    Going that fast spreading the glue, I would have had it slopped everywhere. :-)

    Here are a few trick about how to make and install a wood floor reducer. You can do it when a flat transition doesn't work.

    Square Notch or V notch
    I prefer 1/8 x 1/4 x 1/4 square notch trowel but thats just my opinion.
    Also what do you use to clean glue? Mineral spirits.
    Btw please give proknee a try best knee pads in the world I can't believe what a difference they made

      On each basket of glue you can find recommended size of trowel for installation. I always follow this recommendation.
      I don't use any floor cleaner, because it's not necessary - all glue is water base and easy clean up with wet rug. Thanks.

    Love your very informative videos! Thanks for making them. Do you have any experience with 3/8" engineered hardwood flooring being used as a border around carpet in a room? I have a high end job and don't know if I should weave the corners or just miter them. The border will be 3 planks (18") wide and the room has both 90° corners and 45° corners. I think mitering and using splines is out of the question as I can't find 1/8" splines and I am worried if I don't have splines the flooring with not lay flush with the opposing angle properly. I am leaning towards weaving the corners and just making groves in the end grains with a router table and a 1/8" bit. Any hints or experience with this? Thanks so much again. Working in the tallest (54 floors up) and most expensive (rent) board room in Pittsburgh PA :)

      Hi my friend, you can make groove on your table saw and use for splines door skin. Door skin you can buy in any lumber store. Make sense?

      Sounds good. I will pick up some 1/8" luan and try that. Thanks 😊

    Great job.
    Question: why there is no expansion gap next to reducer?

    • @MrYoucandoityourself
      @MrYoucandoityourself  5 років тому

      Hi Vika, because engineered floor not expended too much and another site is open.

    • @VikaCher2
      @VikaCher2 5 років тому +1

      Got it. How would you go if it would be a solid wood?
      Would you use an overlap reducer to conceal expansion gap?
      Or some other technique?

    • @MrYoucandoityourself
      @MrYoucandoityourself  5 років тому

      Да, я использую ту же технику установки.

    Доброго времени суток. На сколько я понимаю Вы укладываете инженерную доску. А что за клей? На каучуке?

    Professional job as always. So customer did not want to remove the baseboards? They will fill the gap with caulking? Not very nice, no?

      Hi Bill, nice to see you again! This gap I covered with base shoe. It was not my design.

      I was thinking the same. Customer should have paid for baseboards removal and reinstall or replacement.

      Thanks a lot for your comment! Threshold plate for us it's for entrance only and most of aluminum. All other we call transitions.

    Добрый день. А как и чем заделывается щель между доской и плинтусом? Почему сначала не уложить доску, а потом плинтус? Спасибо.

    • @MrYoucandoityourself
      @MrYoucandoityourself  5 років тому +1

      Привет Юрий, эту щель закрывают с помощью вот такого молдинга, еще его называют quarter round 1/4 or shoe base. Here is video - ua-cam.com/video/9ZJFF90qfs8/v-deo.html
