- Hello everyone! Today, I'm in Bristol and I've headed to Miller and Carter to experience their breakfast buffet that I was blissfully unaware that they even served. Of course, it wouldn't be finished without trying their Steak experience, hopefully it's as good as the last time!

Nice buffet brekkie, a fresh omelette a nice little extra 🎉 I love to guess the price, I went for £15. Lovely inside too and City prices reflect. Ty for staring Gary 🎉great vlog as always🎉

Gary, the filet mignon is the end cut of the full filet.
There are 4 cuts off a full fillet. Working down.
1. Chateaubriand (thick end)
2. Tournedos Rossini
3. Fillet (smaller as it tapers down).
4. Fillet mignon (used for a Stroganoff).
All 4 of these cuts are lacking in flavour as there is very little to no fat content. Officially, this should be (believe it or not) classed as offal because its found on the inside of the animal, but never is.
That's why in most restaurants it's always offered with a sauce.
It's the most expensive and the most overrated cut.

Thankyou for that, it is interesting to know about our beautiful humble Angus🐂 cow cuts (plus others). I have tried most cuts, but always go for rib eye with a good ' marl', just my personal choice.🍽
Surely if you used to be a highly qualified chef then you still are a highly qualified chef? Irrespective of the fact that you may not be currently working as a chef? 🤔

Yesterday my wife and I went to Miller and Carter for my 73 birthday. Yet again, their food was wonderful, as was the service and ambience, I am sorry your steak was not up to expectations. I was surprised Gary said the fillet was tasteless as it always is tasteless,and never something to order if you want a beefy steak.
I agree however as it’s was 30 day aged it should have had good flavour. The Whitby video is up tonight and is a bit different lol 😳🤔👍

The breakfast looked well stocked with options, but completely agree the price for the breakfast is just on the expensive side.
Honest opinion on the steak looked disappointing, although the started looked lovely 😊

We have a few Miller and Carters here in Essex and they are amazing. Sort of like an upgrade from the Harvester chain.
I’m thankful they are. I find they’re hit and miss but I’ve had some good meals

I agree great channel no gimmicks all about the food service ambience and all the things we really care about
Just watched the breakfast. When you said you were one of the last to come in I thought oh no it’s all going to be dry and wrinkly. To be fair apart from the bacon and hash brown it was all good. Love the omelette thing going on. Price wise? As you said yourself “it’s not twice as good as the primmer inn”.
Onto the steak now. 👍

Great video Gary, as always, when you said you’re going to Bristol for a buffet, I suddenly got worried after your last buffet in Bristol! The breakfast did look good, although rather expensive but the steak dinner obviously wasn’t so good. Did look a little bit overcooked and although tender, you said it had no taste which is not good news for that money.
The highlight of the video was of course your exercising running off your breakfast. Would like to see more of that. Please maybe also do a fitness video that could be a new line for you to keep off the pounds with all that eating. Looking forward to the next one!

Mitchell and Butlers, the same company as the Harvester so it’s interesting to see the difference. I’ve had the Shallot tart (I think it was) and it was OK, I’d have it again.

Great video, nice honest review. Steak looked nice but that's how I liked it cooked, medium well, love a jack Daniels honey glazed sauce on it. The brekkie looked bog standard, exactly like the premier inn buffet ones, bacon exactly the same, looked tasteless and inedible. But the sausages did look better, looked very tasty. Keep up the great work Gary 👍👍👍
Thanks very much. Yes, the steak just had no flavour despite how it was cooked. I know fillet isn’t packed with flavour but couldn’t help but feel disappointed!

The buffet looked decent, but you're right about the price being a bit high.
I've been to a local Miller & Carter 4 or 5 times for family meals and meeting up with mates, and never had a really great steak, tried a few different cuts and they've always quite nice to be fair but nothing amazing that makes me want to go back again.
I think the best steak I've had in the UK was at Goodmans in Mayfair, a very flavoursome piece of meat and cooked to perfection, this was a few years ago though.

Hi Gary, this is just my opinion,and of cause you may not agree with me,I think it isn’t perhaps the best thing to do a big breakfast then a lunch in one day, perhaps breakfast,and a late dinner 8:30-9 pm is a better schedule.it’s like never go to the supermarket when you haven’t eaten,you will buy to much,and never go after you have just eaten,you will buy nothing..Enjoyed your reviews as usual,and so happy you are doing so well on UA-cam.

Hi Gary, another firm but fair review. On this occasion I found your buffet breakfast review to be ever so generous. The bacon was incinerated, the hash brown soggy, and the bloody toast burnt 😂😂😂
The toast was down to me, I thought it had an excellent selection and I did like that you could order the eggs fresh 👍

Breakfast looked reasonable as hotel chains tend to go, but they are never the same as home fry up.
If you are at a hotel and not in a fry-up mood, try ordering kippers as they are generally cooked to order and always lovely with some hash browns, baked beans and tomatoes and an orange or tomato juice.
The steak was definitely overcooked and I'm sure the tomato with the steak was one of the ones hanging around since breakfast, I'm sure I saw the same one at 3:34.
I must try the onion loaf though, that sounds good.
