Early viewers remember when the walk from the parking to the door was narrow and lined with rose bushes that would snag y’all as you walked by and even ripped your plastic grocery bags. What an incredible transformation!!

The thing is, we LOVE to see how things go, even though they're not completely done, because it reminds us, that everything is in flux. Even your thoughts about going with this or that stone/plant or whatever. It is so inspiring to see the whole flow of a build 🙏❤️💐 I can't wait to see your new seating area once the furniture arrives 😁🙏❤️

I agree and it doesn’t have to be when the workers are their working. (as I’m sure some don’t want to be on camera). Even just still pictures of the progress, would be cool.

Thanks so much for sharing the update on the brick project even though you may have wanted to wait for the final "ta-da!" Although before-and-afters are really fun to see - it's actually more helpful to see real-world progress and mid-project decisions. Thanks for letting us in behind the curtain 😊

You and your amazing team of builders did a fantastic job.
I love the formality, clean lines and structure your new walkways create. It is so soothing to the eye and soul.
Should you not be able to patch the concrete by the kitchen door, you could temporarily fill the patches with a thick layer of pea gravel or other stone. Keeps the mud out and is easy to scoop up.

Laura, you are so inspiring and your energy is sooooo infectious! Everyday, I wake up moving a little sluggishly. “Oh my, what has to be done today?” But after watching you, I’m raring to go! “Let’s go pick up pumpkins, straw bales and corn stalks! Let’s gather up the fall plants we bought, and let’s get the front entrance and boxes done!” I love my morning coffee but, honestly, you are even more energizing than coffee! Thank you for beginning our days so brightly.

Love how you’ve integrated the brick and the flag stone. They both represent your garden design between formal and informal. The brick lays out the path while the flag stone invites you to stay. Plus love the idea of mirroring the iron railing from the front, it will bring it all together in the end. I can tell the excitement in your voice that you are happy somethings are being buttoned up. 😊

this is my favorite change of all. It's stunning and make a huge difference visually. I've been watching since day one and what i love is that as you improve things, the place gets smaller and smaller. At first the wild mess seens huge, as you fix it it shrinks, but also becomes more functional. Love it!

Thanks for giving me the boot in my rear of enthusiasm! Now that Hurricane Ian 🌀 is behind us I cut back dangling branches, but now I need to "Rip off the band-aid" and just pull out several annuals that might or might not make it. Time to replace, replant and March On!

The stone wall and area where your new furniture will be look great and natural. Love the brick too. I think the extra length at your doorstep is because you generally need a little space (to sidestep) when opening the door and carrying things in/out, so as not to fall off the edge. The door hinged side is never where you step. (Does that make sense? LOL!) LOVE the way everything is evolving on your property!

Hi Laura and Aaron. The brick walkway looks amazing. There is something so pleasing, to my eye anyway, about the more limited palette of materials. The stack-stone walls look great too. I live in the Cotswolds, UK, and we use those everywhere! We call them drystone. And if I may, please don't sound apologetic for wanting the stone to sit the way you want, with the orange out of sight. You're the customer - do it how you want it! It's a real joy to see your garden develop.

I agree with plot10homestead that it would look really great if the back stairs were also brick to complete the look, and to have the railings which match the front stairs would be beautiful and tie things together so well. The stacked stone is incredible. Again, thank you so much for the update.

Laura, I have to stop before you start planting, and say, it would be cool to do a video of viewers submitting their "rip the band-aid off" projects. I had to do that when we had our old septic replaced with a mound system and I FREAKED out watching hedges etc. get ripped out by heavy machinery. Now it is WOW, we have a gorgeous view as a result. Would love to submit a before and after.

So I watched this yesterday and I’m still thinking about it. You’ve already challenged my thinking about plants I don’t like. I moved into a Mature, neglected garden and didn’t want to start over but there were many things I didn’t like. You gave me the courage to remove what didn’t fit MY garden and the space is the better for it. Now you’ve got me thinking about my old tired concrete walk to my front door. It’s narrow and adds nothing but would be costly to change. Seeing how much this really makes everything look so good and cohesive I’m really considering biting the bullet and starting to plan for a new walkway. My garden is better for watching your videos.

Hi Laura and Aaron! I love the look of the newly done areas, and agree with your Mom to using the flagstone for the seating area. It looks so pretty. I agree on adding the same railing to those steps, but then I love wrought iron work. My husband was a welder and made me a curved plant stand, three bakers racks, four small curved stands for candles, etc. and shelves for above the windows in the kitchen. I love all of them! ;-) As others mentioned, you could fill in the unfinished spots with gravel, or some of the flagstone as a temporary fix. Thank you so much for sharing!

Shade Porch : Consider Removing The Shade Porch And Its Concrete Steps.
Construct An Open Porch/Steps Right At The 'House Door' With The Same Brick, Before The Installation Of Custom Rails. The Shade Porch Is Seldom Used, If Ever ... Quick Idea 💡: if you’re unable to get cement poured for the open areas by the kitchen, maybe a put in pea gravel? Might work as a cheap, temporary fix and help keep the mud at bay? I love seeing the changes to the garden! Who knew I could be so excited to see someone else’s space?! 😂

Wouldn't it look nice if the stacked stone would replace the lattice under the porch? A great spot to pop a rock wall in wherever you can. I wonder if once you put those beautiful black railings up, you might want the planting bed to the left and right of the stairs to match by adding a conical evergreen on the right and removing some of the boxwoods there.

I always smile when you start your videos with "we're going to be planting a few things today" and you have like 50 plants!! Lol
Always fun and love seeing all the changes and growth coming together!! 🪴🍁

Yes me too. I've got a six pack of geraniums that I need to plant. That's enough for me these days. Especially when I've got to try to dig a hole in our dry soil. Not going to complain too much about that as lots of areas in the eastern states of Australia are flooding, have been flooding most of this year and with more to come apparently.

The brick walkway looks great, and the Phlox is beautiful. Great job. Looking forward to seeing more updates

Will you share where you purchased the black lanterns? Glorious space you have with many memories coming your way. Love your channel and I don't even garden!

Oh my, looks so good! I feel your frustration with not being able to get small concrete jobs done. We are fortunate enough to have moved into a new construction home this spring but haven't been able to get concrete poured, so it's pushed everything back, like getting the hardscaping for our yard and garden. Watching your channel feeds my need for planting as I look out into our clay/mud patch until next spring. Thank you so much for bringing us along as you do all your fun projects!

Will you film the cleaning part, that might be interesting to see done. Also, couldd we see an update on the planters along the fence behind you at the end of the video. They look so full.

Oh Laura, the brick walkway and rock wall is breath taking. The flagstone patio is defined and stunning, can't wait to see the area when the furniture arrives. I know when you plant in the areas (containing the orange color) you will probably not notice the color. Just a suggestion: Take a look at the back door, if you remove the cone shape boxwood and the smaller one on the other side. You can put planters on both sides filled with things you enjoy or the lovely tree not potted.

🌻Thanks for taking us along this Amazing Garden Development Journey! Q: Why did Benny change the placement of the joints in front of the steps? It looks like he used a running bond pattern in all of his other brick-work except here the joints almost line up with one another. 🌿🌻🌱❤️😊

Watching her for years now, I'm pretty sure she is gonna plant up to the very edge with stuff that would grow into the path and narrow that path again

Did you ever think about replacing those steps with maybe flagstone to match where your love seat etc., are going to go? Maybe curved? It just seems to me that those steps don't go with all the stonework you've now done. They kind of stand out .... like totally different. Oh well, that's just me, but thought I'd mention it.

The step is off center because the door handle is on that side. This gives you more space to step on the side where the door opens.
