Ended up getting one of these bags, my largest reservation was the lack of hydration capability. However, there is an odd large tall narrow pocket on one side of the bag, and in spite of not being designed for it, i found it fit a 1L platypus bladder nicely, with the hose just poking out the edge of the zipped section and fed up through the loops on the shoulder straps.
Overall a pretty good and well thought out bag, only one or two things that would give me any pause but they're pretty minor details in what is a pretty decent bag.

Thinking about getting one of those for going on a several months trip (WHV) to bring my camera gear with me (+ regular suitcase). Does a 6D + 24-105 + 70-200 + 24mm samyang would fit in there ? Can a laptop fit in the top compartment? Also, the size seems to be okay as a carry-on luggage on a plane. Has anyone tried?

No, not specifically anyway. You would have to modify yourself perhaps. There is just a pocket for a water bottle
Yes , there is a side mesh outside pockets which is approx 260 mm deep x 140 mm wide and this has an outer strap which is adjustable to keep the waterbottle secure
