Good afternoon Sir, great vid. Don’t like the knurled pin but enjoyed learning about something new. Trash can 🗑️ time. Getting my oil changed while watching this lol!
Thanks! Lost count of how many junk parts have gone into the trash can over the years! I decided there is no good reason I can think of for a knurled pin unless you just really hate the "C" clip. Really didn't want it in the first place! Mobil 1! There is no other!
@@peteregger7928 Crazy huh! My younger brother lives in Washington right up against the Columbia river, that body of water looks like the ocean to me😯 Anyway he spends upwards of $600 for fireworks for celebrating the 4th of July. Not me man. I barely have $600 a year to spend apart from my bills😆
Yep! It was the right thing to do! I've never damaged a cover or had any of the locking mechanisms fail but I'll bet as soon as I installed that knurled pin that's when it would happen! Lol!
Afternoon Pete 😊 Glad Your Going With The Mil Spec Instead of The Knurled Pin 😇👍🏼 Hope You Had an Awesome Independence Day Bet There Were Some Awesome Fireworks There In N Las Vegas 😀😎👍🏼
Yes! Some wild stuff was going on! Local news said over 40 fire department call outs! Clark County only allows what they call "Safe and Sane"! The nearest Indian reservation where they sell the good stuff that can bring down satellites is only about 15 minutes from here! Guess where everyone goes to get their fireworks! Lol!
It's hard to get around Stoner's original design. The newer snap in type may be an improvement but they just wouldn't look right for an A2. I've got the A2 bug since they started putting the upper receivers back on the market again. Figured I would build a few retro's in case they disappear. Started looking at A1 stuff so I'm out of control again!
Not sure? With the barrel nut and delta ring installed there's not much working room. If you were really careful with a Dremel? I know how that would go for me! Lol!
@@peteregger7928 I'm testing a CMMG polymer ejection port cover atm, and first impressions are good. I wanted something polymer that mimicked a steel cover, and used standard hardware.

Morning Pete👋 Hope you had a good 4th.
Thanks Lisa! I know a lot of my neighbors sure did! They were lighting stuff off for hours! Can't imagine how much money they spent!

@@tortugalisa4748 A lot of the Casinos here put up amazing displays! Maybe pay for parking if you want to get really close and deal with the heat!
I figured this is where you were finally going with that thing lol

Pete approves this message. 😂
I approve your reply! Lol!
I know you probably like the classic aesthetics of the GI type parts, but I’ve started using the polymer one piece Magpul dust cover on everything.
Yes! If I wasn't going for the A2 look I would definitely be trying one of those snap in types!
I think the knurled pin looks nice, but the benefit of being able to remove the pin without taking the barrel off wins the contest.

@@peteregger7928 I just completed an A2 clone myself. I have been very pleased with it.
@@peteregger7928... Your out of control is our gain. Getting the bug is just plain fun though. Thanks Pete for taking us along.
@@Allenmar73 Thanks Allen! I do enjoy putting them together! Still learn something new during each build.
@@garyK.45ACP Something about the uncluttered A2 that has always got my interest!
Could a person push the knurled pin forward, then use a hacksaw to cut off the knurling, and then pull it rearward?

That thing just looks like a bad idea, idk what they were thinking
After I ran across this thing I took a look around and there's quite a few of them on the market. It's a lessor design for sure!

@@Theloss52 I'll take a look at the CMMG's.
