He was hitting each pad twice with one movement of the hand. His pads have a hell of a lot more bounce and/or sensitivity than mine. One downward movement of the hand causes your hand to bounce back and down again for two hits... like if you drop a medium-weight object. It hits once, then bounces back up a slight bit and back down before staying down.

there's small sections throughout the song where you can go free style, and depending if you're righty/lefty you hit either the green drum or the red one to activate Overdrive

He's playing heel-up. On his older videos that he used to have, the angle was wider. It was easier to see. Plus, usually when playing heel-down, your knee doesn't move.
