‼️ He just have da down the field accuracy and athleticism is just rare 💯
Exactly the league has no clue what’s coming... 🍿
Is there a way to isolate play action pass % in the first half? As bad as the bears were, I wonder if being behind skewed those figures.
Fields LED the nfl last season in completion percentage outside of the pocket. Why Nagy didn’t attack that more is beyond me
Honestly if Velus doesn’t round that route off I’m sure Justin sees him. Surprised you missed it and called it hero ball.
Even with the poor route, there's plenty of room underneath the safety imo for a quick throw after the right hash. *To add to this: I don't even think you need to target YAC or to lead him or anything like that. Just get it out after the hips crossed and he got it.. Maybe the poor route stopped him from throwing it? Idk, I think you still do it
Samuel how about a video on Jay Cutler, Da Bears' all time passing leader? One from the vault maybe? GEAUX BEARS
I would just show the proper way to smoke a cig while throwing dimes. WHO WANTS TO SEE THAT??!? (Honest answer: I don't think all22 is available from his time playing unfortunately)
@@SamuelGoldNFL LOL! I love the videos! I appreciate ya! GEAUX BEARS
Field's greatest challenge will be how his o-line holds up. If they give this kid a fighting chance, he will be great.
Da Bears!
🤫 Let them hate
Da Bears
Da losers
It’s preseason.
Update heading into week 5 , Justin fields is not only the worst QB in the league but one of the worst QBs I’ve ever seen
You might have called this one before anyone
DONT give me hope, dont do that sam
I'm sorry but I HAD TO!
You Chicago people are so sorry. No wonder light foot became mayor. Must be so easy to manipulate you simple minded people.
Go from buckeye nation
🤣🤣🤣
I love the justin fields content
Good stuff I agree that fields have the talent. My problem is with bears management they didn't do him a favor this off-season by not getting him more oline or even receiver help. I think fields is definitely gonna be better, but I don't think he ascends to superstar this season because he won't be able to elevate that whole offensive unit which might be the worse in football; besides Darnell Mooney, he really doesn't have any good wr. And the offensive line might be the worst in football.
This exactly. They let their best weapon go and have no Oline. Fields is probably a good talent but he is not good enough on his own to keep up the offense that front office butchered.
Wouldnt be surprised if the Bears have a top 3 pick next year and then we get the discussion if they get a new Qb.
Fair arguments overall! I don't disagree with you, but I think scheme changes/play calling + his improvements can help him A LOT. Will he have a Mahomes 2nd year season? Likely no. But I think he can be a Top 10-12 guy this year based on those two things alone!
@@maverick1191 Allen Robison did not fit his play style
He did once again your listening to mass media he getting players to run the offense not just a big name that can’t run the offense
4 of 5 oline starters are different. Robinson had 250 yards last year.
Well this was entirely wrong.
👀
Fields could play at an elite level this year and the Bears could still go 4-13.
And that’s ok. They’ll get a high pick, Fields no matter what is about to shock the league this season
Nah if he plays at a elite level we will be in the playoffs
@@rolandoc2708 it’s been shocking all right.
@@MrRyan-wu4jx Yea hasn’t looked too good through FOUR games... 13 more to go bro oh well
Thats basically exactly whats happening lol
On the other hand, you actually think the talent at Ohio State was better than the Bears. I just don’t see that. You don’t think any of these receivers would have started on any of those Buckeye teams??
This seems a bit premature now. Or maybe I’m being premature. I know I’m immature so……..
Fields has serious vision issues in the middle of the field. The bears should be able to work around it though with better scheming and play calling.
This is why Nagy was terrible with him, because he is insanely stubborn.
He does not have vision issues in the middle of the field what your seeing is a results of bad oline play not giving him enough time last year to read the field. He can and will throw in the middle especially on intermediate routes if he sees it this is not a Hurts situation where a guy ignores it
He was awful last year
Matt Nagy did the rookie QB no good last i
He’s gonna have another bad season and y’all are gonna blame everyone under the sun except him again
"Another bad season"
He's played one season so far and it was pretty obvious that Nagy provided no help to the young man. If you think he's gonna have a bad season this season, I think you're in for a surprise.
@@VinnMan I don’t only blame Nagy. He had a winning record with the bears. He ain’t a great coach but a lot of coach’s aren’t. If joe burrow can take the most sacks in the nfl and go to a super bowl than this guy has no excuses this year
With all due respect, Joe Burrow had 4 amazing players to dish the ball to: Chase, Higgins, Boyd, and Uzomah (now retired). Versatile players that gave him options, 2 can play the deep ball, 2 can catch in traffic, and 2 that are deadly in cross routes and slants.
The bears don’t have that, and Justin Fields is working with what he has, one awesome receiver, one could be awesome receiver, and 2 nobodies… (unfortunately)
That being said, given this new offensive line, they may be able to give him more time to create plays and turn a nobody receiver into a highlight reel. Jared Goff did it last year to Amon Ra and they were both less than mediocre before OLine adjustments.
Fields will be fun to watch this year!
@@matthewwhite6556 Exactly this guy has no clue what he’s talking about. I’m sure he goes off just stats too . Anybody who’s seen him actually play full games knows Justin is special . And yea everybody is in for a SURPRISE this season from Fields... 🍿🍿
Troll.
