- In today's video, I would like to present and review the brand new Christopher Ward Trident 3 which is a comprehensive evolution of the last generation and is perhaps the best value dive watch currently available. The model presented here is the 1000m water resistant Elite 1000 in Grade 2 titanium.

I know I am in the minority. As I like the placement of the logos. A lot of folks do not, as that is their preference. It stands out to me. It makes it unique. Many have said "get rid" of the branding. Strange. As I am sure quite a few out there would not buy a Rolex with out the logo and branding. This is not a shot at them, just seems to be a bit hypocritical. But as I said, to each their own. That's what makes collecting fun.
I wear a Submariner & all I can say is I would be proud to wear this watch, they did a superb job!!!!! Beautiful at any price.
I wear a sea dweller and I d say the same.
no complaints about my c60 Trident. Excellent quality for the price...I'll be saving for more CW's 👍👍
I love your camera, very clean picture and crisp sound.
Impressive revisions love the new case design. I’ve always had a great experience buying CWs fantastic company with a no quibble warranty. Glad to see prices remaining at sensible levels and continuing to offer outstanding value. Enjoyable balanced review Armand
Wow I saw this watch pop-up on 3 channels the same day (including this one).
Eye Heart Sushi funny that. A coincidence?
Their advertising campaign is stronger than Grand Seiko's
They gave that watch to the UA-camrs we watch. Interesting, they don't mention that this watch is a gift from the company. Sad ...
great new update to the C60 line. Love CW C60 & C65 watches. The case design now, on both the C60 & C65, is one of the best original handsome case designs I've seen in a long while. Excellently cut and finished. The bracelet, if you've ever experienced them, was excellent already and i think they've made nicer now in the C60 mk3. And, they did a great job of updating the handset to something that is now distinctly their own and overall is now original CW design.. where as before it had a number of borrowed designed elements and although many feel the previous handset were original and a CW thing, they are actually done before by Bremont first, as I understand it. So, I am glad the handset is new and completely a CW thing now. And, as always, this C60 is great value for the quality. I don't know if I'd want this LE version.. I'd probably be pretty happy with the standard new C60 variant.
They really produce fantastic value .They keep the improvements coming and the quality price ratio is quite simply stunning. I had no hesitation in ordering last night when they became available I’m sure it will be outstanding..
It's the quality/ price ratio with CW. Even those with a Rolex or Omega would have respect for CW.
Christopher Ward makes watches looking more eye catching and nicer than many other watch brands . I like their attention to details and you can see those when you look at the watch. It's better looking than Omega Seamaster and I appreciate the fact that they don't copy cat Rolex Submariner at all .
Kudos to them and thank you for this long and extensive video
Following several questions, and for full disclosure, Christopher Ward have allowed me to keep the review piece for personal use. I was not, however, paid to make any particular statement about the watch other than to produce a review, for better or for worse. I hope that this will add a layer of transparency.
Please stay sincere, .return them the watch , we want to believe your reviews ! Being paid/gifted destroy the credibility of the review, make your decent income from your great knowledge and quality staff, not from disguised commercial ♥
@@amitlesly: I appreciate your sentiment, however, I will point out that charging for reviews is something which takes place behind all journalists how discuss goods. In this particular situation, I was going to buy the watch anyway due to my support for it as a product, and after all, why would I wear a watch which I don't fully support?
@@amitlesly it does not destroy the credibility. The watch stands on its own merits. (Yes, I have purchased and received the watch). Not everyone can be bought. After owningnthisbwatchbfor about a month, I believe this review to be spot on. I do not know this reviewer, or have any ties to CW. I simply enjoy the watch and have had many compliments on it. If he returns the watch and keeps the review, how is that change the facts of the watch? Everything would remain the same. He just wouldn't have a watch he likes.
It's been interesting to watch Take Time, Bark and Jack, and now your video on this watch. Fascinating to see the common threads.
They all get a free watch and give a positive review of the brand 🤷🏻♂️
Great review. This watch seems to be hitting the right marks. I own an earlier version of the C60 Trident (with day/ date)........I love the watch. I'm glad to see Ch Ward adding the Anglo-Swiss cross logo to the dial....I wish mine had that. As for the CW name at the 9 o'clock, a bit odd but also very CW. I like it & hope they keep it there. It lets everyone know it's a Christopher Ward. Thanks for another great video.
Great review and good looking watch. I personally don’t have a problem with the branding at 9, each to their own I guess.
Most nice. Sleek, elegant and simple as well as functional. Quite a lot of watch for 1200 quid. I'd like to see the steel on bracelet for comparison.
I'm a luddite who prefers the earlier handset. I can live with the nine o'clock script. Beautiful case and overall presentation. Well done Christopher Ward!
Loving the new introductions Armand, slick and contemporary really great. Good review not sure on CW myself but it looks like they are working hard and improving all the time.
I bought and sold the watch. It checked all my boxes. Beautiful, great lume and swiss made. My issue ended up being with the movement. The watch would shake when wound. I contacted Chris. Ward and returned the watch for review. They sent it back and said it was within their normalcy. Others were having the same problem. I was on Facebook Christopher Ward Enthusiasts and observed some videos of others having the same problem. Some suggested returning the watch. I did and they did nothing other than say it was fine. Also, I loved the 5 year warrant. Note on that. You have to have it serviced by them within 2-3 years or the warranty is basically voided. Any repairs will be out of pocket if not serviced. I was saddened to sale it. I wanted to love the watch.
Good video, thanks for posting! 👍
I love so many of Christopher Ward’s designs but they have to do something about that logo. To me it looks like something a fashion watch brand would use. Can they not just use a simple CW logo at the 12 position? Great detail Armand and a very well thought out review as usual!
Agree I will buy one if I see a logo like the trident and christoper ward below that logo at 12 oclock
Just a final thought: if they could incorporate the design language of the Bonnaire Meraud...
I mean, for a beginner, this guy hits it just right. Good original looks, branding ok...
If they did that, with the manufacturing power they have now, it would be a powerful thing.
Great review and very nice watch, thanks for sharing👍🍻
Another excellent presentation Armand. I am glad that I waited for this release of the Trident range. They are truely beautiful and one will be ion my collection in the near future, regards
I seem to be in the minority as I have no problem with the branding at 9 o'clock, just as I don't have an issue when I see ORIS in huge letters.
Why be ashamed of people seeing what it is? If someone thinks it's on a par with a Daniel Wellington or whatever, who cares..
Nothing to do with seeing the name, it's the way it totally unbalances the dial that many of us object to. Just center justify it at 12. Job done.
I like the fact that the name is where it is. Something different. Everyone wants the brand in the same position as every other watch. Then where is the uniqueness? I like the fact that CW refuses to bend to "the will" of the people. A true artist never does. Can't wait to receive mine. Ordered today.
Northwest at nite absolutely 👍👍
agreed, I like where the logo is as well. i have ordered and it arrived a week ago. despite titanium can get scratched up easily, this is an absolute cracking piece.
Peter Shallis It’s just their logo, they should put more effort in making it an astounding one. Nothing wrong with their name, or who they are. No snobbery issues. Branding, logo is very important too if you want to distinguish yourselve from the others. The whole package needs to be right if you want to be noticed and not quickly forgotten...
Gorgeous watch! I wonder how the titanium case fares - visually - as it gets scratched up etc. Someday I may need to add a CW to the collection!
yes, I have already done it... on the lug.🤦♂️😅
@@ricchrono5907 Man - I'm just watching all the scratches accumulate on my DolceVita hehe :/
beautiful watch, LE #007, you got the Bond Watch my friend, lucky guy
I like this. More modern looking than the old version which I have owned. Totally over the logo position too. It’s absolutely fine.
When you purchase a new car you don’t ask the dealer to remove the vehicles emblem, so why so much negativity about the CW on the dial? This is a brand so either accept it or forget it :)
Eddy Smith I like it, don’t see nothing wrong with it. I mean Pateks and Merciers have full name on dials.
I like this watch, wish they could play a bit more on the texture of the dial though.
oh btw, I just placed order....😅
That looks really smart
Great review on a very cool diver. Thanks Armand
Good video dude i ordered mine in titanium is gonna be my first c.w. watch I've been keeping an eye on them for sometime at the end of the day is what you like and makes you happy what it matters who gives a fuck what the haters think about the watch or your video for that matter
Handsome watch.
Nice watch. Does have a Planet Ocean vibe which is a good thing. Price point is spot on. How can Christopher Ward get it so right yet Bremont, as another British brand, seems to be fumbling around in the dark.
You got that exactly the wrong way round.
CW is a good quality, modern English brand that does good watches at decent prices rivalling seiko and Oris. CW is honest about their movements and up front about a lot and offers something a bit different at good value for money.
Bremont is a modern brand that does good watches at higher prices(omega and Tudor) but is less honest and is set out as a more prestigious brand, for me inwould take a CW over a Bremont all day long.
I’m afraid to say the Cristopher Ward script at 21.00hrs. spoils the dial aesthetic for me!
Ita all about branding and this brand is the KIA of the watch community.
...your intros are getting better and better...almost surpassing the ny urban rat...
Are u referring to urban-rat-tgv?
Nice watch, my only complain is that I found the indexes are bit longer.
I find the design of Christopher Ward watches attractive, and I understand why they put the "Christopher Ward" text at 9, as a way to balance the date window at 3, but if they do have no-date watches (which I would be very much drawn to), I'd find the text to be too much, with the logo at 12 being perfectly adequate.
Nice watch nice brand nice video....wish they would spend a few more Penny's and buy white on blue date disk. It spoils my C65 as well
You have been paid. You were gifted a watch you reviewed. This is nothing more than commercial for watch that was gifted to you
Bear Clooney Watches generic watch that is overpriced, for the sake of marketing.
He will also be paid in views.
Face of the watch looks good. From the side the case is awkward and not appealing to me. Also I get why, but 38h power reserve is on the low end these days and personally prefer minimum of around 55h or so. Strap looks very nice and would love to try it
It would be aesthetically acceptable if it lost the 'Christopher Ward' text at 9 o'clock. Designed correctly no HE valve required.
I must admit I prefer the style of the Rapide collection in terms of branding. They have the cross logo at 12 o'clock but do not have the full Christopher Ward at 9 o'clock which I must say I dislike. Additionally, I really like the wave pattern of the dial in the previous tridents. That was unique and I am disappointed to see that dispensed with. However, it is still a nice watch which I am sure we appeal to many
Great review. Would you recommend this over monta oceanking? Looking for an every day watch. 7.5” wrist for reference.
Thanks!
(Btw, That damn Christopher ward text at 9 is terrible. They should rebrand and change name. Looks like they make great watches but I think it puts a lot of people off )
the name is putting me off and i want one.
Hi nice review, is there any cheaper alternative for this model??
CW definitely has to fix their logo issue. They make great watches but also ruin them by putting their awfully long brand name on the dials.
Totally agree
Same here, its too bad.
Ever since their logo change like for like models with the logo change have increased in sales and they're growing at a rate of 20% year on year lots are vocal to say they dont like it and opinion on the logo is subjective but the numbers dont lie
Ive emailed them specifically about this but they say sales show that is incorrect. The new logo is great, having the full Christopher ward stamped on the dial is nasty
Everyone complains about the logo... but why does nobody complain about JLC or Audemars Piguet? Both have their initials-logo AND their full name right there on the face.
Christopher Ward has created an incredible value-to-build brand and if you were to compare any of these against, say a TAG Heuer, Longines, or ORIS, the build and fit/finish of CW is well beyond. The problem everyone has is that CW has gone through 3 iterations of their logo since inception, and seeing one change throws people off. Had CW launched with this layout, there would be hardly a word about it.
Quit overthinking the logo and look at the overall package. It is an INCREDIBLY well made and beautifully engineered/designed piece of kit that should make the brands mentioned earlier wonder what they offer for their more premium price.
Excellent video, as always, Armand. I know it's completely superficial and to personal taste, but while I think this is a good looking watch and that Christopher Ward makes excellent watches for the money, I much prefer the old classic logo. Enough so that, if given the choice, I would probably purchase another watch with comparable specifications at a similar price point over the Christopher Ward. Again, I know it's superficial, but I really do dislike the new logo.
Great review. The color scheme is of the moment, but may become dated....similar to the 70s race watches.
Some nice designs from this maker..... Ruined imo by the branding / text gives the watches a cheap department store fashion watch appearance.
Christ they got to you too. Is nobody on UA-cam not for sale?
Lol
Sure seems that way
I don’t believe that CW paid any of the UA-cam reviewers - no need, since CW makes a good product that viewers want to see. This said, CW is surely very aware of how to leverage social media for marketing - that’s part of how they keep their prices as low as they do.
@@valjean3141 Other You Tube watch channel reviewers have admitted to being given the watches to keep. At least with the non-Elite version. Not sure if the Elite reviewers are too, but would not be surprised.
Legionnaire Gonk You are right, and I was wrong- I saw the Bark and Jack guy acknowledge this yesterday. Not sure how this “gift” might have influenced reviewers’ perceptions, but it’s surely annoying to have to discount all of these reviews for conflict of interest.
Such a good looking watch, totally ruined down by that random name on the dial.
The random name is the brand, its just in the wrong place should be at 12. Every watch brand has its brand name on the dial
A good review, as always, but overshadowed, to a certain extent, by negative comments regarding ‘gifting’ of the watch. Reviewers are ‘between a rock and a hard place’ on this issue!?
Back to the watch, which I like with the English/Swiss flag logo at twelve, but, as other comments, not the ‘CW’ at nine.
It is priced competitively for a COSC rated watch, and should sell well.
I dont think reviewers are between a rock and a hard place, it's just noticeable to viewers that every UA-cam channel suddenly gives a positive review with little to no negatives and 50% mention they are given the watch and the rest dont mention it. I'm guessing they all didnt realise that UA-cam would be saturated with glowing CW reviews at the same time.
Great value, well finished, Ti + ceramic, impressive debth rating. Overall, a very good watch but not for me.
Good review, I'll definitely be looking more closely if it's under £1000.
I like what they are doing, only the branding... it seems to be an issue with a lot of people.
In a world where branding is so important, even decisive for some, one cannot underestimate the power of it. I wish they listened to their customers, and bloody do something about it.
I think they could be an even better brand if they put more effort in their designs. Just by looking at the strap of this watch, i can see it is not a supple affair. Other options exist... It’s almost hard to believe this brand is the brainchild of watch enthusiasts. What do you think Armand, do you feel their can be more to this brand?
Very nice watch altho id change the strap. Too much yellow, unless its used for body emergency location purposes... underwater. :)
Do i detect shades of the pelagos???
I will never understand why they changed their logo. I like the new Tridents, but I will never buy one with this silly text.
The rubber strap is very disappointing, really uncomfortable and sits at an odd angle on the wrist . It’s a pain that I now have to order a bracelet...otherwise a very good watch .
They should go back to the old branding. And I would absolutely buy one of their pieces
Great watch. No way I would buy with branding though.
Why would I trek with a watch like these in Antarctica?
Come on! It’s too blatant a rip off of the planet ocean!! This watch is really doing the rounds. 4 or 5 reviews and no one has mentioned this. Very strange.
You haven't been paid? Yes, yes you have. The gift of this watch is a de facto payment. That's journalistic ethics 101. The semantics and twists of logic which you and others of your ilk perform to explain this away are laughable. The posh accent should not fool people. Viewers who object to paid reviews like this should unsubscribe.
Yes, you are right. I will unsubscribe.
omg what was the intro music Armand?
No one should buy the 42mm version.. Looks like a clock on almost any wrist
+ Eric Viola: Well, perhaps for some wrists, though I feel that that particular choice is up to the individual and their wrist.
To each his own. I think that 40 often looks too delicate on wrists at or above 7 in - but that’s a function of personal preference. I guess I like clocks.
@@valjean3141 Yes, you do.
Just because you have feminine wrists doesn't mean everyone else does.
as i said elsewhere: they removed everything that made the original unique, and made a very well made but generic, unremarkable diver that looks as pedestrian as humanly possible.
the bracelet is awesome, and the new "hybrid" rubber straps look terrific (i'll be definitely getting one for my Bronze Trident, even though i just got a very well made isofrane-style one), but the watch itself is so... boring. nothing to hate other than their new awful logo and the bad placement of the date. but also nothing to love. just meh. and the "top grade" Elite one is overpriced as hell. thick as hell with a generic SW200 movement (though COSC certified).
for that price, i'd rather have an Orion or Monta or Tourby, just to name a few, all of them with equal (Tourby) or much much better movements (the others), much more distinct visuals and all of them just as well made (if not better) for similar prices... but they're not titanium (so? Hamtun's offering with the same movement was a fourth of the price and looked better and comes with a titanium bracelet) and have lower depth rating (again so what? if you need a watch with 1000m wr, you don't need a watch but a dive computer. it's not the 60ies)
best value dive watch of 2019?! not even remotely close. it sure is the most unremarkable diver of 2019, though...
Here's a thought. Don't like it, don't buy. Wasn't that simple?
@@vvvhhhhhbb guess what? i didn't buy it! shocking, i know... does that mean that i can't express my opinion? jesus christ, the fanboys...
An opinion is one thing. Your "opinion" was nothing short of bashing. And calling me a "fanboy" signifies what exactly? Just that statement alone voids your "opinion". I am quite glad, and I am sure so are many that you didn't buy this watch. It's not for you. It's for the people who can appreciate a micro brand trying to do something. For the people who appreciate like Arthur Guinness when he started his Brewery and everyone came down on him. And hundreds of years later is a staple. So yes you can give your opinion, maybe if you weren't such a fanboy of and in itself, you could give a respectful opinion; which is called the criticism.
It's to big for your wrist
No it is not
