A few years since you posted this. I want to say thanks. You helped me fix my daughter's bell, just in time for her birthday. Thank you so much.

I got a bell to flick, and my experience is that it is pretty much useless, unless you flick it several times, and that takes time and is annoying in usage.
You really need a consistant tone over a period of time, so pedestrians and everyone else has the chance to make out, where the noise is coming from.
Different sounds from other bells, like electric ones aren't even recognized as ring and ignored as well.
The best sound is an old school riiiiinnnng riiiing. Every pedestrian recognizes it in an instant.

I appreciate the information and that you took the time to open the first bell up to show us how it worked. I almost bought the second kind of bell for my bike on Amazon (which I wouldn't have liked as much) but thanks to this video, I was able to spot the difference.

wow, thank you! this is exactly what I was after.
I'm an old school cycle rider and used to classic type of bell. And when my new cycle arrived with second type of bell, I was highly disappointed. I even though that I do something wrong with it because I could hardly hear any sound from it.. gonna change it back to classic one soon. )
btw you're cute and your voice is also calming and pleasant )

What ever happened to Jenna Walop? "Enquiring minds want to know", because I happened across this while looking for a bell sound for the Redsia - All Metal - Bike Bell; so she should have become UA-cam famous by now, haha...

Nice but when you disassemble it and the spring goes flying before you can see where it is... It's close but not quite what I needed. you've obviously got great skills on the 3D it would just be a lot more useful if it showed the spring return for the lever.

I have a spring in mine to cause the arm to spring back. She has one too but she doesn't mention it. Does anyone know where it goes?

+Sam N Actually I figured it out. I tore apart another bell of mine and it was quite simple if you can see how it fits.

I have literally the exact same bell ... also inkeping is not an english word you silly dutch woman :D bedankt voor de video trouwens. Lijkt erop dat de staaf van mijn bel waar de hoed op hoort verbogen is waardoor hij niet goed contact maakt met de 'bulge'.
