He’s Siatama’s foil. One is strong, with no presence, the other is weak, with an overwhelming presence. On top of that his name implies that he is the “King”, like in chess, all pieces attempt to kill him, but all the surrounding pieces try to defend him. He is the only person in the universe that always has someone or something intervening for his benefit. This anomaly alone is his power. It’s just not blatant like the others.
I think it’s where king is the king in chess and saitama is the queen basically king is a bluff or intimidation tactic and the queen or saitama is the strength or the one who backs up the bluff
Plus, just like in chest, the king can't go into spots, where it will outright die the next turn. If there is any way to save the king, no matter the sacrifice, something will have to block the path. I really feel like that is truely his power. Even if he didn't do his whole act, he would still somehow be saved.
I like how King and Saitama's friendship reminds people you don't have to be friends with or only associate with people in your *'league'* (a Bullsh*t concept anyway) or "peers" in your field but rather hanging out with people who's company you actually enjoy regardless of ego inflating ranks!
there is something called fight or flight. but there is another reaction which is freezing. King gets so afraid he can't move a muscle. if he speaks or does anything while afraid, he does it extremely strained. his reputation and scary demeanor enhance his intimidation factor. basically him being paralyzed by fear gives him his "powers".
Saitama is kings telepathic representation of his power, he imagined him into reality after the real Saitama (with hair) died from his fight with the crab monster and gave king ptsd and remorse. King is the main character.
@@pissoffeachother I could see that... this one is pretty plausible, it would explain why Saitama always shows up when King is in trouble, but doesn't explain why Saitama functions without king being around, unless all those times we se solo Saitama its actually King seeing himself as a more powerful version but not realizing... like his anxiety and fear take over to protect him and he has no recollection other than that he was saved. It would also explain why King always gets all the credit, and nobody seems to notice Saitama
King has the most OP ability. He has literal indestructible plot armor. No matter what bad luck happens, good luck will demand the scales balance. Luck will force a balance at the singularity. King is the singularity of luck. I love his character tbh
Wouldn't be surprised if King is actually an esper who is able to transfer his own fear against those confronting him and the ability to alter probabilities without him being aware of what they are to benefit him. Like those of Marvel's Longshot.
That appears to be the leading theory. His power is the ability to manipulate probability (which is literal omnipotence if potent enough.) Or his power is being extremely lucky. However for him, it likely works in the manner that whenever he is at risk of being killed, a hero will come and save him
I read a fan theory somewhere that basically says that the monster that gave King his scar was an Esper and that it gave King the power to subconsciously manipulate the people around him without him actually being aware of his own ability
In original web manga by ONE, King went to train by going to dojos, there they said King's style martial arts are way more powerful than anything they can teach him, so they kept sending him to other dojos.
King is that low level paladin you guys let roll with you at end game. Even though he's not much of a fighter or a healer, his auras buff and inspire allies and weaken and demoralize enemies. He's just racking up kills based on assists and accidental killing blows. Support is still support and without him, stuff would still be more difficult💖💗 I love King and his empathy is a great counter for Saitama's apathy. King and Mumen Rider inspire and bring joy to our Caped Baldy's life. I teared up when Mumen Rider got saved and he wrote him a fan letter and bought him ramen, and when King recognized him and apologized, kneeled before him, and begged for forgiveness. Those 2 and Genos are straight 💯 with Saitama.
Saitama isn't apathetic overall. He's only apathetic about killing monsters, because it requires no effort. Of the two, I'd say he's actually the one that forms authentic emotional connections with people more easily. King definitely is very good for him, though.
@@darschpugs4690 it's because these are people that he has direct influence over and also influence him. He inserted himself in their life at their time of need. From what was shown he was pretty lonely and lost in monotony. Then he started busting baddies. Then. That got old when there was no struggle. His friends made him feel more human, and allow him to actually obtain the ability to have fun again. When he's in panels with his friends he's usually smiling but when it's just him, not so much
I think that Kings power is luck. And he subconciously alters reality to achieve that luck. I would also say that when he got his scar he needed to be saved from dying so his subcouncious created Saitama even before that moment has happened so he could be there and save him.
To King's credit; not even Saitama has killed an enemy with fear alone. Villains and monsters underestimate Saitama; potentially the strongest man in the universe, which gets them killed in the end, and all but the most confident and/or daring enemies overestimate King to the point of defeating themselves.
I my opinion king's luck is more on the good one because sure he attracts monsters left and right but he always got helped as well, he attracts problem but somehow and someway always solved it, either by staring at them with king's engine or saitama's help
Agree. I don’t see a pendulum of good and bad luck. The getting the scars on his eye sucked, but having the scars solidified his legend. Spilling his lie to saitama sucked, but that honest reunion completed the yin/yang nature of their power sets. Think of all the times King was asked to help, but turned it down. That fuels his legend. If instead all of that went to saitama, it would fuel his boredom and annoyance.
Forgot to mention that King also gives other Hero's a morale boost He basically intimdates enemies to cripple them. While also boosting allies to make them work together and become stronger
@@meliasnahtony2951 But if , the fighter does adapt really fast to the situation that is still a con. That would meant king would need to utilize his moves more than any hero .
@@mr.pickles9791 I meant that he would have to go full ultraman and obliterate the monster before it learned how to counter his moveset. Speaking of which, he could have a sort of special controller made with a dial or switch that could change the fighting style and moveset of the robot with a simple flick.
It's part of it, but even when Saitama is nowhere to be found, things still work out for King somehow. 'Summon Saitama' is just his ultimate trump card.
Idk if it’s obvious or not but king kind of sounds like a metaphor for real life kings where people support/bow down to them without them really having any true powers other than reputation
King's super power is being a great leader, by way of irony. without him a lot of people would have died in that last arc. king's full arc will revolve around that you don't have to be strong to be an s class hero and it will tie in with moonmanrider.
Kings power is simply Luck. In this anime, it is just disguised to us as being coincidence. It seems that people get powers based on a major aspect of their character traits. As it seems King has always been an unlucky person, he was given the ability of Luck. It has not been confirmed, but it seems very obvious to me at least.
If King was given the ability to transport his enemies into his video games, then he would really be as powerful as people think he is. I doubt even Saitama could beat him then
Well, if the “strongest guy on earth” needs some cyborg like enhancements, wouldn’t that break Kings image of being the strongest(physically) man on earth?
The truth is no one wants to help King because no one thinks they can help the strongest man in the world. His reputation precedes him so much that even coming clean about it being a farce just gets taken as him being humble.
I don’t know how well it would work on other anime characters with augmented luck and I would count goku among one of those characters from watching/reading everything DB I would argue that’s goku’s main power I think if goku and king faced off it would end in king teaching goku how to play video games
King’s unsaid power is in his name - a king rallies his men and gets his strongest to fight on the front line A king is weak without his court, knights, and pawns - thus relies on their strengths throughout the battle He is the weakest, yet is able to rally heroes to fight in his stead on the constant basis that it became his super power. Name a king that fought on the frontlines (nvm Richard the III) in most wars. Majority plotted strategy and were a standard for men to rally
One thing about king is if he wasn't so cowardly, he could keep his facade up easier. In his first appearance, that lizard guy was beyond scared of him. King was MUCH taller and by the looks of it, stronger even for a normal guy. He could have grabbed the lizard man by the throat and thrown him to the ground for added intimidation
If he would’ve attempted to grab Lizard Guy by the throat, his entire act would fall apart instantly. Lol. He doesn’t have superhuman strength, or anything beyond the average man of his stature. Lizard Guy would’ve came to the realization that King is just a poser, and done to him what Fish King did to Mumen Rider- literally beat the bicycle breaks off him.
It would be damn nice if King actually got some really op powers and could do what people expect of him on his own, actually feeling good about his actions.
I know you just want King to feel better about himself, but technically, King is already the most op other than Saitama. He basically has meta luck and wouldn't even need extra powers to become "stronger" This is my personal headcannon, but I think it's also essential for King to experience fear in order to use his full powers potential since his increased heartbeat is the reason why the King Engine works in the first place. Once he grows too confident he'll lose his intimidation factor
Honestly, I think he'd lose a lot of his charm. We already have one ridiculously OP character, King works way better as a foil, ie someone who despite being weak always have things work out for him.
King might not be the ultimate hero, but he’s definitely the ultimate gamer. He would whoop your ass in a video game and fact, I’m surprised they didn’t give them a video game ability. Like, for example, a hero invents a machine that can materialize a character similar to King , with all the fighting abilities of every game character. And king just messes with the controller in game and destroys armies of monsters just from fighting skills in the game.
Hook drive knight/genos up, hell even some mid ass robot/cyborg hero like pre-boost jet nice guy up to a controller with king, shit, after that he probably dont even need saitama no more. Edit - if it was metal knight's army, then even god will be shivering his timbers
saitama accurecy is also seems to be imeasurable as always since when he fought boros he jumped excatly where he was fighting boros while he didn't even seem to try aim there
King and saitama are just big moods, they both have what the other wants and yet both are forced to live in the worlds that eachother desires. And yet live the most relatable types of normal lives, loving videogames, dealing with annoying mosquitoes and stuff, and then just barely saving money for the bare minimum of what they desire in life and i love it
King isnt a regular guy though. In the OPM universe, what you do repeatedly becomes your superpower (obsessed with cars? become a car monster. eat lots of crab? crablante) King's power is his bluff. he's actually killed people with it!
Credit to the animators at 13:50. They know what they were doing. The angle, the composition, the lighting. It all blends together to create a beautiful canvas on which to tell their story.
Theory: In the one punch universe limits are set on EVERYTHING even luck and with him almost dieing almost daily due to monsters he broke his luck limiter
He would be beast if they told him it was a video game but he could only be a hero in game and the mech suit can't harm anything not evil it would be a cool idea or if he starts controlling metal knight suits or sum but his luck power alone is pretty op
Already calling it that at the very end of the manga and King finally decides to become a real hero like Saitama he does 100 pushups, 100 sit-ups, runs 10km, and most importantly never every uses the AC every single day even on really really hot days.
Scholars tried to describe "the dolzenabring effect" as follows: 1) The human brain emits small energy fields, but the emission is random and has little to no effect on the outside. 2) King's has the ability to focus his brain energy on specific areas (probably due to his pro-gamer history), so he can emit those waves in a specific way, (he does it uncounsciously) 3) King's myocardium pulse in such a way that it amplifies his gamer brain waves, making them interact with molecules around him, long story short, he convert N,CO2,O2 and H2O to "PlotArmonium" (PlAr) 4) It is still uncertain how those newly converted molecules react, but is believed that they can release energy in the 4th dimension altering chaos to his benefit
I love this guy. He’s made only a hero because he’s in the right place after Saitama ends a battle and he gets the credit, plus is stare no matter how he really feels along with this reputation scares most villains. Luck might be his power.
I'd love to see King in one of the new battle suits like Mumen Rider in the new ark... Just so he can have his well earned 15 minutes of fame, after all that crap he's been through I can see him being able to use the suits better than anyone else because of his gaming background. 😁
king is like Bink from the Xanth his superpower is that he can not be killed by monster nor superhero. he'd probbly have more to fear from a normal mugger with a gun
I would have loved if King had been in that king arc starting situation like: "Ow You only want data" and wouldnt have fought at all because the monster only wanted data. Maybe had the secret from Saitama a bit longer. Much potential for drama and such for longer.
From what ive seen. King does have a power. It is his flawless execution of a pacifist run for his anime. Sure he may not have any real fighting ability. But as long as his stats say 0 kills/knockouts he's on track.
Everyone saying Kings ability is luck, while they very clearly show, that it’s „character control“. He is like the writer. Reality becomes a video game, where he unleashes a 99 power combo at will with the sweetest character after being kicked in the corner. He is just as powerful outside the game, as inside, he just doesn’t know. His heart is just smashing the buttons of reality, instead of his fingers.

Well if Saitama wanted to kill king, he would just destroy the entire universe to get it done...
In the foil thing, recall that Saitama is pretty much an idiot, and King is very intelligent and insightful.
I like how King and Saitama's friendship reminds people you don't have to be friends with or only associate with people in your *'league'* (a Bullsh*t concept anyway) or "peers" in your field but rather hanging out with people who's company you actually enjoy regardless of ego inflating ranks!
say what you want about King he is not a coward. he experiences fear like every normal person but his first instincts isn't to run all the time
Fr fr
Preach my man, preach.
there is something called fight or flight. but there is another reaction which is freezing. King gets so afraid he can't move a muscle. if he speaks or does anything while afraid, he does it extremely strained. his reputation and scary demeanor enhance his intimidation factor. basically him being paralyzed by fear gives him his "powers".
Legend has it, if saitama ever tries to fight king, saitama from the future will come to the past and kill saitama
Saitama is kings telepathic representation of his power, he imagined him into reality after the real Saitama (with hair) died from his fight with the crab monster and gave king ptsd and remorse. King is the main character.
@@pissoffeachother really?
@@Stpovrreacting lmfao idk man I made that up but maybe?
@@pissoffeachother That was dope for a freestyle lol
Honestly that’s a good theory
That appears to be the leading theory. His power is the ability to manipulate probability (which is literal omnipotence if potent enough.) Or his power is being extremely lucky. However for him, it likely works in the manner that whenever he is at risk of being killed, a hero will come and save him
@@elviraweekes3906yea
I read a fan theory somewhere that basically says that the monster that gave King his scar was an Esper and that it gave King the power to subconsciously manipulate the people around him without him actually being aware of his own ability
In original web manga by ONE, King went to train by going to dojos, there they said King's style martial arts are way more powerful than anything they can teach him, so they kept sending him to other dojos.
King actually just ate the usopp-usopp no mi, which gives him the abilities of god usopp to be incredibly brave whilst being incredibly weak
You mean the mythical zoan Hito-Hito no mi (Model: Ussop) lmfao
Lol
Those 2 and Genos are straight 💯 with Saitama.
actually that'd be a hillarious D&D build, just auras and intimidation so intense everyone just scatters or is shocked long enough to die
Saitama isn't apathetic overall. He's only apathetic about killing monsters, because it requires no effort. Of the two, I'd say he's actually the one that forms authentic emotional connections with people more easily. King definitely is very good for him, though.
@@himurabattousai8408 dont forget king is the only one who ever beat saitama in gaming 😂
They really make the series don't they? something so special about King, Mumen Rider, and Genos.
If Saitama is as he is now because of King, now that'd be a plot twist that I'd be interested in.
King's true power IS Saitama.
Now that's a meta power!
Wow, I can totally stand behind this theory!
I'm guessing that King is like the king on a chess board and Saitama is the queen.
@@The_child-catcher “definitive chess king”
To King's credit; not even Saitama has killed an enemy with fear alone.
Villains and monsters underestimate Saitama; potentially the strongest man in the universe, which gets them killed in the end, and all but the most confident and/or daring enemies overestimate King to the point of defeating themselves.
Like the JoJo poker game 😅
0:10 Fun fact- In this manga it was said that the crow visited king because of saitamas *_Shiny_* Head

In order to make King the true greatest hero, all he needs is for somebody to build him a robot that can be controlled by a gamepad remotely
Mega XLR?!
In games , Theres always preset moves. If one can get the movement of presets then king would be F'ed up
@@mr.pickles9791 Yes, you have a point there, but this only means that King would have a time limit to how long he could fight an opponent.
I've always assumed that kings ability is literally always having saitama near him even if they don't know it.
I personally want King to be a "Director of Operations" for the heroes since he's got that luck level and it fits him very well too
saitama's biggest weakness is not getting to the bargain deal at the store
Wait... What day is today? 😨

King's super power is being a great leader, by way of irony.
without him a lot of people would have died in that last arc.
king's full arc will revolve around that you don't have to be strong to be an s class hero and it will tie in with moonmanrider.
I have a feeling that at some point in the story, Saitama will say "I can't beat King."
But before explaining "why" everyone will misunderstand.
genos jaw will drop to the planet core

Just like the rest of the times
Hot pot mess and monster gore are not the same
Kings power is simply Luck. In this anime, it is just disguised to us as being coincidence. It seems that people get powers based on a major aspect of their character traits. As it seems King has always been an unlucky person, he was given the ability of Luck. It has not been confirmed, but it seems very obvious to me at least.
With the condition that he remains unaware of how it works
Saitama never had a chance playing nintendo with him🤣🤣
its anime protag... well... actually way better then protag luck, cause he dosnt get hurt.
What are the odds that Saitama is King’s stand.

Something that I’ve always wondered is couldn’t the guy who made Genos a cyborg do the same to king and actually make him stronger?
No, his luck prevents him from getting stronger or gaining any skill.
@@_bbunsthe6th_279 damn at least he still has his stand, Caped Baldy.
I love King so much he's so precious. True bravery isn't the lack of fear but the strength to stand in the face of it!
saitama power: being strong
king's power: "here, i'll roll a check for intimidation."
Kings superpower is literally just plot armor lol. He should be this channel mascot 😆
So basically King can beat (or survive) literally anyone including Goku and Zeno because his luck would prevent his death
I don’t know how well it would work on other anime characters with augmented luck and I would count goku among one of those characters from watching/reading everything DB I would argue that’s goku’s main power I think if goku and king faced off it would end in king teaching goku how to play video games

Insufferable
King is a true hero.
His intimidation and King engine save lives when the monsters don't fight.
king literally emits "oh my god please almighty give me plot armor" aura
King’s unsaid power is in his name - a king rallies his men and gets his strongest to fight on the front line
A king is weak without his court, knights, and pawns - thus relies on their strengths throughout the battle
He is the weakest, yet is able to rally heroes to fight in his stead on the constant basis that it became his super power.
Name a king that fought on the frontlines (nvm Richard the III) in most wars. Majority plotted strategy and were a standard for men to rally
Yes this is the theory/explaination i need
One thing about king is if he wasn't so cowardly, he could keep his facade up easier. In his first appearance, that lizard guy was beyond scared of him. King was MUCH taller and by the looks of it, stronger even for a normal guy. He could have grabbed the lizard man by the throat and thrown him to the ground for added intimidation
King is weaksauce in the muscle department, bro cant even unsheathe a katana
King don’t even need to move a finger to defeat the monsters coming at his way. Just the “King engine” alone is enough to make any monster tremble.
@@kerbodynamicx472 Just king engine alone killed a monster by giving him a heart attack
If he would’ve attempted to grab Lizard Guy by the throat, his entire act would fall apart instantly. Lol. He doesn’t have superhuman strength, or anything beyond the average man of his stature.
Lizard Guy would’ve came to the realization that King is just a poser, and done to him what Fish King did to Mumen Rider- literally beat the bicycle breaks off him.
lizard guy would instantly know how weak king is after that throw... if he can even throw him
It would be damn nice if King actually got some really op powers and could do what people expect of him on his own, actually feeling good about his actions.
But then he’d be All Might
That would be so boring tho
King used his imaginary cannon blast and destroyed like 5 dragon class monsters in an instant (through garou)
@@xeibei4804 You'd THINK that but this is one punch man, the anime where the protagonist at the end is at the beginning.
I know you just want King to feel better about himself, but technically, King is already the most op other than Saitama. He basically has meta luck and wouldn't even need extra powers to become "stronger"
This is my personal headcannon, but I think it's also essential for King to experience fear in order to use his full powers potential since his increased heartbeat is the reason why the King Engine works in the first place. Once he grows too confident he'll lose his intimidation factor
I wish king will eventually get powers that make him really strong cause that would honestly be amazing

Imagine King controlling armed robots with a controller.
I was just thinking that! There is 100% gonna be a team up between king and metal knight, it seems like perfect synergy
If that robot was as strong as Saitama, it might be a 50/50

Honestly, if King had a game-pad remote based robot, his gaming skills alone would place him in Class S
Scholars tried to describe "the dolzenabring effect" as follows:
1) The human brain emits small energy fields, but the emission is random and has little to no effect on the outside.
2) King's has the ability to focus his brain energy on specific areas (probably due to his pro-gamer history), so he can emit those waves in a specific way, (he does it uncounsciously)
3) King's myocardium pulse in such a way that it amplifies his gamer brain waves, making them interact with molecules around him, long story short, he convert N,CO2,O2 and H2O to "PlotArmonium" (PlAr)
4) It is still uncertain how those newly converted molecules react, but is believed that they can release energy in the 4th dimension altering chaos to his benefit
This man got speech, barter, and luck 100
I love this guy. He’s made only a hero because he’s in the right place after Saitama ends a battle and he gets the credit, plus is stare no matter how he really feels along with this reputation scares most villains. Luck might be his power.
I'd love to see King in one of the new battle suits like Mumen Rider in the new ark... Just so he can have his well earned 15 minutes of fame, after all that crap he's been through I can see him being able to use the suits better than anyone else because of his gaming background. 😁

By himself he is quite weak, but the other pieces are his strength.
If King's decides to listen to Saitama and goes beyond, breaking his limiter, we're fucked

I want King to become an actual superpowerful person just based on his close contact with a bunch of dead monsters or something.
