Hi Amanda! I accidentally clicked your video just now. I've been planting Zinnias since I was 15 y.o. in the Philippines and it brought joy within not only to myself but my family and people who passed by our house. They voiced out their appreciation which made me happy. I'm now 65 and and I've been here in USA for 10 years. I thought I wouldn't have the chance to plant them. When we moved to Utah this year, I tried to plant early in May but failed 3x due to unpredictable frost. Fortunately, I somehow succeeded and the flowers were beautiful! For some reason after years of ignoring gardening, I became obsessed with planting vegetables and flowers just when I became less able to move, bend over, and bend my knees! Thank you for a great video and great tips! Zinnias are my favorite flower, as a kid I was always surprised at their bold show of color. I soak the seeds for an hour and let them dry a bit right before I plant. They usually germinate a day faster. That’s my tip. 🙂
This is my first time planting zinnias. They have no blooms yet (zone 4) but you covered everything I never knew I needed to know about caring for them. Thanks ❤
Thanks for the zinnia info, going to try planting them the first time here in New Jersey. Just an aside, you don’t need the background music it over powers you talking. Your voice is pleasant enough. Happy planting 🌸 🌼

Love Zinnias, reminds me of my 2 grandmothers and I am now 74 . I started growing them about 5 years ago to honor their memory. I was simply amazed at the ease of these flowers. Always save the seed heads for next year.
Summer of 2023 and I am doing the largest zinnia garden ever, along with 6 pots full of them! I can't wait! It is too difficult to pick a favorite . . . I just love them en masse . . . like a butterfly! The hummingbirds are crazy for them too!
I live in Mississippi and we have very hot humid summers. Plus red clay soil. So I have about given up on trying to plant flowers. They either don't cone up or if they do they burn up. A neighbor told me about zinnias 3 yrs ago. I've been amazed at the beautiful flowers that grow. They grow anywhere there's sun and dirt! I plant every year. We keep the seeds. I cut bouquets very often. Like you said they branch out and multiply. As long as I'm able I'll be planting these beauties!! I'm a new subscriber.
Have not grown zinnias for over 20 years. However, your enthusiasm for these beautiful varieties has inspired me to get off my 72 year old butt and plant some seeds. Thank you! ❤️😊❤️
I have had zinnias in my garden for at least five years. They are such a pleasure because they are self-seeding. I have even had people stop at my gate to admire them. I live in South Africa. They bloom from September to late April .
I have zinnias everywhere this year… and I didn’t have to plant any of them. They’re all from last year, and the years before. They just want a place to grow, some rain, sunshine and they will put on the biggest show for you and your neighbors. I love zinnias, they make me happy 😃 🙏🏻
I'm so glad you mentioned that zinnias are important to pollinators. I bought a 6 pack of the small ones this year - my first time for having zinnias. After watching this video, I'm wanting to plant more for next season.
What a great video! I am in Southern BC Canada and this is my first year of growing (12") Lilliput Zinnias from seed. Your instructions were clear and simple. I have made notes and will be able to refer to them once I transplant the Zinnias in our garden. Thank you so so much and I look forward to viewing more of your videos!
Great video, Amanda! Zinnias are such a fun flower, and they self-sow like crazy, too. In fact, they can quickly take over large areas which makes for a lovely ground cover! 😊 (They're easy enough to pull up, too, when necessary.) I just started watching your channel. I see that this was 2 years ago and I appreciate that your newer videos have “less loud” background music. I have subscribed as I love your approach and your upbeat and positive attitude!
Thanks for these tips 🙏🏾. I’m going to be starting a garden and this is my first time growing flowers, veggies, and fruits. The flower I choose is Zinnias. I’m glad I choose a beginner friendly flower. I’m really excited and nervous to get started, but videos like this help me feel prepared to go out of my comfort zone and try something new.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge I started with zinnias last year and I love them this year I’m planting in my garden they look beautiful wen they bloom ❤🌸
I'm so excited for this year! I used to plant zinnias as a kid. This will be my first time in a long time planting from seed, I think I've got 15 different varieties! I just couldn't help myself.
Thanks for the tips. I love ur videos. I've just moved across the country (from Florida to Michigan) and planted zinnias, cosmos and sunflowers for the 1st time ever. I was wondering why my zinnias weren't as full as others. I will be planting a new garden in spring and will use ur cutting tip for the zinnias. Ty. Absolutely love your garden.
My favorite of ther moment, which I have not yet grown, is Forecast. It has a simple single flower in various colors with a well-defined, large disk of dark red surrounded by gold.
@@shesamadgardener They may be sold out. I have used half of the 50 seeds in the packet I got from Burpee months ago, and I could put the packet envelope with the remaining seeds in a postal envelope and mail it to you, if you are in the U.S., at least. Canada, too -- I'd just need to figure out how to do it.
Love zinnias. We plant them every summer. Have flowers for bouquets every week. Therel no drama with them. Dirt sun rain! I agree they are very hardy. Thank you love your videos

I started alot from seed outdoors this year and very dissemination ZERO came up. My seeds were a couple years old or maybe our nights too cool? Idk. I'm 7b. Sooo happy to find you esp being close to my zone. 😊
I too love zinnias,my favorite flower. Igrew enough last year to give 200 vases to rest homes and shutting in my area. I am planning an even bigger crop this year
Thanks so much! Great tips! I leave my zinnias up until the birds have picked out the seeds I left after gathering seed for next year. The birds love them!
Thank you for the tips. I bought some zinnia seeds from the dollar tree and thought what the heck if they don't germinate I am only out 25 cents.... they all sprouted. I can't wait to get them outside. Still almost a month to go before the last frost here in southern Ontario Canada. I hope I can keep them alive till then. :)
Great video, and lots of excellent information. I'm in zone 4B-5 in Eastern Ontario, Canada. For some reason I have never grown Zinnia's in all my years of gardening, so this year I've purchased several pkg's of different kinds, and looking forward to having so many beautiful cut flowers over a long season! :)

@@shesamadgardener Yes!!! I have discovered them during this past winter, and have enjoyed their video's. Very fun to see, and hear about all their growing experiences! :) ~M~
I’ve been saving seeds and growing for years 😃 I’m always listening to others ideas. I don’t claim to know it all 😄 the tip I got from you is to pinch them off at 6 inches. I wait until they are taller. I’m going to try it your way 😃 here’s my tip…I’m in Nebraska, I gather the seeds and leave the dead stalks and a lot of seeds on them over the winter. I clean up in spring. The birds love the seeds and the shelter from the storms. It’s a joy in the dark cold winter to look out and see the birds in the flower beds full of seeds I left for them 😃
Love gardening but had never planted zinnias until last year. I lined the front of our garden with the deck planter boxes full of zinnias and marigolds. So pretty. Started seeds indoors this year. Will plant more outside too. Great video!
New sub here! Gotta see what else ya got. I know my family would call me a mad gardener as well.... but they'd call me crazy! Last year when covid hit O tried so many new flowers. Zinnias being one of them and I had the giant kind and INSTANTLY fell love. I also tried propagating for the first time. Surprisingly I had a lot of success and failures. Didn't try with zinnias tho... what I did try with all my flowers was taking the seeds from all of my favorite flowers at the end of the season. I'm planted them about a week and a half ago and have been checking them every day. Well.... today they've emerged and very quickly! I swear they were nearly an inch and that was not even 24 hours from when I last checked them. Long story short or short story long.... I'm glad to have found your channel and looking forward to your content!!!
As my experience: I bought my seeds for 0.50 at walmart super cheap!! I say it is the best time to plant them during May. I planted mine last friday and they already sprouted🙃🌱

Thank you for the growing tips. Yours is one of the best videos I found because I am growing them for the first time in my life. Your voice is nice enough and therefore to my opinion you don’t need that annoying music in the background. If you insist to have some background noise, a few bird chirping or bumblebee humming here and there would have been good enough. Adore your beautiful flowers and congratulations to you for your beautiful garden. Thanks for the tips and the inspiration.
Zinnias were my ‘gateway’ plant into the world of gardening. When I was a child, a bag of Fritos came with a packet of zinnia seeds. I cleared a little spot along our back fence and planted the seeds. I was about seven and I was hooked. Almost sixty years later, I still love zinnias!

I just started watching your channel. I see that this was 2 years ago and I appreciate that your newer videos have “less loud” background music. I have subscribed as I love your approach and your upbeat and positive attitude!
Thanks for realizing this was two years ago ❤️❤️❤️
Glad you all made it through the freeze! Zinnias are just awesome 🌞ours have come back even after the February weather. Love them🌻
Nice!
It’s really hard for me to listen/pay attention
@@carmensteele4167 I have some videos on zinnias without music from a couple of years ago
Glad to hear they survived the February weather! 💚💚💚
I'm excited to grow some queeny line Zinnias this year. I fell in love with them last year on everyone's pages.
It is a show stopper!
I'm planting zinnias for first time in June , this was really helpful!
+Jen Brown you will love them!
I am now really excited about growing Zinnias. Thank you for the pep talk.
Wonderful!
+BlerdyVee You are going to love them! 💚💚💚

I'm so excited for this year! I used to plant zinnias as a kid. This will be my first time in a long time planting from seed, I think I've got 15 different varieties! I just couldn't help myself.
It’s gonna be gorgeous!
ua-cam.com/video/4KsXXaBDYvQ/v-deo.html
I love Zinnias !!! One of my favorite is a small Zinnia " Persian-carpet " which has so many layers of color and are stunning little guys
+Beth Sands I’m growing that variety from seed this year!
Thanks for the tips. I love ur videos. I've just moved across the country
(from Florida to Michigan)
and planted zinnias, cosmos and sunflowers for the 1st time ever. I was wondering why my zinnias weren't as full as others. I will be planting a new garden in spring and will use ur cutting tip for the zinnias. Ty.
Absolutely love your garden.
Sounds great! I bet you have fuller plants by cutting on them next year!
My favorite of ther moment, which I have not yet grown, is Forecast. It has a simple single flower in various colors with a well-defined, large disk of dark red surrounded by gold.
On my way to Google it!
So glad to find your channel! Thank you for all the info. I’ll be growing zinnias for the first time this year. 😊
You’re going to love them!
Same! 🤩
Love zinnias. We plant them every summer. Have flowers for bouquets every week. Therel no drama with them. Dirt sun rain! I agree they are very hardy. Thank you love your videos
+jennie winchester they are my favorite!!!
I’m so excited to start from seed! The love I have for my garden is only comparable to my love for my children, only difference usually the flowers 🌸 /herbs 🌱/vegetables 🥕 and fruit 🍉 don’t get as sassy as my kids can get, but every once in a while they (my garden) can throw me an unexpected twist which where your channel has really helped me when I’m unsure. Thanks Amanda. Can’t wait for your next video!
Aww thank you! You made my heart soar!
💚💚💚
Thank you for the great tips! Your zinnias are beautiful!
Thank you 💚
This video was so helpful! Thanks for being exactly who you are!!😁💚
You made me smile, thank you for the support ❤️
Thank you 💚💚💚
I started alot from seed outdoors this year and very dissemination ZERO came up. My seeds were a couple years old or maybe our nights too cool? Idk. I'm 7b. Sooo happy to find you esp being close to my zone. 😊
Zinnias are one of my favourites, so beautiful
Me too!
My first year growing, already in ground so thank you for wonderful tips!💜
Do you think it’s too late to start?
@@lindavan83 I don't think so, I have more new seeds started and they grow so quickly!

Great video Amanda. I will be growing these this year and taking them inside.
Can’t wait to see how yours turn out ❤️
Thanks for a great video ,thanks for sharing. I'm going to try purple prince this here in west of Ireland.
I too love zinnias,my favorite flower. Igrew enough last year to give 200 vases to rest homes and shutting in my area. I am planning an even bigger crop this year
+David Deal that is wonderful!
Thanks so much! Great tips! I leave my zinnias up until the birds have picked out the seeds I left after gathering seed for next year. The birds love them!
I bet they do!

One of my favorite UA-cam channels, You Can’t Eat Grass, is in Canada and they do have some extensive videos on flowers including zinnias. They have been very successful with them!
@@shesamadgardener Yes!!! I have discovered them during this past winter, and have enjoyed their video's. Very fun to see, and hear about all their growing experiences! :) ~M~
Lol. I watch this over and over. I love these flowers
+Vicki me too!
It’s a joy in the dark cold winter to look out and see the birds in the flower beds full of seeds I left for them 😃
+Be Beautiful so glad you leave them for the birds!
Love gardening but had never planted zinnias until last year. I lined the front of our garden with the deck planter boxes full of zinnias and marigolds. So pretty. Started seeds indoors this year. Will plant more outside too. Great video!
Thank you 💚💚💚

I literally check my seeds after only hours of being in soil 😂😂😂
As my experience:
I bought my seeds for 0.50 at walmart super cheap!!
I say it is the best time to plant them during May. I planted mine last friday and they already sprouted🙃🌱
That’s awesome!

New Viewer - just found your channel and loved it! Concise information but still so personal and genuine. I usually just buy my zinnias but will definitely try growing them from seed next year thanks to you. . I look forward to binge watching some more of your videos!
You are going to love growing them from seed!
A brilliant, beautifully filmed video with wonderful tips!! Thanks for teaching me how to grow and care for my zinnias this year. My first yr. of planting at my new house. Can't wait!!
Good luck and enjoy!

Wow so glad I found you. My next door neighbor's Mother passed away and her favorite flower was the Zinnia. She planted some and didn't know why they didn't grow fast and also why they were short. I didn't know they were full sun people. Thank You for sharing your tips. Blessings!
+Linda Parra You are welcome! 💚
Really. Very well done! The split screen is genius. Excellent photos. Better than most in catalogs thank you for your time, tips and your wonderful enthusiasm!
Wow, you just made my day with this comment ❤️ thank you ❤️
Thanks for sharing your beautiful zinnias! I have been growing them from seeds for a couple of years and I’m going to start cutting them back for more blooms. I noticed some mildew this evening while watering, what can I do for that? I love going out in the evening and watering them! I consider it my therapy and thinking time! Great video! From Ft Worth.....
+Loretta Pressler try watering from below only and keep the water from getting on the foliage. You can also treat with a simple dish soap and water mixture.
Or water earlier in the evening where leaves have a chance to fully dry off before late night.

Love your video. I'm going to try growing zinnias this year any tips for soil preparation? I live in new England and typically I've mixed peat moss and manure with the soil. Thanks!
Just make sure the soil drains well!
Hello She's A Mad Gardener,
Thank you 😊 for sharing your knowledge regarding the Zenia flower plants.
I am going to try out this plants for first time in 2022.
I previously bought these flowers from nursery but I was unsuccessful to keep them busier.
Many blessings from our HEAVEN FATHER to you and your family in 2022.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2022.
+Monique Nguyen happy new year! If you have them to be fuller, be sure to prune them often … every time you cut one bloom, 2 will grow in its place.
Those five tips are great. Thank you.
A friend gifted me some seeds a while ago, that was my first time growing zinnias and I was amazed and hooked. I want them in my garden every year now.
They are such a fun bloom!

love your video.....music is so distracting and loud.............split screen excellant
Totally agree with you! I’m working on doing better with balance of sound ... thanks for the feedback!
Also love double screen so we see you and the flowers
💚💚💚
I think I will continue to do this in future videos. 💚💚💚
+geeksupply Yep, I understand, this video was made months ago and I’ve adjusted in my newer videos, but thanks for the feedback.
Love the Zinnia Video ! Your flowers are Awesome Beautiful. I am going to look for some different Varieties and have some Fun.
+Cynthia Dalessandro Thank you 💚💚💚
