Hope both of you will give Leadvile another go. And if you do, may I suggest a podcast (it's mine) that except for food delivery, has covered every topic/issue you mentioned. We have done 7seasons/188 episodes devoted to the Leadville Trail 100. The podcast has been dedicated to the citizen racer; people trying to finish and racers trying to improve their time. By the way, loved your discussion on altitude simulation. Effects of altitude is an area that Leadville entrants lose a lot of sleep over and we are always looking for new ways to addrss that concern.
I found your podcast a little late in the prep game but LOVED it! So we probably should have had 11 Tips...with the first being listening to your podcast start to finish. LOL.
Great podcast, thanks for sharing. If you’re running tubeless tires, I would recommend getting inserts that helps avoid flats when running such a long race with lower tire pressure. Definitely gives peace of mind and is relatively inexpensive insurance when it comes to time.
Our FTP’s were very similar - his bike was about 5-7 lbs lighter. Ryan and I were about the same as well as we trained closely together for the big workouts and he finished 30 min after my brother with a similar bike. I’d say those two were on par with each other. Ryan had a lot of heat adaptation training and performed much better on EWOT than I (John) did. Maybe my brother can chime in here to tell how he felt as he acclimated. I recall him saying days 1-3 were awful but by day 4/5 he noticed a big improvement.
@@PerformancePyramid-pw9up thanks John. That is great to know.I am thankfully here a week before so hopefully I get a little better than I feel at the moment!
You're not lying! I think from a budget standpoint, I'm going to snag a carbon wheelset in 2025...and hopefully a new bike in early 2026 for another run at Leadville!

I heard Keegan say he ran 21 front and 22 psi rear last year.
He also has inserts to avoid flatting 👍
@@TechAssuranceATL He said he didn't run inserts. It's in the TrainerRoad interview from last year.
Could have sworn he ran inserts…maybe that was Jonathan on TR that said he ran them, or Nate 🤷♂️.
Nice guys, it would be interesting to know your brothers fitness level compared to you too to see how much advantage he had with being acclimatized.

I’m pretty sure days 4-5-6 things really settle in!
John, gotta get that bike sub 30lbs….
