I never really gave Aborted a listen before this but hearing you sing the praises of them made me give them a shot. And they fucking rule.
Some of the gnarliest artwork I’ve ever seen
Aborted is a band that remains consistent without becoming stagnant. A rare feat for extreme metal bands. They have a formula and they know how to tweak it the right ways. Hearing alot more black metal influence on this album which goes well with their approach. Terror Vision also has the best artwork of their careers. Love that cover!
Man, spot on, the album is stunning with interesting and unusual twists at certain parts but as you said that’s Aborted! And this artwork is sick, awesome!
Agreed, They haven't really had to change their sound that much since Global Flatline, if anything it's just been small tweaks here and there and just adding touches onto an existing formula. Most bands can't really do that record after record after record.
Agree one hundred percent, but what did you guys think about Strychnine 213? Love it, loathe it like most people?
RottedHumanFleshForFeasting 16661 Loathe it! It's a horribly executed rush job with terrible production and lazy songwriting. Listened to it when it came out about 3 times and then got rid of the album. I honestly don't know why the band at the time insisted on coming out with an album so soon after Slaughter & Apparatus, which is a favorite of mine. That album I feel is a pretty unique and well-made album that took chances. With Strychnine, the band clearly didn't know where they wanted to go musically. The songs sound like they were written in 3 days. Strychnine is the one misstep in the band's discography. I'm not too crazy about their pre-Goremaggeddon albums, but at least those albums are listenable and show the progression of the band's sound. They fit the time period they came out.
AcolyteofNightbreed I remember a few interviews where people asked them what they thought about Strychnine and even the band members replied with "Whats to talk about it?"
Blayne is the brother that i never had, but also never wanted... but now as an adult appreciate the wisdom of.

They were awesome. I felt that black dahlia wasnt as good as i expected. But i never seen them so i had this expectation...so yeh maybe i did it to myself. I felt aborted was better,much better

Fucking awesome album great production and the vocals are skull crushing insanely intense the pitch ranges are phenomenal the slower groovy element is a good addition as well. AMAZING TO SAY THE LEAST.

Holy shit, I thought this was coming out in October. I was going to make it a double bill with Hate Eternal’s upcoming album. Nice Bloodbath shirt Blayne.
I liked the zoom into his face when he started talking about the empty ships. He had a space-'Nam flashback for half a second. Or considering his Tyrannid reference he might be experiencing Space Hulk PTSD.
But this record fucking kills, it's fun and heavy.
This Band and this Album are BEYOND fucking Insane. Amazing brutality with that Trash Groove that slams your fucking SKULL. Beyond Awesome! R E S P E C T!
Blayne's explanation of how the atmosphere of the music matches the album cover is equavalient to me hearing Morgan Freeman's voice on a wild nature show on television explaining animal behavior. Smoothing

For me, Aborted has always been one of those bands where you just take an afternoon and jam out to the whole discography.
I love this hilarious review, and tend to strongly agree with the thrust of it. Big listener since The Saw & The Carnage Done, still really enjoying the brutal (and fuckmedead, it IS brutal) ride. I think you hit the nail on the head regarding the interesting sense of atmosphere they build with samples, noises etc. always gritty, a little cheesy, but horrific intent & (I think seasoned metal listeners get de-sensitised to the nasty edge it all has) a genuine undercurrent which uninitiated bubblegum adherents would find slightly disturbing.

i agree but id give them 5 skulls. This album is up there with Soreption, Enferi, and a few other 2018 releases. This years top album is gunna be hard as hell to choose. We still have Hate Eternal and Psycroptic coming out both in October. Also Im a go as far as saying Unbirths new album should be easily in the top 5. Also when the fuck is Disentomb dropping there new album. Jake you da man lmao.
