I'm 5'9" so a flat top isn't that bad. But I really wish paccar would give an option to put the fold out couch into a 389. Maybe Peterbilt Steve can say something to the big shots next trip LOL.
Flattops are the best looking for sure! I love this color combo too!!! Can you show more of the interior of the sleeper sometime? I'd think this color combo with a legendary red would look really awesome!
I had a 2016 pride and class, loved that truck, had it tuned, deleted and even took off the DEF and put in another full size fuel tank. I loved that truck but when they mandated the Elogs I had to sell her😭. Now I'm back in my 87 379. Shes a good looking girl but I liked the newness of the 389.
Hell Ya !!! Great Intro Steve and another Gorgeous Peterbilt and I will agree the round headlights would have finished the look on this one. I was gonna bash the Def tank not being painted again and I stopped to think about it, you are not painting the Def for fear that the driver will put Diesel in it, so with it not being painted hopefully he'll remember the Difference
Its not the fuel deal, its all about balancing time and money when putting them together. Painting the DEF tank is an expensive chore. Glad to do it though...
Hey Steve, beautiful truck. I wanna know, do you have a video at night with them type of lights lite up. I’d love to see it, if you ever get the chance.
Killer as always, might look cool with the United Pacific headlights taken apart and color matched with the red on the fenders. Just a thought. Sweet Pete either way.
speterbilt I definitely agree with you on all the above! A couple friends of mine just had 2 389's built like that! With matching boxes like the passenger side on the driver's side too! Def. Tanks look like crap! And the boxes not matching on both sides really ruins a what would be a super nice ride!!
Glenn Oliphint yes is does. There is a guy in St Louis that does what you said. I can't remember which Peterbilt dealership it is. That dealer does full custom work on new trucks. I don't see how moving the def tank and batteries is going to void any warranties. It's just a tank. When hiding the tank under the left box I would turn the fill nozzle to the back instead of the front side like the guy in St. Louis does. This would keep the nozzle a little more protected from road debris.
Steve I love ya and the product you put out, I do, I really do. You are the best at what you do. However, I have to ask this. When you have the paint gun out and full of paint, why not paint the end of the rear axle tubes? I know they are sent that way from the factory, but why not finish the job when you are painting other parts with the same color; or put full chrome top hats on them? Not a sermon just a thought.
With the aluminum hubs it would be a ton of prep (not that we are afraid to work) and the paint does not like that material for some reason so we just pass on that process. Love the suggestions....
Hey Steve, you channel is super great and rocks, sometimes it would be interesting if you would mention the origin of where trucks come out of. If they are all built in Denton or some where else, including how long the build turn around is from when you send in your spec. sheet are you the sole builder @ Rush Oklahoma ? Also include delivery window for those that can wait for custom orders. You covered the rest really well, I know to some subscribers this might seem stupid but I remember when Pete was in Fremont, Calif. just saying.
I’d love to get one of your Pete’s! Engine power, torque, rear end are just what I prefer! If you would like to adopt me, and then give me one, id be forever great full!
About a month out on sending you a video of our new 389 Steve, being in Oregon and the extras that go into our trucks it wouldn't work out buying from you unfourtantly
If I was doing a fifth wheel truck it wouldn't be any trouble going through you it's the truck equipment and trailer package that's also done after the delivery the manufacturer is in Oregon also once it's completed and you see it together it'll make sense nothing personal lol
Hey brother.. plann is getting my own DUMP TRUCK COM THE BEGINNING OF NEXT YEAR AS IM WORKING ON MY GOAL OF HAVING 2 YEARS UNDER MY BELT BEFORE I START MYSELF UP WITH A LEASE TO OWN ON A BRAND NEW TRUCK. ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE ON WHO TO GO WITH AS THEY ARE VERY HONEST AND I MEAN 110% SOLID HONEST HERE ON IF I WAS TO PUT DOWN $10K ON EITHER A SUPER SINGLE 16 OR 18 WHEELER. I work for N.O.P.A TRUCKING COMPANY HERE IN PHOENIX ARIZONA & Drive a 2015 Kenworth T800 9SPD Super 16-wheeler everyday. What would your recommendations on either going with a Performance/high torque engine to a efficiency PACKAGE. Anything you can help me with would be awesome. 20k front axle to 4x4 front differential to rear 4-way differential as well. Thanks for an awesome channel brother.
Just gorgeous. I pull a 2 axle, 53' RGN, so I am concerned that a 300" wheelbase will make manuvering difficult in NYC and other northeast cities I frequent. I wonder if you have something of this caliber in a shorter wheelbase, say 280"?
Oops! Forgot to paint the rails again, after sliding the fifth wheel, I see. Lol. Super sharp truck. Although, any seasoned trucker knows that drum brakes are more efficient. Yes, the disc brake setup offers a quicker exchange, but you'll be doing it more often. Don't forget to tell your customers that they need to have that ash cleaned out of that DPF, after 250,000 miles.
Drum brakes are not more efficient. Would like to hear your theory on why they are. Cummins says expect 5-600k between DPF cleanings so your 250k interval is wrong also.
+Peterbilt Steve Heya, Peterbilt Steve. When I went through diesel mechanic school, I was informed by the instructor that drum brakes are more efficient because they have a bigger contact pattern, (or "footprint" if you prefer). And maybe the X15 has upped the mileage for DPF cleanings, as they have gotten rid of the doser, right after the turbo. My bad in that one. But actually, Cummins should factor in trucks being used in dry bulk transportation & loading & unloading, ( as these trucks tend to spend a significant amount of time in P.T.O., in high idle. approximately 1200 rpms')
No other way to say it other than your instructor is just wrong. Cummins does factor that in and has different intervals for those applications. You threw out 250k like it was a universal cleaning interval and I just wanted those that read this to know that is not true. Thanks for watching!
+Peterbilt Steve Actually, it was our Cummins representative that recommended the 250k mile cleaning interval. But, that was on the ISX. And I actually believe the drums (especially the mountain shoe variety) are going to provide more contact than disc. I have subbed to you & will keep watching your vids, as you have some super sharp trucks!!
I told my wife I want one of your flat tops just for my personal daily driver LMAO... Love your trucks man
Look great at the grocery store....
I would love to do that too! Park it in my driveway and let my neighbors drool!! That is one sweet ride!
Yes, but with a matching custom camper/toy hauler large enough for a pickup and fishing boat! Maybe based on a B-Train style setup?
If I was rich is would have one or a couple lol
Nothing like a flattop! Best looking meanest looking rigs on the road I'll take the look over comfort anyday haha
You got it
Peterbilt Steve what brand , model cab lights are these? I really like them !
I'm 5'9" so a flat top isn't that bad. But I really wish paccar would give an option to put the fold out couch into a 389. Maybe Peterbilt Steve can say something to the big shots next trip LOL.
The red & white is awesome. Great looking truck!
thanks buddy

I watch your videos just for motivation! I’ll have a 389 one day god willing...
lets get it on
Move the batteries between the frame and hide the def tank under the ledt door toolbox. Then same size fuel tanks
speterbilt I definitely agree with you on all the above! A couple friends of mine just had 2 389's built like that! With matching boxes like the passenger side on the driver's side too! Def. The two tone paint job is classic.

I will see if I can make that happen
About a month out on sending you a video of our new 389 Steve, being in Oregon and the extras that go into our trucks it wouldn't work out buying from you unfourtantly
Thats too bad, why wouldn't it work out? You really have my curiosity with this one....
If I was doing a fifth wheel truck it wouldn't be any trouble going through you it's the truck equipment and trailer package that's also done after the delivery the manufacturer is in Oregon also once it's completed and you see it together it'll make sense nothing personal lol
Beautiful truck thanks Steve

doubt that will be on your lot long.. Beautiful truck
I doubt it too
Is there was a Kenworth Steve. 😤
Why do they paint the tanks , my preference is leave them shiny
Some do some dont
I hate that they don't paint the whole 5th wheel slide. Just sticks out like a sore thumb.
we can touch it up
Chaka Gillis ANDYAYCOCK
What’s the tagged weight and what fluids do they count going towards that weight ie oil coolant ex.

How are those Disc brakes?
Steve, I heard a guy say 300" can't go into Canada. What is the maximum WB allowed?
Sam O I think it 282 inch
Tony Reeves Thank you Tony. I'm thinking 280" might be Goldilocks.
282" but still 75' total length on tractor-trailer combo.
Very nice truck!
What's a ball park number to get a truck like this?
How much does it weigh?
18300ish
Just gorgeous. I pull a 2 axle, 53' RGN, so I am concerned that a 300" wheelbase will make manuvering difficult in NYC and other northeast cities I frequent. I wonder if you have something of this caliber in a shorter wheelbase, say 280"?

Then quit wasting your time watching, I can only give pricing via phone or text
It's not even a glider though
1 leaf spring up front is scary
Not really, no reason to be scared
