Thanks for this tutorial as there is VERY LITTLE info out there about connecting the IC-9700 to HRD. Even though the IC-9700 has now been out for a half year. Anyway, for me your instructions did not initially work. Through playing around I found that the USB (B)/DATA Function setting MUST (in my case) be set to "DV Data". Now it works great. Would not have gotten to success without your video. THANKS!
Hello Gaz. It was nice to see you on Saturday. I didn't get the opportunity to say hello sadly, it was a little crazy in the showroom! A really nice event :)
I asked icom about this and they just raised eyebrows at me and said.. if there is something concrete I can point them to they said they would have a look.. do you have any info? Feel free to link it on gazlabs facebook.. gaz
I'm just going through the process of setting up my 9700 to use WSJT-X now, as well as connecting it to a logging application. Why is it that a native 9700 profile doesn't exist in either OmniRig or WSJT-X? It's not a new radio, it's been out for ages. Shouldn't these applications have been updated by now? I have had a look on the web and found one file that purports to be suitable here: www.hb9ryz.ch/downloads/ic-9700-data.ini but I have no idea whether it's OK to use or not. Thanks for the upload regardless - very grateful.
Thank you Gaz for this presentation, without people like you a lot of Hams would find it a problem, thanks again regards.
Thanks, really appreciated :-) some good stuff in the pipe line as manufacturers send me some things to play with :-)

What cable did you use between the 9700 and your PC?
A standard USB cable used on most printers
