I love that the first thought either John or Arthur have when they see a dead, mutilated man at a ritual site with a deer skull mask on is "sweet, new hat."

This game really did a good job at making me feel uncomfortable. The depictions of cults and demons are really... not realistic, but grounded. There’s nothing too outlandish. Every cult related thing that happens is real enough to seem plausible, yet weird enough to be creepy. I love it and I wish we’d get a cult themed expansion for RDR2
To be fair, that's how cults and demon worship are in the real world. They often have very little to do with the source material. For example, human sacrifice was very rare in Pagan religions. It was only really the more radical sects that practiced it to any degree. Pop culture popularised the idea of it for demonic worship. Before that, it was used as a way to demonise Pagans to try and stamp out the religion. The less people followed the church, the less money they made. That's one of the reasons why witches are generally seen as "the bad guy", when in reality, most witches are wonderful people.
It is realistic because there has been/is satanic/pagan cults that have mutilated people in this fashion. You can find some crime scene photos of some famous cases in the early 1900s and even as recent as the 1980s/1990s. They are somewhat uncommon but they do happen, it's a big world out there and lots of screwed up, evil people in it.
What I always found creepy about the ritual site is how there's some kind of weird noise or music or something that plays softly in the background, almost like you can hear the residual dark energy left behind from the ritual still emanating from the objects and very ground used in the ritual
Yeah bro. Its that eerie music to make u feel uncomfortable. Rockstar did a good job on making the player feel the energy. They play creepy music when u walk down the trail in tall trees with all the dead bodies tied to and hanging from the trees also. And they play creepy music when u find the serial killers killing scenes.
I really, really hoped we'd get the Wendigo or something like that. Spend enough time in Blackbone Forest at night and you'll see what I mean. Native American legends like that would be awesome to have instead of just more zombies. Though, I really am glad they're doing something for halloween, though.

Your videos are great. When you explain something, then you actually explain it. Too often we see explained in the title, and all we get is speculation with zero evidence. So I have a further theory on this, but I could use some help with it. Just NW of the pagan ritual site, there's an obelisk which starts you on the Landmarks of Riches treasure map chain. It's just a short distance from the ritual site, which has a mask and strange painted symbols around it. The next location in the chain is the tiny church just south of Lakay. Lakay is the supposed origin for this theory, and it ALSO has strange symbols (on the trees this time) and a mask. The third location is the turtle house NE of Bacchus Station, and the turtle house has a strange symbol on the roof. That said, I cannot find a unique mask nearby, and I have not investigated the next location either. I don't know if someone with access to the game files would know for certain if there are no other, undiscovered masks, or if anyone would be willing to help scout the area, but I find it interesting that in two of the Voodoo/Palo Mayombe sites you also have masks and landmarks. It just seems like an odd coincidence unless the two were related somehow. Thanks for any help or info you can offer!
I'm a little behind on playing games. I started this game for the first time about a week ago and found this ritual site while hunting and it scared me to death. I absolutely love everything about this game so far but I never expected it to be scary. And it makes me love it even more. I dont want to watch too many videos about secrets of RDR2, I dont want anything spoiled but I will be exploring and examining everything much more closely. I knew this game was dense with detail but I guess it has a lot more to it than I thought. Very interesting video and excellent editing!
bro you have NO idea how deep this game is. it is the same with gta 5, but rdr 2 is even more full of hidden secrets and scary stuff. honestly, if you dont watch such videos, you gonna miss a lot of stuff, unless you explore every inch of the map for months or even years
This is actually refreshing... your the first person to actually teach me something new.... even if it's something I've done... the gaps always get filled
Ok I just discovered something. A few hours ago I was revisiting this location with John just to remember the all good times and of course somethings have changed. The body has disapeared and also some of the cattle heads around it which it´s normal because the game has a sistem of decomposing and deleting dead bodies (also happens with the donkey lady if you revisit the place long time after discovering her, the body will be missing). The strange thing is that the goat head in the principal altar remains unaltered which is rare, but also, watching these video I realised that there are new symbols that weren´t there the first time (they don´t appear either on the video because it´s quite old). If you shoot the candles on the altar with the goat head, behind them you can find a new symbol in the same style as the others but instead of white it is blue.
Considering where the ritual site is first found suggests that The Night Folk were trying to branch out into other parts of the land. OR the symbols you found on the trees could also suggest they were trying to keep OTHERS out of their claimed territory.
I found your channel by recommendation and I have been binge watching everything! You're editing and information is so good! The theories don't sound out there and actually make sense! I love your channel!
This and the Strange Man Explained video are automatically going to my Favorites list. Awesome explanation coupled with equally awesome background music, and nice editing on the Dead Eye shooting. Keep it up.
I actually always thought that the Skinner Brothers were a part of the ritual site seeing as they're in a much closer proximity, but I never really noticed the symbols on the rocks or even explored much of the swamp to notice.
On the Ambarino section of the map, strange symbols can be found near the hill house location. I don’t know if this correlates to the pagan rituals, but it might connect with the window rock area and the strange statues found in a nearby cave.
This editing is god-tier. Not to mention the depth taken to explore a cult that leads to practically the other side of the map. Great job, I will be binging the rest of your content now 😂.
I'm sure that everyone notices but in the single player game, that's when the gang and Arthur start to really get affected by anxiety and depression. They completely start to fall apart. Friends turn on friends. I know they were under a ton of pressure but to me, it's just weird that those pagan symbols are around there and then weird things start happening.
Dude, i love this shit man. What an amazing video. Im currently doing a sleep in shift at work, the guys are in bed and the wake night is doing whatever and im creeped the hell out now lol. Amazing music amazing video. Now ive got to try and sleep lol
I agree with almost everything. But the explanation of the pagan ritual location is kinda weak. There's got to be more to the location than just; Rockstar didn't wanna make it too easy.
I believe if u do "evil" or black magic spells that attract dark entities it's best to perform that away from ur home to not attract the negativity and bad energy to u and ur home
Alin Petrescu They either moved out themselves or those cannibals forced them out because if you go to the lake near strawberry there are some people eating dead humans.
I watched two of your videos and I already love this channel. The music, the way you don't put filler like MrBoss or any other clickbait Rockstar related channels. You're amazing, keep doing what you're doing.
the scariest part about Lakay is that the gang set up shop there for a bit, and could of been killed by the Night folk before you returned back form Guarma. ps I don't think the Night Folk would travel two states over to perform a ritual.
Thank you for your hard work discovering all these secrets and Easter eggs. Crazy how I've played red dead redemption 2 for nearly 300 hours and haven't found half of these yet. Just the other day I found the dwarf Church near lakay. This has to be the best open world ever created, I can't think of any that come close.
7:50 that was fucking insane, i love your attention to detail, how you play with the music and the Camera it’s amazing, and some awesome Research you’re a Genius
There's a night folk woman by a fire...she's crying if I remember correctly and when you interact with her they all come out and attack...there's also a stranger mission involving night folk where you help this old dude get rid of them from his property
Excellent work on this video! Nice job spotting the symbols in both locations! Kudos on the research!Liked and subscribed. Nevertheless, here are a few things to consider: (1) For centuries peoples from Africa, the Caribbean islands, and both north and south Americas were intermingling, many of them uneducated and/or illiterate. Voodoo, Santeria, Palo Mayombe, and many others were often mixed and intertwined in their re-telling as they were passed-down for generations, each time getting slightly morphed from the new orators perspective. And in the American bayou there were no solid rules for these conflagrations. Aside from the mish-mashing of deities and beliefs, also understand that not everyone is a good artist or has good hand-writing. So we must account for tremendous variation in symbolism, just like looking at hand-writing from one century to the next. Therefore it is not odd or out of place for *RD to mix a few things up to get our curiosity brewing. (2) While I agree the Nightfolk are directly related to the dark religious practices in the bayou, there is not a strong connection to the pagan ritual site in Big Valley. I can speculate three ways they were co-mingled without direct relation to one another. (A) One of the Nightfolk happened to end up in Big Valley, years or even centuries after the pagan site was originally constructed/used, and decided to add their own decor, maybe even use the site themselves apart from its original founders. (B) Someone from the Nightfolk was in that area and met with the pagans, found shared commonalities and somehow performed a ritual with them, adding the Nightfolk symbols in an attempt to integrate with the pagans (s)he was among at the time. (C) Someone from the pagan group made their way south for whatever reason/circumstances and integrated with the Nightfolk. * Keep in mind the main center symbol of the pagan site is not found (yet, to our knowledge) in the bayou, and it appears to be the most important in the perspective of the pagan group. Moreover, there are no ritual sites, alters, or other structures in Lakay. The Nightfolk kill indiscriminately, where as the pagan group has formal rituals. (3) The connection between Nightfolk and the amalgamated Cajun Voodoo practice is an obvious one; BUT why are the pagan ritual site, the Native American ritual/burials site and the obelisk so close in proximity to one another? Only one other burial/ritual site exists in the game, the Norse/Native American site in northeastern Roanoke Ridge. It is often said by archaeologists and theology scholars that many religions share many common elements; thus it would seem Big Valley draws people closer to (their) god(s) for some reason, and the area holds great spiritual importance and mystery. The three sites form a triangle of sorts, and are all just west of Mount Shann, with the scorched Black Forest just to the north. The 2nd UFO appearance occurrs on top of Mount Shann, and there is also another stone obelsik type structure within another ritual site of some sort. One site re-animates life, another brings rain when fire is present, the third has a map to treasure, and the 4th brings a UFO -- are these clues in among themselves? These mysteries are potentially tied to the alien presence we also encounter. Because primitive peoples would have considered extraterrestrial life to be god(s).
You sir just got another subscriber. your videos are some of the best I have seen. I would say you are the best content creator for RDR2 mysteries and solving them. Please keep going cause there are so many other stories that can be covered. Just to name a few that would be interesting; fertility statues, supposedly there is a 3rd meteorite location, Aztec symbols in Blackwater, vampire in Saint Denise. And to top it all off would be the story of you in RDR2, the Strange Man(the Strange Man's house with the painting being painted over time is just crazy).
Great video as always, though I do think there are other explanations as to why Lakay is abandoned aside from just "black magic cult" attack and the ways in which you talk about voodoo and linking it with black magic does a real disservice to the religion. I think it's more likely that Lakay was a town set up either by runaway enslaved individuals or those recently freed after the Civil War and they were practitioners of Voodoo. Voodoo comes about as a truly Afro-American religion through the combination of traditional West African Vodun and Christianity as religion was tightly controlled by slave owners and evolved from hiding the loa (the spirits in Vodun) behind various saints and Christian figures to the syncretism of the two. There is a long tradition throughout much of the America's but particularly in the region of the deep south Lakay is based on of enslaved individuals escaping into the countryside and founding their own colonies and following the end of the war many freedman's towns were established by the formerly enslaved. This would also explain why there are elements of Palo Mayombe present as different groups of enslaved peoples were brought in they would bring with them the different religious elements and could also represent the large extent of illegal slave trading going on between the US and other Caribbean colonies even after the outlaw of the international slave trade (the last confirmed slave ship to land in the US was in 1860, well after the outlaw of the international slave trade). This would better explain why there is a church present but also the various aspects of Voodoo. The reason it was abandoned could very well do with the fact there is the KKK in the game who along with various other white supremacist groups routinely attacked these communities. I'm sure Rockstar was more looking at it from a more Hollywood "White Zombie" form of Voodoo that they put into the game but there is the possibility for the deeper relation to the historical narrative that relies less on the traditional view of Voodoo as "dark magic" and instead on the actual merits of the religion.
I still can’t get over how high quality all your videos are, the editing itself is amazing, but it’s also clear when someone does something for views and when they do it because they’re passionate about it. It’s obvious you’re the latter. It’s really cool.

bro you have NO idea how deep this game is. it is the same with gta 5, but rdr 2 is even more full of hidden secrets and scary stuff. honestly, if you dont watch such videos, you gonna miss a lot of stuff, unless you explore every inch of the map for months or even years
I love how much work he puts in his videos.
The way you Edit is Stunning, That Gun Sync With the Music Was AMAZING.
When it comes to editing, you're a professional.
Interesting video! Love how you don't use vocals to make the creepy ones even creepier.
When a video covering part of the game feels like a DLC
This and the Strange Man Explained video are automatically going to my Favorites list. Awesome explanation coupled with equally awesome background music, and nice editing on the Dead Eye shooting. Keep it up.
I actually always thought that the Skinner Brothers were a part of the ritual site seeing as they're in a much closer proximity, but I never really noticed the symbols on the rocks or even explored much of the swamp to notice.
11/10 on the editing my man! Superb editing skills and awesome deductive skills!
And the strange dude who follows you the whole game 👀
Great music makes for a really scary atmosphere & video. The explanation of story is brilliant too!!👹
Dude, i love this shit man. What an amazing video. Im currently doing a sleep in shift at work, the guys are in bed and the wake night is doing whatever and im creeped the hell out now lol. Amazing music amazing video. Now ive got to try and sleep lol
The music and editing make this work so well
I agree with almost everything. But the explanation of the pagan ritual location is kinda weak. There's got to be more to the location than just; Rockstar didn't wanna make it too easy.
Maybe the night folks moved and went to lakay.
@@kidsfromyesterday6025 Maybe they were forced out of the area.
@@R3fug333 By who? Or what? Not many people in Red Dead can be scarier than the night folk
"Hey Abigail, look what I found!"
"... mmkay, I need a few months away from this."
seriously this channel and fizhy are the best rdr2 channels. Mad respect for both
Fantastic content, keep up the great work!
This editing is beyond over the top, beyond top notch, beyond words.
I honestly just thought it was a reference to Bone Tomahawk and just forgot about it, nevermind the rest of this. God damn I missed a LOT.
Thank you for the thought you put into your videos and the time you take to edit them. Well done.
You're pretty good at this.
Ok. You have just gained another subscriber. This video was seriously edit so well that at times it felt like I was watching a movie trailer.
the scariest part about Lakay is that the gang set up shop there for a bit, and could of been killed by the Night folk before you returned back form Guarma. ps I don't think the Night Folk would travel two states over to perform a ritual.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the numerous compasses placed throughout the game. Is there any meaning behind them?
Jeff Osland is there any hint to where to find these compasses ?
i heard they could possibly just be prop pieces
The naval compass is in one of the braithewaites buildings on the waterside
7:50 that was fucking insane, i love your attention to detail, how you play with the music and the Camera it’s amazing, and some awesome Research you’re a Genius
I spent so much time in the swamp yet never had a run in with the night folk
Yeah they arent all that easy to find, the only time ive run into them is in Bluewater almost in Lemoyne
There's a night folk woman by a fire...she's crying if I remember correctly and when you interact with her they all come out and attack...there's also a stranger mission involving night folk where you help this old dude get rid of them from his property
Super cool editing and straightforward content! Thanks a bunch
Excellent work on this video! Nice job spotting the symbols in both locations! Kudos on the research!Liked and subscribed.
Nevertheless, here are a few things to consider:
(1) For centuries peoples from Africa, the Caribbean islands, and both north and south Americas were intermingling, many of them uneducated and/or illiterate.
Another great video.
Keep em coming.
Thank you man, I was just going to sleep...
Welcome to the club
I'm sure Rockstar was more looking at it from a more Hollywood "White Zombie" form of Voodoo that they put into the game but there is the possibility for the deeper relation to the historical narrative that relies less on the traditional view of Voodoo as "dark magic" and instead on the actual merits of the religion.
nah
I still can’t get over how high quality all your videos are, the editing itself is amazing, but it’s also clear when someone does something for views and when they do it because they’re passionate about it. It’s obvious you’re the latter. It’s really cool.
Has anyone ever tested whether the Night Folk might react differently toward Arthur or John if they are wearing one of the Pagan masks?
This is an insane work I have never seen such an editing in a rdr2 vid!! Plus you just resolve mysteries like thats nothing and I think thats beautiful, GJ
In the first legendary bounty in rdo you must Capture or kill a member of the night folk, in the mission they apparently tamed Alligators.
I know what legendary bounty I’m doing next now!
I'd kill that bastard
@Lord Shaxx, I am ready to prove my worth!
Raphael Naidoo The Crucible awaits.
I'm so glad I came across this channel. The editing is so on point, I actually feel tense during moments.

John/Arthur well this looks like it’ll make a GREAT hat!
Thank you again. The amount of research and detail you put into this and all your videos is highly commendable. If there were such a thing as a doctorate in Red Dead Studies, you would have it.
This dude is grinding subs this morning i sae him at 4.11k then a hour later 4.68k and now 8 hours later 5k well done man
Your videos quality is just AMAZING!

@Ruben Feneser I miss that antagonist so much
@Ruben Feneser Yeah i hope so
Great video. Really spooky! It would be awesome if the Pagan mask made the Night Folk not attack you and you could get a glimpse into their lives.
Decorative “shrunken church...”
Your editing is top tier man, really. Amazing video.
I think this could be linked to the Norwegian settlers at Manzanitas post
Bruh!!! Your channel is legit!! Always get excited when I see a new vid drop. Keep at it, you’re awesome!
