Randomly got the urge to look up rockband videos and I remembered this guy from sooooo many years ago! Brings me back to when I was 13 😂 very great job man! Such nostalgia
I can't tell you how many times I 100% a song but miss the last notes because I've gotten carried away in the big finish Mostly because I drop my sticks
I'm at that point now. Lol. I started the drums a month ago after having it sit in my house for about 7+ years. Hardest song I've beaten is (Don't Fear) The Reaper. Also, I have the pads sitting on a chair, because I lost everything but the pads, sticks, and kick pedal.
Still remember watching this when I was thirteen, you were my hero hahahaha. I don't think I ever even came close to gold starring this. Thanks for the memories Lee. (And thanks youtube algorithm)
Ah dude I just revisited rock band It still holds up as my all-time favorite rhythm game, I remember drumming out to these kinds of songs as a kid, those were the days.
Coming back to just watch some old rockband 1 videos i miss these a lot, i even remember watching your original channel before the copyright system took it down.
Those were the days, haha. There really wasn't a "copyright system" back then. They just deleted my channel suddenly. No 3 strikes, no warnings at all. And no recourse whatsoever to try and get it back. lol, but I digress.
I was playing this with some friends earlier. I made it to about 2:40 and failed, my friend made it with a few timely star power deploys from other band members. Both of us were shaking for a good 5 minutes after we finished the song. This is crazy intense.
@sabertoothbeaver Essentially everywhere, especially during the Solo and build up to the final chorus. They're all only by about 7-10 BPM, but when you're going that fast it really throws you off.
@acekombat2005 no silly :P that's an overdrive section at 3:00 where the player can choose whether or no to activate overdrive by hitting the green cymbal at the end or not to activate overdrive by just leaving it. he didn't hit it because he didn't want to activate overdrive
He didn't *miss* those notes, he just purposely didn't hit them. Those notes at the end of the fills aren't really notes in the song, they are just there to activate overdrive... So you purposely don't hit them sometimes in order to activate your overdrive at a time where there's more notes, which gets you a higher score. (aka following an optimal path)
@TheSynth06 They change it in some songs because it would be extremely hard to hit the hi-hat/yellow pad instead of the snare/red pad on that kind of drum kit set-up.
Sometimes you gotta just check the flashing rate at the beginning. The flash speed indicates the overdrive drain rate, uncovering that the drain rate for the original version is stupidly fast.
Wow. Impressive job. I'd like too see some hints on how to use the drum sticks, how to grip them and make them bounce so easily, because I can't let them bounce like this. It's awesome. :D
This video actually helped me to figure out the rhythm i needed for the red pad. On parts like that, I mostly hear my sticks beating the pad rather than the actual music, so hearing the beat of your sticks gave me something to work off of. I’m still nowhere near able to hit all the notes cause I don’t have the right technique yet, but I’ll get there some day.
@Scottland50 All comes with confidence dude. Once you get it down you will get more and more relaxed. I know cause I'm playing tenors this year for the bluecoats.
@Scottland50 I'm almost in the same position as you, really all it takes is lots of practice while actively trying to be more relaxed while you play, and you'll find that you'll make progress in due time.
@winger1785 He FCed this about two years before RB3 even came out lol. I'm very confident that if he wanted to, he could have FCed RttH (OV) on pro drums the day after RB3 came out.
@acekombat2005 -.- have you ever played Rock band before? Thats an overdrive fill. You dont need to hit them green notes, only if you want to activate your overdrive, they dont count as legitimate notes.
@Scottland50 what most rockband dummers do is to focus on the game. if you go and buy a pratice pad, relax, and just make random beats and soon you can be able to play fast while being relaxed
it's a FC, that was a overdrive activation note, that you can skip if you don't want to activate overdrive, so as you can see it didn't break his multiplier and it says 100% at the end
I'm pretty good at the drums on rockband too. But every time I hear somebody play this song I always forget how I suck at this song and its not until I'm attempting it until I remember. Damn you for making it look so freaking easy!!!!! Great vid though! :D
dude i got to say that was fucking amazing, theres no way i could play like that even if i had trained for years, respect to ya man and keep em comin....
Can't wait to get my IONs for Christmas! So far I have a GS of this song but can't get the FC on my Rock Band 2 kit. Hopefully I'll get it before school starts again:) I'll post it as a response.
@IISYNYSTERII you get a video camera to record you drumming, and a dazzle or some other capture card to record your TV, then use an editing program to cut the bit of the video you want to show and overlap it with the hands view....
@Scottland50 Well i play tenors in my school band(the four drum things) and all i can sayy that it comes with time and practice..try do eight hits on each hand about four times as fast as possible while still staying relaxed and slowly increase your speed overtime as a warm up...thats the most basic exercise there is..and i know this comment is really late but i hope this helps!
I need to get some IONs. I have played my Limited Edition TBRB drums to the bone and now I need a new kit. I also suck because I have Severe Scholiosis and therefore my arms hurt A LOT during this song even if I use my wrists.
This song used to be impossible for me to beat (Using RB2 stock kit), then I borrowed my friends barely used kit and 98%'d it first try lol. Good job on fc, I'm no where near that.
The one thing wanna shout out to is the credit I give to whoever voiced this cover. It ain't easy singing an Iron Maiden song, and whoever covered it did a damn good job. Never ever ever be Dickenson, but it's very respectable.
@Deepstreetsoccer Go search for "Brainstorm drums FC". Also try "Scatterbrain by Jeff Beck. There are more on the import pack for Smash Hits. Also, the new one is going to be coming out soon. and it's going to have a ton of hard songs.
@zadabo99x wrong. a full combo is that, and where you dont get any overhits e.g. hitting when there isent a note there will lose your combo but you can still get all 100% of notes. thats why they say full combo and not 100%
I'm not sure which version of this song this one is, but I have one and at around 2:32 when the drum roll starts. There are no small breaks in it. I think I have the original one. But idk....
great playing. i always hated that there wasnt certain colors for what are for cymbals and snares and toms, here snare color can be hihat, in guitar hero there were logic, so you actually, if you know the song, play eyes closed, if you knew the song.
@acekombat2005 Dude, its not fake, in the sense that this guy is an absolute god, has some insane videos with some much more complex Fc's, so he has no reason to fake this.
@Scottland50 Nothing to do with been relaxed.. or Good, Just Play In time all great things happen. Just keep practicing and playing eventually one day it will just happen. did too me. and if can happen to me then it can happen to you! good luck and remember! The Drums where born from the music you here! So respect the Sound! :D
I miss these days.. Where gh/rb were so popular..
;(
This comment was 7 years ago Christ.
I still play rock band 3
Clone Hero
@@beckybecky125 clone hero is somewhat popular but it no where near the peak of gh/rb. Rb4 tries to hold on though.

Am I the only one who has horrible memories with this song on drums doing the endless set list and spending and hour trying to pass it
@@salboscarello9546nope I suffered so much that I had to quit the endless setlist completely
I can't tell you how many times I 100% a song but miss the last notes because I've gotten carried away in the big finish

+DJ Flakes Very true!
+DJ Flakes Hahahah I've done that too, I quickly used my hands, which in fact broke the yellow plastic pad underneath the rubber. R.I.P. drumset.
it happens to pretty much any good player, it's widely known as choking
i remember back when this game first came out and the drums concept was new, everyone was like "what the fuck was that" when first playing this song.
haha that is so true. Or like some crazy part in the song that you fail and you go "WTF WAS THAT SHIT!"
Run To The Hills was like TTFAF of the drums in RB1. Looking back now it's probably one of more easier hard drum songs now
Utter nostalgia. Thank you Lee for these beautiful times we can all look back on and smile at
Best vocal cover
10/10
Much emotion
Does it bother anyone else that the red was the hi-hat and the yellow was the snare?
very much so
Ben Wilson it's a lot harder to do this rhythm with yellow on hi hat and red on snare than you may think.
No because you have to play the hi hat part with two hands. It'd be awkward to keep it mapped the other way
Well, play on Pro Drums if it bothers you.
I know this may sound crazy but it’s just as easy... start with your left hand... I do it all the time
Still remember watching this when I was thirteen, you were my hero hahahaha. I don't think I ever even came close to gold starring this. Thanks for the memories Lee. (And thanks youtube algorithm)
Thanks, I can't believe how long it's been!

I just dug my guitar hero and rock band out of storage so my 10 year old can experience it.
At what point does your hands get tired
try doing the same thing he does with his leg
follow along and it'll give you a good idea

When you export RB1 songs, Run to the Hills is not transferred over.

The fact that I’m using this video to learn how to play this song on the drums. And the fact that it’s working so far. Is wild

@snowden7772 that note is optional, and it turns on your starpower or wth it's called on rock band
@Scottland50 It's half fingers half wrists. My personal advice would be to learn the flying finger technique and apply it.
is that a fish tank on the top right corner? its either the fish is extremely lucky or sad due to all those rock music from the loud speaker
Run to the Hills in Rock Band 1 is a cover. I believe the Album Version is available as DLC.
my fav song in all of rock band.
@monkeydung5 It means full combo. In other words completely perfect, no flaws.

FC stands for full combo and it means having your score multiplier at the maximum for the whole song, which would mean you would get 100%.
