Very informative insight on the Venu 2 Plus. One question on the Venu 2 Plus. Can the Venu 2 Plus display events from *Google* Calendar? All my day to day activities, appointments are entered on Google Calendar and I can view them across my devices (phone, tablet, etc) It will be perfect if the Venu 2 Plus can display events from Google Calendar.
It's been a long while since I've voluntarily suffered through a proper VO2Max test in a lab. Though, it might be a fun experiment for later this spring. That said, historically speaking I've found these devices are surprisingly close - but only if you do a workout that actually mirrors that. Meaning, most of these watches will guess Vo2max from interval or medium-high intensity workouts. And it's usually in the ballpark of accuracy (+/- 3-5 units), but I find it gets within 1-2 units when you do a very tough interval workout. Also, ideally something that's got good GPS coverage, since it's going to look at pace/speed. So a track workout might slightly undercut, same goes for a trail run.
@@Dcrainmaker it sounds like you’re leaning to products that produce a projected value for more than just the run, walk and hike algorithms in the Apple Watch. Do some of these watches allow for a projected reading from a high intensity interval workout? Based on what you’re saying would an Apple Watch outdoor 20 minute brisk walk have the widest margin from a real reading?
@@ericB3444 Yeah. Garmin, Suunto, and Polar also can do it for cycling with a power meter. Polar can actually do it while lying down (seriously), though accuracy tends to be more wobbly. Ultimately, the big thing to keep in mind is that VO2Max as a value tends to stabilize pretty quickly in a person once they become 'fit', at which point you largely plateau at whatever genetics gave you. So for someone just getting into sport it can be interesting to track initially, but if someone working out a few years consistently, it's basically not going to change anymore.
I had a recent lab test, Garmin was 4 units higher (10%) than my measured VO2 Max. I struggle with VO2 max when switch from cycling indoors/outdoors, outdoors is always 3 units higher than indoors. Ironically indoor VO2 max was closest to the measured. In my view this is one of the flaws of Garmin's Training Status whenever I train indoors, rides are always unproductive. This is the one thing I would want Garmin to fix. (not sure what influence you might have here Ray?)

Hi, really good video, I have recently bought a 2+ thanks to yours, and a few other, video reviews 👍🏾. Got it £100 cheaper at Amazon, purely due to the colour of the strap 🤷♂️, which can be easily changed (10 straps for £15 on Amazon, again 🤷♂️). Just a couple of observations. When you got out of bed to get your kids sorted, then went to back to bed for an hour, but wasn't recorded, it is likely the 2+ 'thought' you were having a nap, which you rightly point out the 2+ doesn't record. TBH, although the 2+ is a far superior and accurate to the T Rex pro I have used previously the UI on the 2+ is a bit more clunky, at least in these initial stages. But really good vid, liked, saved, subscribe 👍🏾.
Thanks for your reviews. I know this is old, so I hope you still see the messages. I'm really confused on a couple of items. Actually surprised I can't concisely find this information. 1. The Venu 2 Plus uses the Garmin Assistant. Therefore, can I say, "Hey Google, take me to the nearest Starbucks by foot" and then I start walking and it leads me to Strarbucks? 2. Music wise I use a Bluetooth headphones/Shokz, can it control the app on my phone? IOW, I say "Hey Google play Rebelution radion on Pandora" and it plays music to my bt headphones?
This is helpful, but it doesn't answer one question that I have about the speaker. Can the speaker be set to announce your running pace, i.e. the time per kilometer. With poor sight, I can't read the onscreen info. I also don't want to carry a heavy phone with me, particularly in a race. So I am looking for a watch with GPS and speaker that will provide this information without bringing a phone along on my runs.

Good afternoon. I recently bought a Garmin Venu 2 Plus model. I love it and it has everything I need. There is one problem, can you tell me what the essence is. It's about paying with Garmin Pay. I watched earlier reviews in which bloggers claimed that after the watch is put on the hand and the code is entered before payment, then in subsequent times if the watch was not removed, the code does not need to be entered. After entering the code, I still have the opportunity to pay without entering the code for 10 minutes, and then the watch asks for the code again. I deleted and relinked the card but it did not help. I tightened the belt tightly so that the watch always touched the hand, but it did not help. Is it a marriage or raw firmware? It seems that the sensor periodically does not see the watch on the hand? What do you think about this? I really hope you can give me some advice. Reply

Does the crash detection work outside of outside of excercises (running, biking, hiking or walking) or do you have to have an active excercise on? Apple watch detects falls outside of excercises.
1. Thank you for the video. 2. Just a bit too fast.. and the watch face section is more than 4 minutes but you don't even show all available watchfaces...
Hi, i would like to ask, does this watch display notificiations if google maps has an active destination on your phone? Like "turn left/turn right /arrow notifications?
Brill review but I’m so peeded off I can’t rename an activity profile to something like Functional Training, it’s really not on that Garmin or being able to edit names on the watch. CrossFit style workout is not on the watch and it is neither hiit or strength as it can be a Mix of them in one session.
They should have waited with the 945 LTE until their speaker and microphone design was ready. Now it already feels limited and outdated. I am talking about speaking with emergency services instead of trying to type out messages, when you are potentially injured, no less.
The actual shoot time was considerably longer than the edit time, and since most people don’t sit for an hour and meander around their watch displays, it’s not a meaningful metric. Real world battery is 2-3 days in always on display mode, and 5-6 days on gesture mode. Inclusive of roughly 1hr of workout per day, some of that outdoor gps and some indoors.
Does the Venu 2 Plus have golf courses pre-loaded in memory, like the Fenix 6 Pro, or does one have to upload them like on the Vivoactive series? Thanks and thanks for a really detailed review.
To save people hrs seeking the solution why notifications do not pop up on the watch screen you could add to your video to “turn off Focus mode” on iPhone :)

Correct, Body Battery is one of those exceptions that doesn't sync. Basically, it's the main one. Also, for some of the really new watches (FR255/FR955/Fenix7/Epix), HRV Status is another one that doesn't sync yet (soon though).

Great video to get a quick overview, thank you very much for that. I received my Venu 2 Plus last week. I'm very satisfied and still playing around with the display settings to see which is the most practical. With a Vivoactive 3 as my predecessor watch, I'm used to an always on-display (which is especially practical when you have to catch a train... sometimes seconds are decisive 😉). I therefore opted for the always on-setting and found that the display is deactivated in the Always on setting during the defined sleep time and remains dark (which is very practical, as the display is relatively bright even at the lowest level). On the other hand, it unfortunately remains active in the do not disturb-setting with passive backlighting. However, with a toddler, I am sometimes in bed earlier than the regular bedtime and would like to be able to temporarily turn off the display. Haven't managed to do this yet unfortunately - am I missing a setting? Many thanks in advance for any help.

Whyyyy! Epix missing speaker, venu is missing maps. Rest on market missing battery life.
Does the crash detection work outside of outside of excercises (running, biking, hiking or walking) or do you have to have an active excercise on? Apple watch detects falls outside of excercises.
how is it for swimming ?
I wish garmin would update the UI on the connect app or there would be a 3rd party software with better design for the calendar, training load etc
1. Thank you for the video.
2. Just a bit too fast.. and the watch face section is more than 4 minutes but you don't even show all available watchfaces...
Hi, is it possible to use the watch for google home? It meens for control the rutine or voice google assistant "open the garage"...? Thank you.
How can I download the Spotify app on the controls menu? When I press on the note/music icon no option appears to listen to music.
My wife has the Venu 2, I need to 1-up her without spending 1K so this watch may be the ticket.
Why is plastic ??
Thank you very much for posting this detailed tutorial!
wow in a 27 minute video the battery dropped by 4%
The actual shoot time was considerably longer than the edit time, and since most people don’t sit for an hour and meander around their watch displays, it’s not a meaningful metric. Real world battery is 2-3 days in always on display mode, and 5-6 days on gesture mode. Inclusive of roughly 1hr of workout per day, some of that outdoor gps and some indoors.
@@Dcrainmaker thanks for the info 👍
Hi do you have the problem that when you pick up the calls on iPhone and the watch be consider as Bluetooth speaker like a headphone incorrectly
Hi, does venu 2 plus detects stroke types for swimming m
A sport watch or a smartwatch without maps is a JOKE!!!
back in the day we used to use an Atlas
@@feuerherz007 I still use paper maps. But for a watch to qualify as "smart," it must contain mapping functions.
My venu 2 stuck at forcedtest mode disabled screen after restart .please advise
Where is the aiplane setting? How do i use this watch during flight?
Does the Venu 2 Plus have golf courses pre-loaded in memory, like the Fenix 6 Pro, or does one have to upload them like on the Vivoactive series?
Thanks and thanks for a really detailed review.
so almost wonderful beautiful video friend
You are a Godsend!! Thank you for this tutorial! 🙏
To save people hrs seeking the solution why notifications do not pop up on the watch screen you could add to your video to “turn off Focus mode” on iPhone :)
Can the phone function work with out the phone being in Bluetooth proximity after pairing? I hate to run with the phone and there is no SIM on the watch...Please advise
Since version 2 of Venus arrived, I'm struggling to understand whether could be ok for me. I'm 56 yo currently using a Fenix 6s because of small wrist, mainly doing biking ( I also use a edge 530, Ant+ sensors and a Polar Verity) and gym workouts, but very much into the health indicators. I was thinking to wait the Fenix 7 but the Venus has a great screen and seems to have all I desire. Will I miss anything switching from Fenix to Venus?
Why switch? Don't buy because you want the newest and greatest. The 6s is perfect .
@@Max.527 in general I would agree , but I am a lucky guy who gets from his company some fund per year to be spent for his own personal Wellness... This year I was thinking to renew my watch and I understood the Elevate 4.0 which Venu and most likely the Fenix 7 are rocking, is way better than the current
@@sebastianofuccio8460 I guess you'll have to wait for fenix 7 announcement lol
@@Max.527 I will for sure... I have no pressure... Just confused on the best choice for me. The Fenix is probably targeting more competitive audience even though I am proud of it ... The Venu looks ok , but I am not clear of I will miss something
@@sebastianofuccio8460 you wouldn't get the training metrics and status with the Garmin venu 2. That's one thing you'll miss out as compared with the Fenix
Voice assistant, how do you set it up? Does your phone screen need to be on?
Does your phone need to be near the watch to make calls?
Is there an option to display the current GPS position? Is it possible to save the gps track to a gpx file and export it to an external application?
6:10 you talk about Synching multiple Garmin watches.
Can you confirm does EVERYTHING sync with TrueUp ? I heard not. And that Body Battery does NOT sync .
Correct, Body Battery is one of those exceptions that doesn't sync. Basically, it's the main one. Also, for some of the really new watches (FR255/FR955/Fenix7/Epix), HRV Status is another one that doesn't sync yet (soon though).
So you have to hit the green thing to start the activity?
Correct
How can I use maps on this? And how do I setup quick shortcuts like switching between battery modes easily?
Its this waterproof as opposed to water resistant? I swim in the ocean every day and would like to keep track of distance the. just use it at work to answer calls? cheers
When you are in a workout mode are you able to see the time of day as well?
Where can you see the altitude when you are hiking?
great review!, does the watch show outgoing calls made from your phone? and how does incoming calls looks like in the watch?
so how do you put on the always display? there is none
No UA-cam music? Just Spotify? No thanks
That’s in UA-cam, not Garmin. They’re currently the blocker.
@@Dcrainmaker Thanks for info, but for me as a consumer this is not important. I don't want to pay two services.
Many thanks in advance for any help.
please do review on amazfit gtr 3 pro
The perfect sleep score.
🤭
Well the venu 2 ever update to show training load and effect?
No, unlikely.
Is it water resistant?? Is it ok to wear to wash dishes ?? I have venu 2 plus but I'm not sure is water resistant or not.
