- Welcome back to my mod spotlight series for Fallout 4. In this series we will look at the selection of fun and sometimes cheaty mods that have recently come out for this fantastic game.
In this episode I mess around with The Return of the Driveables of the Commonwealth - Boats mod which adds into the game functioning boats that you can sail around the waters of the commonwealth.

If you switch to 1st person view, while you drive a boat, you can actually drive in reverse (default key "S"). Very useful when un-docking from the shore, or just to move backward.
There are dozens of preexisting boats that look to be seaworthy in the Commonwealth. Why not just make the existing boats navigable?

cus it would be kinda useless... i mean why use a boat? to travel to spectacle island? i see no more use then that

Considering that there's not a single working boat in the commonwealth and spectacle island is an isolated island, it would seem all settlers, provisioners and raiders have to swim to get to the settlement
And I guess it the same thing for my supply line from the Commonwealth to Far Harbor
I'm surprised no one is using any , hell if I was the SS and general of minutemen I would create a navy for us and turn the castle and fort strong into a naval base and take the Yangtze and USS Democracy submarines and fix them up and put missiles on them and take the tugboats around Boston waters and turn them into destroyers by putting a artillery piece on the front of each one with turrets and create 2 fleets with a submarine commanding each one and the minutemen can project their power outward to other territories and so forth lol 😎

i do not know if you ever covered this. but the same mod author even before this mod was uploaded. has mods under the same "driveables of the commonwealth" but its Radstags. its awesome, he also has a mounted enemies mod called Ruff riders who ride on large dogs. its pretty sweet too. especially if you combine it with his driveable dogs mod.
the same author also has a drive-able giddyup buttercup mod. but id recommend the mod "driveables of the commonwealth - grownup buttercup" by Shadowliger

are you still working on these mods ? regarding the physics / animations of the boats ? how realistic is it to wish to feel the weight of the boat on the waves, at least something similar ?

For those asking for a port to xbox....yes we will be doing so once we get the bugs sorted out...we only release a stable (as we can make it) version for beth.net so don't have to maintain 2 mods while patching. Sorry PS4, it has special coding and custom assets so send Sony the hatemail please.

Yes you can have dogmeat and 1-2 companions ride with you and visible.

i say this every time i learn of a really amazing mod -- WHY TF CANT THE DEVS INCLUDE THIS IN THE BASE GAME OR DLC?? WE HAVE TO RELY ON 3rd PARTY MODS THAT CAN BREAK WHEN THERES AN UPDATE???!?!? the devs create detailed environments with a fairly deep and intricate lore and they anticipate player choices that affect the game world but they cant include things like this that is simple by comparison??? really!!! 🤦♂

This mod is cool but too buggy and its mostly because of the breakdown feature. I uninstalled it and i hope the mod author gets rid of that "breakdown" feature or atleast make it optional. The mod works exactly as it should until i get a breakdown then my game becomes unplayable. I noticed in the mod desc the author says if you have issues its not the mod... i highly doubt it but he is the mod author not me, so i will just wait for another boat mod like this to come along :/
