  • Hi! A few people have asked me to give instructions on how I built my urban garden, Window Farm, Bottle Garden so I thought I would do a how to video,
When I built mine there were some videos online but most of them skipped the detail required and none of the showed to connect the air pump, if you want to skip to that part is starts at 18:28
I do my garden hydroponically these days using a 3 part flora series nutrient mix. But I believe it will work with soil plants given the precautions I mentioned in the video.
I have successfully grown Broccoli, many types of lettuce, pepper, herbs, tomatoes, strawberries and spinach in my urban garden. Let me know what you put in yours?
For those who know the history, its loosely based on the windowfarm.ord version 3.0 with some tweaks. I hope you find this useful, please let me know if you have any questions in the comments and I’ll go my best to explain further.
    Cheers
    Pete

Very good breakdown. Especially on the connection of the air lift pump:) I was looking for an explanation of connecting an air lift pump, and you did a good job on that. Do you ph balance your water? What about nutrients?

Hi Jan, thanks for the feedback. I use GHE three part flora solution for nutrients. The hard water Flora Micro which is suitable for the water in my area has pH buffers in it so I don't add pH balance. I spend more time on making sure I get the nutrient levels right by measuring EC levels and not over feeding them when the plants are young.
      Good luck.

Hi! Very good video. Would like to know, is it possible to let it always one for an hydroponic setup? If not, which model of timer do you use?

Great video detailing steps - Thank you! Few questions: why do I keep seeing foil wrapped around bottles - no one ever seems to mention that..? Also can you expand upon what you said about black tubing vs clear? Why the black is good if I go the hydroponic route? Last, what water mixture do you use and do we have to worry about moldy muck filling the lines or is there something folks add to the water mixture to prevent that? Thank you
