Fading Steps:
Trim top to desired length
- Add texture
- Set in guideline with 0 lever closed
- lever open set in next guideline
- 1 guard lever open next guideline
- 2 & 3 guard blend up
- Blend out top guideline w/ 1.5 guard open to 3 qtr
- Blend second guideline w/ .5 guard open to 3 qtr
- Continue blending second guideline w/ 1 guard open to 3 qtr
- Blend first guideline w zero, 1/2, 3/4, all the way open.
- Do any touch up work
- Use trimmers to take out bottom hair
- Use electric shaver
- Do any line up with trimmers
- Shave with straight razor

You guys have seriously helped step my fade game up, I’m more consistent, faster and overall satisfied after I finish with a client. I wish I could show y’all pics of where I was last year to now, it’s been a massive jump. I still struggle with seeing guidelines on certain clients hair and that closed blade part taking out that bottom line used to freak me out till one I day I just decided to give it a shot. I usually set in a baseline with the top and debulk everything with a #3 closed then set in my guidelines.

Tbh honest I like to tweak my routine a bit here and there for a long time was doing it with the zero and latley just been using the trimmer. They both work but I suggest you try both and just see which feels better for you.

Hi Faded Culture I have little question, should zero gap my clippers to achieve same fade ? I wish to leave blade like from factory, but don't know if your fading method works with unadjusted blade
So the main reason I zero gap my clippers is to blend out my trimmer lines or to fade down to the skin. If you don’t plan on doing skin fades and only going as short as your clipper lets you then you should be able to blend out that line of the zero.

Do you have a fade that is not bald?
We do but down south it’s usually hot so our customers request it bald for the most part

I live in the valley here in Texas! I got a customer that asked for that type of fade. Which to me was new, since as you said here in the real South Texas people don’t ask for that. The customer is from Mexico. Plus his hair was to short for even a 2
