That's a vacuum canister for a/c operation mode functions. Scott Drake repro's them if it's pooched or you can just update to a Vintage Air brand system to replace all the factory stuff
Hey Doris I’m not familiar with “ dry ice power washing, “ I just assumed from the beginning of your project that you were going to acid dip the car. Just a suggestion, if you have a way to transport the car like on a flat bed trailer to a place that does acid dipping, and is close enough. You might want to let them do a pre dip inspection and estimate, that’s what they do and specializing in. These places are the best at removing rust off of old cars. And know exactly what will and won’t come off, and tell you if it’s worth it or not, before you do a lot of work. This way you could get an idea what is possible before you go through all the work and cost. You might not want to do this on the car you doing now, but maybe you can consider doing this to any other cars that you do in the future. Just something to consider. I put a short link below that shows the process, you might want to watch. It looks like your having fun that’s what counts. I really enjoy your videos. ua-cam.com/video/Cqt31JkntOA/v-deo.htmlsi=LA43pNVklv5R8kVn
0:46 - Likely a vacuum canister/reservoir for the A/C system or other option that requires extra vacuum. 7:13 - Those early generation Mustangs were notorious for inner cowl rot, especially on the right side around the inlet of the Heater/A/C box attaches. You definitely want to get the A/C box out and inspect the right side of the inner cowl. Get the left air vent housing out too and inspect as well. Make sure the inner cowl is thoroughly cleaned out as dirt and leaves collecting in this area is the primary cause for the rotting of this area.
With this level of dismantling I would skip blasting and find a company that will dip it to strip it and acid dip for the rust. They typically coat with the final rinse to stop flash rust.
Doris, it's ALWAYS more than you anticipated. You've got your hands full with this one. Fortunately, being a Mustang, all of the patch panels you need are available. Lots of cutting and welding to make this car straight.
Hi Doris, You have some good suggestions posted so far. There are several approaches to solving a problem, and using dry ice is one. However, more is needed to finish the job. I would suggest a combination of using a media sand blast and corrosion neutralizer primer will finish the job. Good work so far. ❤
It should be all worth it girl so keep going. You already started this project. I’m sure you will be very grateful that you did this and I’m sure for years to come. You’ll enjoy that ride. Don’t forget to stop by and pick me up.😎
I’d never heard of Dry Ice blasting. Thanks for the lesson Doris, you are a gem! Buddy of mine bought a 69 Firebird way back. Car was covered in body filler, so we assumed it was a rust bucket. Several hours later we had bare metal, no rust. But the driveway was covered in bondo dust. Apparently the guy was a horrible driver who kept hitting things, and hiding the dents with bondo. We were gobsmacked.
Doris the black dirt on the front inerfends is factory undercoating and I hope you get after market body panels it will make replacing the metal much easier and faster
Dustless blasting. You can strip the whole car. The water keeps the panels from heating up and there is an additive that protects the metal from flash rusting afterwards. Its the happy medium between dry ice and full sandblasting. All that rust would be gone. All that rust needs to be removed or it will come back someday.
Nice work so far. Looks like you have a solid car. When it comes to learning welding, get some lessons and practice on junk yard parts. Try to get parts that have some rust, because it takes experience to weld lightly rusted parts. Finally everyone will be able to tell if the welding is good and good luck.
Nice, a good way to clean and expose worse rust areas, plus to see how extensive the rust really is so you can proceed with the repairs. Not really to bad considering mostly 55 years old car that wasn't take car of too well.
Doris, Doris, Doris...... How in the heck to you find time to do it all!!!! Absolutely LOVE seeing a lady reviving these piece's of history!!! I STILL wanna buy the Camaro motor, if you wanna sell it to me. We are in the same neck of the desert!!
You could get the car chemical dipped and they also do primer dips. That strips everything including paint. The canister I believe is a vacuum canister.
Those powernation youtube videos will show u how to fix that old rust bucket. Go ahead and watch those 5-7 hr videos. All they deal with are classics big v8 engines. They will show how to convert drum brakes to disc
D sweetie thank you for sharing this, I learned something I didn't know about and that was using the dry ice so cool, I have 12 mustang's old to new all V8 and with a stick, a couple need restoring and this is good info to know, I am so happy and proud of you doing this stang over and love your videos totally, I really adore you and that your down to earth and also, you are so gorgeous ❤❤❤ Will Pennsylvania USA
Look like a good candidate for Peterson restorations another UA-camr he can do as Little or as much as you want and he deals in mustangs he does excellent work
All that surface rust and whatnot that you can still see with the naked eye will come back someday definitely you can count on it if you do not remove it it's a given I promise you !
Cool. AWESOME STANG❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I DIG THAT CAR. Maybe a Cage-Frame connectors that branch to the front subframe and TONS OF HEAVY METAL. 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃 And a 30 over Cleveland.
Dry ice blasting is ok for cleaning, but you’ve just opened a bit of Pandora’s box. Now it’s gonna be sandblasting, cutting, grinding, welding, more grinding, prime and paint. Good luck, chica.
Wonder what the cost was for that? The rest of that rust needs to be removed or all the body work you’ve put in or are getting ready to do is not going to last

It’s the same as soda blasting but less messy.

I like the plywood boards with shelf brackets for feet. Faster than using wood like we used to do.

Watching every progress of the work from the Philippines ❤️❤️❤️
Your repair jobs are amazing for a women like you who is driven to do such work.
Doris the black dirt on the front inerfends is factory undercoating and I hope you get after market body panels it will make replacing the metal much easier and faster
You lucked out on that girl! Awesome…patch here a patch there new floor pans…such a good find! 😍
Doris, you rock! You can buy floor pans to replace all of the rust areas. Great progress. Peace ❤

most likely a type of phosphate to prevent from flash rust.
that can on passenger side behind fender purpose is to hold vacuum to operate stuff on the ac and heater controls
If it were me and i could afford it i would have gotten one of the companies that do laser blasting that machine is phenomenal to see working..

Great job. There are products that converts the rust to primer good for the underside. You can sand & paint over.

Heater core leaked at some point
Those rust areas are normal for those old ford's and GM cars and Chrysler vehicles from the 60s also depends what part of USA they came from
It doesn't look that bad and there's company's that make patch panels good luck I'm sure it will come out good. 👍💯🙏😎
Dry ice blasting is ok for cleaning, but you’ve just opened a bit of Pandora’s box. Now it’s gonna be sandblasting, cutting, grinding, welding, more grinding, prime and paint. Good luck, chica.
It does not look as bad as it could have been, and there are no major holes, which is good. 🙂
Wow much cleaner ice ever nice... and sand blast would be such a mess leftover
Surprised there was alot less rust than I thought. Would've sworn you'd be replacing a majority of the floorboards at least.
Undercoat and cavity wax the shiz outta that thing when it's ready
What you are referring to as dirt is factory under coating
That dirt on your front inner fenders is actually undercoating.
How much did the dry ice blasting cost ? sand blasting and acid dip will get the car very clean
Sandblast then patch holes .
Anyone else in love with this woman?❤
I'll reserve my oppinion until SHE gets as old as the car.
Cayote swap!
I really enjoy your videos but what’s up with the Camry? Haven’t seen it in a while.
I think dustless I best way to go
what are u try to do with that
Que.bien😊
What ever you do it's worth it lady
I see...better than sand and safer too
Wonder what the cost was for that? The rest of that rust needs to be removed or all the body work you’ve put in or are getting ready to do is not going to last
Dry blast for rust sandblasting for oil
Think you have that the wrong way round. Sandblasting is best for removing rust.
@@garydowzall6592 ok thanks 🙏
Its worth getting a 4th gen firebird..
That's is under coating you are trying to take off the inner fenders
