I had a really tight hose to my boat sea strainer for the Gen that was plugged with sea weed. I couldn’t get it off until I tried this tip. Thanks a lot ! I had a silicone can of lube.
If you want to reuse then I would not use WD40, it is petroleum based and will make the hoses swell and become weaker. Maybe a silicone or something that isnt harmful to rubber. If you are not reusing then just cut it off.

This is true.....rubber hoses and solvent based lubricants do not mix well.
In my case the hoses are silicone and run from intercooler to the throttle body (charge pipe hoses), in which case wd-40 won't damage the hose and I think would actually be preferable because any excess can burn off
I taught myself this as a kid removing handlebar grips. You only need water. No messy lube.

Small amount of soap in the water is even better. Thanks for reminding me of those days. I forgot that trick on the last grip. and hoses too.
I tried doing all these tricks. Simplest way for me is to cut it and cut it again around the fitting making sure to just cut the hose and not damage the fittings especially plastic. Then it just unwraps.
I thought of doing exactly this, unfortunately there's a lot of crap around the pipe so it's in an awkward place haha

@@PistonShack haha i didnt end up changing it as I had to remove the rad side connection too, I just changed the coolant for now but I bought a screw clamp instead of spring band clamp and a new pipe just incase, thanks for the video as people just getting into cars can learn the ways, Cheers !
i just completed changing the coolant hoses in my car. Due to heat the rubber gets stuck to the hose and becomes hard. using the screw driver trick + wiggling is key. Dont try to pull unless you have space.
I use a little bit of brake clean it slips right off and does not leave oil residue later on the hose

Use Silicone spray, won’t damage rubber and is much more slippery

EPDM rubber is definitly not resistant to WD40 and will eventualy swell or crack. I would never do that!
That's right. Do not use petroleum based oils on rubber components if you are not going to replace them oi clean them after. I did put new hoses anyway. Thanks for your feedback.
It's like when you clean a laptop screen. Start with the least strong cleaner. Water, soap, alcohol, Then you can move up from there to the stuff which can damage screens potentially. Any penetrating lubricant that is petroleum based I think will dissolve or act as a solvent for rubber and make it fail later if re-using. Soapy water might be a good reminder thanks to you posting this and reminding a couple of us of that. Plus.. don't use the small picks. Use the longer and larger ones. Or maybe round down the sharp edges on a large screwdriver and use that.

Instructions unclear. Pulled engine out attached coolant pipe to tractor and pulled firewall off with coolant pipe still on
Wd40 on rubber and you can't use it again

C'mon people start your car up and run it for 5 or 10 minutes, and watch how easy that hose would pull off.

That's proper way to do it if you have new one! I would do the same as well.
Best solution if it’s a single hose. Anything else however is a pain especially that T at other hoses with compression fittings
