I still believe that he has an actual power to project his fear onto other people. Atomic Samurai is a honed unit, he's not an emotional individual who lets it cloud his judgement of people, but his judgement was clouded, and he experienced fear.
If anyone can break their limiter like Saitama...it'll be King. How many times has King been on the verge of death and survived? He's pushed through every life threatening situation physically and more importantly mentally. He may be the mentalist counterpart to Saitama's limitless strength.
i have such a hunch that will be some sorta laaate game pay off for King. im betting something along the lines of saitama actually needing alittle help and boom random King with some random power.
King actually died under Cosmic Garou radiation, there’s a manga panel in which he’s lying dead with other heroes once Garou and Saitama come back to the Earth from Saturn’s satellite. So his super luck has limits as well.
Let me know if y'all like this alternative scenario for King. Taking up the pose before slicing the Apple. Everyone is staring intensely at King. After a couple of minutes, he puts the sword down and walks away. King thinks to himself maybe I should come up with a reason for them not to get close to the apple so they won't find out I didn't cut it. He couldn't come up with anything, so he simply tells them not to get close to the Apple he wouldn't want anything bad to happen to them. They look on with confusion except for Atomic. Suddenly Atomic yells for everybody to clear the way and get away as far as they can. after a few minutes of running. A huge Explosion happens right where the apple is at. And what seemed like an explosion was actually saitama landing and jumping away fighting another monster. But Atomic saw it as king accidentally splitting one of the atoms of the Apple, causing an explosion because he remembered that King said that he was an amateur with a sword.

Seems like you can outscale King's power, its shown that the stronger an opponent is the harder it is for King to convince them. Atomic Samurai was able to put up a pretty good fight for a while, same with platinum S but for Saitama he simply saw through him straight away.
King reminds me of that movie with Peter Sellers "Being there" where everyone thought he was a genius and the reality he was simpleton. The comparisons are too similar and funny. Nice video Plot Armor!!
King DOES have a pretty potent power, though: no matter what happens, things just always seem to work out for him - his power is that of forcing the perception of others, even if unintentionally, and that actually ends up being an extremely powerful ability. Consider that his mere presence and the beating of his heart, however much of a gag to us as the READERS, is sufficient enough to bring S-class heroes capable of leveling city blocks to their knees, or influence their actions EVEN WHEN they are determined to fight him - something always stops them. He can stop the fight before it even begins, and what's more, he has the ability to draw - however unintentionally, powerful allies to his side like Saitama at just the right time. If you look at it from that perspective, that isn't actually just a joke power. It's REAL power. The universe winds around him, rather than him working to accommodate the universe. He has been faced with truly powerful, deadly enemies and walked away without a scratch not just because he's "lucky" but because there is something fundamental to King that holds a powerful influence over those around him such that he doesn't NEED physical strength to subdue them - or even to try at all. In that sense, with even some of the strongest of the strong changing their actions because he's simply THERE, you cannot deny there's power in that. Still....I'd really like a story arc where Saitama trains King to break his limits and JUST when the other heroes think they're onto King, and are SURE that he's actually weak and are SURE they're about to expose him publicly as a fake, THAT'S right after he breaks his limit and becomes, like Saitama, unfathomably strong. Then Saitama and King could have fun fighting an equal in each other, or just play video games because physical strength bores them so much. THAT would be a fun arc for the end of OPM.
Right. If King got strong outside of his ability then his ability would be severely nerfed in all but dire circumstances. It's practically pointless for him to bother.

If King instead felt confident then what if that confidence was projected onto his opponents instead? King's ability shines best when he's terrified of his opponent or the situation. You could say even "the situation" itself becomes as afraid of him as he is of it. That's how I see it and why I made that comment. My theory is it syncs their heart rate and emotions with his. But it could also be a luck/fame ability too and the heartbeat thing is just a byproduct. "Breaking his limit" could mean learning to walk forward into increasingly dangerous scenarios no matter how afraid he is. I guess we'll find out if it's a luck-based ability soon enough. Either way he has to learn to dive into the fire and trust that he will succeed. That doesn't mean "no longer being afraid" either.

I remember seeing a fan made comic of this exact chapter months ago well it’s like 95% similar I think the creators took inspiration for that and made it and an actual chapter but the fan made chapter ends after atomic says he will go redo his training Edit : like 80-90% similar
That wasn't fan made. That was a chapter of the original One Punch Man webcomic. This manga is actually a "remake" of sorts of that, drawn by a different artist.
That is the author (ONE) original draft for the manga... Drew by himself... Its not fan comic at all.... The mangaka for one punch man is murata but the author is ONE..
You know, it occurs to me that the moment with the "sword-reading" is actually kinda perfect. Obviously Atomic completely misreads the situation and that's part of the gag, but if you think about it in terms of what actually happened, it fits King perfectly. He was completely incapable of performing even the most basic version of such a physical feat, And yet he still managed to keep it up for a frankly unreasonable amount of time. (Seriously imagine just standing there for 3 minutes straight in silence while someone just holds a sword) which of course represents him maintaining this bluff for so many years at the hero association. Throughout the whole time he of course said nothing and simply held an intimidating pose, which is how he tends to get through most situations due to his naturally intimidating look despite his cowardly interior. And then of course at the end, he simply walked away to try and avoid having to explain himself just like how he tries everything he can to avoid actual confrontations.
Yup King's power is being King in chess. While being completely useless with slow movement, everyone must protect him with all cost. King being godlike at games just to emphasize that as well...he always make the bestest of the bests out out his pawn. Ofc life is not chess or video games, so those powers manifest as extreme luck + confuse aura (his King Engine). I truly believe if King had a chance of controlling Genos, he'd beat the shit out of both Metal Knight and Drive Knight at the same time xD
Honestly, it'd be funnier to have their roles reversed. Saitama is faced with an impossible fight, and king comes to save the day with a scary face given said foe cardiac arrest from fear.
This entire episode can be summarized by an old Mark Twain quote of "It's easier to fool people than convince them of the truth". When King offered the reason why they can't fight, instead of stating his full of it they went along with it (ie being fooled) because they didn't want to be considered stupid/ignorant for not understanding his explanation so they didn't even challenge it but went along with it.
King’s biggest superpower is bluffing; intentionally and unintentionally. He’s the epitome of “King used confusion, it was super effective”. Paired with his secondary trait of monsters that don’t surrender getting destroyed shortly after, he’s virtually unstoppable.
I wholeheartedly believe King does have real superpower, he can make everyone overestimate him and act to his favor unknowingly no matter how unlikely. Also while it'd be considered superpower or not, his gaming skill is otherworldly unreal.
An idea for a power up for King: a robot made by metal knight or someone with the skills, controlled using a game controller, king would be overpowered, especially if the robot is durable and has speed to match King’s moves

I am convinced that King is actually very powerful, much like Saitama. The only issue is that his power is concentrated on gaming. If there could be a way to bring that out to the real world, everything would be over. And finally, Saitama will get the battle he always wanted.

I feel like King has a hidden power of intimidation, not just due to him looking mean as hell. It's just that for him, it's a fear reaction while everybody else freaks out over it
King is very easily, unironically, one of the most broken, overpowered characters in the series. He has two absolutely ridiculous super powers. Damn near infinite luck and a grandmaster degree in bluff. And they compliment each other to an almost supernatural degree. Something tells me even Saitama would struggle against him. If anyone could permanently delay that punch, it's King.
King's plot armor is just insane . I think he's luck capability had gone too far , at least saitama might be able to train king later on . Hopefully , he'll be able to do what he said .

King is very easily, unironically, one of the most broken, overpowered characters in the series. He has two absolutely ridiculous super powers. Damn near infinite luck and a grandmaster degree in bluff. And they compliment each other to an almost supernatural degree. Something tells me even Saitama would struggle against him. If anyone could permanently delay that punch, it's King.
King is a Bard with 20 Charisma, proficiency in Bluff, and a weighted D20.
