    No spark with the TCI, aka "CDI," with black and blue wire. Why?

    • @BuildBreakFix
      @BuildBreakFix  10 місяців тому +1

      It was used to run an incandescent light. Ones like you see with tire generators.

      Ha sorry wrong comment 😂. Blue wire is low 6v voltage magneto and the red is supposed to be for high voltage 12v magnetos.

    Opening Chinese parts is like opening a box of chocolates. (Forrest Gump voice: "You never know what you're going to get.") 🤣

    Very interesting! From the article I read, TCI was kind of a solid-state take on the old point/condenser type ignition. Ironically, they're also on the slower side and don't do very well at higher RPM.

      Yes

      Yeah its China reselling old technology with new purpose in same containers as normal cdis come. What they did was just offset the timing. Used w/e they had to make it cheap lol. On the other hand bicycle kits are well below rpm cap for tci! Cold weather may effect it though more

    I just find out that you can use the 3rd wire as a pulse but i dont find a cdi to use it for😢

    So will that one not work is what I just received the same exact one and I was wondering why the wires were different and there's only a red and black instead of the three wires

    • @BuildBreakFix
      @BuildBreakFix  Рік тому

      Red and black is bigger coil. blue/white/ black smaller. Blue&white both are the same on 3 wire makes it easier to plug a light in i guess

    Hey I've been trying to figure out is it possible to hook up a regulate 4 wire or whatever like yamaha CDI and external coil to the stock pickup and magnet setup.. If so what wire go where.. What is pulse control and what is the exciter wire??

    • @BuildBreakFix
      @BuildBreakFix  2 роки тому

      magneto will power a AC one if you use the 12v version. Problem you will have is making the coil pack fire at the correct time! you will need some kind of magnetic triggering system to pull it off without effect the magnetos fields!

    Why on my saw build when it’s cold or hot, it’s hard to start and will not stay on? Is it timing? I have some pitting on the cylinder and piston. I’m using a NGK R BR6HS plug. My first build did not do this. Could it be fried rings?

    • @BuildBreakFix
      @BuildBreakFix  2 роки тому +1

      Oh way to hot of a plug! B10HS is plug should be in any of the saw builds actually! Ms380,460,660,880 Depends on what kind of saw build you have! Ms460 is a 36mm stroke build. Ms460 40mm stroke build. Each has few screw ball things to them. Most screwed up thing people do to each! Is widen the intakes. It completely screws up them running well. 99.9% time when they don't run like you are describing it's main reason why lol! OR pipe they used is not matched! Also if it's a Ms660 most use wrong rod and port cross talk can cause that as well! Ms460 timing ua-cam.com/video/b1b0wk1fH3w/v-deo.html Ms660 Timing ua-cam.com/video/Digi619TixI/v-deo.html

      It really surprised me they took old tech, changed timing sold it as high performance lol cdi at that! I'm sure the tci well within rpm ranges to work fine on most kits. But still!

    • @BuildBreakFix
      @BuildBreakFix  2 роки тому

      No "CDH Power High Performance CDI" is the title it was sold under!

  • @WredFawks

    My question would be then is there a difference in the cheap China doll ignition boxes beyond the wire color and boot. Now if the upgrade ones actually have different transistors in them, or if there's difference in wire conductivity like in their ohm ratings. Idk, I kinda want to find out now.
    What did you use to dissolve the sealant on the top?

    • @BuildBreakFix
      @BuildBreakFix  2 роки тому +1

      I didn't dissolve the epoxy! I did the abs shell with acetone! Inside is filled with sand and stone actually lol not joking... break one open! They pact them with sand! Crazy shit!
      Well the "upgrade cdi" is in fact not a cdi. Older tech that has rpm limits! Cdi does not have a rpm limit. Only reason there called upgrade is the offset the timing electronically by 3 degrees. It's a china scam pretty much rebrand old garbage as item it's not. No upgrade...infact it's a downgrade lol

      @@BuildBreakFix well I know a TCI isn't going to perform near as well as an actual CDI, but one of these days when I get some extra cash I think I'm going to take my multimeter and an ameter to some of these and try and find just what these cheap ignition systems put out.

    • @BuildBreakFix
      @BuildBreakFix  2 роки тому +1

      Nothing you can test though with a multi meter on them! Both types go into a chipset. Everything happens after that internally. 6to9 volt ac current in on blue/black wire units ang 9to12v on red/black wire units. Does not matter if it's a cdi or tci cause goes by what the internals require to run. Output you could see changes but you would need an oscilloscope to see that not a multimeter. Voltage and amps are always 30to40 kv and
      .5to.8 milla amps! Wave form is what would show how they cycle differently. Lol you know.. I do have one still I think from college days. If I find it in office closet where things go to never be seen again I'll do it one day shortly!
