A voyage of discovery as I familiarise myself with the Icom IC-9700, lovely radio with satellite function and D-Star. bit disappointing there was no-one on air perhaps we should all jump on the VHF and UHF bands one weekend??

mine just here today. comments in a week or so. So far my only comment with that bright display, I wish they would have back lit the front buttons. I know it's both base & mobile, but a little larger like the 746

Hi Gary, i wonder if the SO239 is an easy swap out just like the 7100 ? Not soldered in just rests on a little spring loaded clamp. Like you say strange they just didn't have all 3 as N Type.

Dear , Can we modify the VHF freq bellow then 144 MHZ? I found standard frequency is 144 above. 73 (JZ18AKG)

Wish they could all be SO-239. Coax doesn’t usually come with N connectors.

You can remove two diodes to get 144 to 148 & 430 to 450, makes it USA spec.
