For as neglected as it seems to have been on the maintenance front, I'm amazed by how clean it was, and how well it cleaned up. Looks like a winner to me. It's been a while since I've seen an older B&S engine like that one.
I had a Murray that was basically the same as that unit. A little different, however, the Murray had a whole Chrome grill up front. It was a sick machine until she blew up one day. hehe.
Can you tell me about what year that mower is? It looks like it was well made with actual metal instead of plastic. I haven't seen a quality-built murray in a while. I can say that about bolens, troybuilt and many others. I have a bolens 1900 built around 1986, cast iron rearend solid machine.
I had a Murray version of that. It was a 16 hp twin cylinder briggs with a 42" deck. The deck was made from heavy gauge steel that weighed a ton! Mine was a burgundy color though, not that candy apple like yours. That is not the original engine though on yours
That’s a great mower. It was the best price too! :) I looks like a well made machine. They don’t make them like that anymore. I remember seeing and using mowers like that when I was a kid. How is the Olds doing?
I would love to find a unique model like that! I would even pay money for one. It’s the rare, unique mowers that I like.
I have a 10hp 1984 model all original that belonged to my grandpa. I rode that alot as a kid. No price would buy it lol neat old mowers.
My Lawn Chief push mower with B&S engine is now 26 years old and still runs great. The only repair was to replace the plastic carburetor.

I had a Murray like that and it had a cool heavy duty transaxle👍
That thing looks sick, can't beat free
these mowers eat belts like real bad
that's the price I like and it looks good too.
That powerwashing was the most satisfying thing I've seen today..
I like it. Looks like it was always kept in the garage.
NIce mower! Good save!
Runs and moves for free? Hell can't beat that at all man.

Those old lawn chief mowers were built like a brick shithouse.
