Btw cheez and huff were both in voice chat together during the game and huff was yelling to cheez to top out so he wouldn't be in a scout clip lol. Instead of being in a clip he got his own video!
whoops lmao
ooooooooops
Hahahahaha! That's glorious. Keep up the GREAT work, aGameScout!
is there a reason why he didn't want to be in a scout clip?

I don't play Tetris, but your clear articulation of every move and the stakes at play made this so easy to follow and amazing to watch! One of the most well made videos I've seen in a while!
Yeah, this guy knows his Tetris.
Way better than sports commentary
My haters throw rocks at me and IT hurts. I hope they don't throw The Rock at me because I like him as an actor. GAGAGAGAGA!!! I am funny!!! I am the funniest UA-camr EVAH! Please agree, dear herm
I don't even play NES Tetris and I have no idea what's going on, but you made me watch through the end.
That's a sign of a great video.

The real mvp here is huff. Dude played out of his mind and pushed cheese so far that game. Would not have been nearly as exciting without someone playing that clean. Rolling is just too fast paced for the current landscape to keep up
absolutely. Nearly back-to-back maxouts. If he got that extra double on level 29 in game 3, Cheez wouldn't have completed the chasedown.

The way Huff smiles at the accomplishment rather than being mad that he lost is just warmth in the soul.

I did not know that was what Cheez looked like, and I'll be honest, I am skeptical that he can play that well on 29 speeds with his hands in the air and on his head all of the time. I guess that's the benefit of this new rolling strategy, though.
Feet
That's because he doesn't play like that, he only played like that during wc 'cause players were asked to show their hands while playing.

UA-cam Algorithm: What?

It is not the algorithm that bends, it is only yourself.

Scout narrating details during high-level plays that go by so fast is what make classic tetris so palatable to a casual such as myself. It makes understanding the game easier and contextualizes the amount of skill and brainpower the top ranks in the scene have. ciao!
I broke my feet today because I kicked my computer because someone commented that my videos are bad! I hate unjustified criticism. Please wish me a speedy recovery, dear smith
From my limited experience doing competitive games, when you’re up against an amazing player and they have to pull out god-tier maneuvers just to _barely_ beat you, it doesn’t feel like a defeat at all. Its a compliment.
I cant believe all of this was played in a matter of seconds while we need 5 minutes to analyze whats goimg on. amazing
I thought I got baited hard and Huff was going to make the comeback. That last match though... Imagine he didn't get the lines. Would've been one of the first times Harry was right about the drop points counting that I've seen lol
ok
such an insane game, glad to see you covering it
12:41 yeah, that someday was rather closer than we ever thought it would be.
I love how detailed, engaging and understandable your commentary is.
i’m a modern tetris player - i’m way too used to today’s controls; i started playing tetris on my phone. for a long time i thought classic tetris was hella slow, but after learning how the mechanics differ from modern tetris (after losing a classic game in a very embarrassing fashion), i continue to be astounded at every classic tetris video i see. mfs have the patience of a saint
I love Tetris, hell, I’m even ok at it, but I will never get anywhere close to these people- they’re so incredibly good at Tetris it melts my brain
I get about as far as level 15 and then it just goes so fast for me. To me they must just know every movement to a T and plan ahead before the next piece falls.
I got tetris when I got a gameboy christmas '89,still playing that same cartridge but on a gameboy advance,so I don't go blind:)
I started on my phone too, absolutely loving Tetris Effect on Switch, it's all I am playing at the moment but I just got myself a NES and Tetris on it's way to me because I just want to get a first hand perspective of how it plays on original hardware and how I will NEVER be as talented as these guys!
Tetris on a phone sounds wrong to me...
To be honest, I feel that rolling brings more life to the game. I thought hypertapping was the end for people that physically can't tap that fast, but rolling is not only much easier on a physical level, it has even more potential than hypertapping. Of course, this does mean that in the future, this version of Tetris will start looking like the other nes Tetris where it's all about who can play for a few hours, but that will be awhile
Hello from the future and all you said was true and more
The amount of split-second decisions that top-level players have to make is astonishing. Videos like this that can break down the board at any given moment, analyze what the players have to work with, and detail what needs to be done in order to win are sincerely fascinating.
I didn't know there was a highly competitive Tetris scene but this video pulled me in and now I have respect for those players' innovation.
At this point, Scout should be an official commentator.
I used to wonder why people like watching sports so much but after hearing how enthusiastic this guy is with his commentary I understand the appeal now. This was very entertaining and I don't even know that much about NES Tetris.
Rolling will take over the competitive scene far slower than hypertapping did. That is because its competitive edge lays in deep 29 territory, whereas hypertapping has an immediate and huge advantage over DAS, even from the early game. Sure, you can stack even higher with rolling on 18 and 19 too, than you will with tapping, but unless you're Cheez going up against Dog, you most likely wouldn't want to. It is however, a great way for DAS players to get on par with tappers again.
If anything, rolling will make competition much closer, making it near damn impossible we'll see another 7 world title streak, ever again.
This shit is so funny to read lmao
It's amusing how bad of a take this was. It always hard to try and predict how the future will play out
This aged like a rotten milk
Lmao
I love your content man. Cuz of youtube recommendations I watched a vid of yours and now I bought a NES + C Tetris
absolutely incredible. great breakdown! that was insane
This was exhilarating commentary.
Dang out with another video, they just keep coming ! 😊 Great work!
I couldn't imagine playing Tetris often enough to get this good at it
It's crazy how in such a little time this came from being absolutely insane to fairly standard
i had no idea this community even existed until i saw this video, but i watched the whole thing. you explain everything so clearly! :)
Ok, this is such an intense match, you make a good commentator too, nice job
I love it when someone who knows more than me can give a super detailed breakdown of something to show just how impressive it was.
These videos make me smile so much :) thanks man.
Fantastic breakdown!! As almost a complete noob to Tetris, I feel like I managed to get most of what's going on.
The way you narrated this video as if it was a sports game made it so exciting to watch... I don't follow sports, neither play tetris, but watched the video to the end. Greta video!
Halfway through the video I started laughing because I realized how engrossed I was. Thank you for the wonderful explanations it made watching this even more exciting.
I have no fucking idea what's going on, but I'm hyped beyond believe. Over Tetris. What a wild evening...
I haven't heard of competitive Tetris before, and I'm actually pretty fascinated by its existence. This feels like the virtual equivalent of competitive chess, but more interesting.
Its unlike chess in every way
@@duscodick kinda is, because you're thinking quickly and picking your movements carefully and methodically, like with chess.
@@DJBSharpMusic I don’t think a measured turn based game where you actually play against someone is much like tetris where the competition is mostly just racing solo for max points. And the carefulness and method in tetris is largely mechanical skill and reflex and speed in determining position. Chess is about memorization and creativity. Tetris is more like rubix cube competitions.
@@duscodick okay, that's a fair analysis
This is a great play by play video. I don't play competitive NES Tetris, but I love following it, and having these concise commentary videos breaking down how sick a match was is just so entertaining. Nice job Scout as well as the players- Cheez and Huff.
“Playing B Type 29-3!” Awesome commentary Scout!
Amazing analysis of that match. I missed so I'm thankful that you made this video. Cheez is such a talent, it's increadible what he is able to achieve
I don't even play Tetris and for some reason I find your videos just fascinating.
Love your commentary it’s very entertaining
wow fantastic highlight!! 29-3 in an actual game, absolute madness. Great analysis!!
I understood very little of this but loved every moment! Good video bro! :D
Never ceases to amaze me when I find out about hobby groups and competitions that I never even knew existed.
it's usually so difficult to see every little detail, but you really helped to show the meaning behind every single move they made. great video, as always.
Sheeesh I didn’t know Tetris was this complicated. I have a newfound respect for pro Tetris players
I'm incredibly out of the loop when it comes to Tetris competitions but this was still one of the most exciting videos I'd seen in a while!
I don't know why the algorithm gave me this video but what a gift. Great video!
This was a really enjoyable watch, man. Great commentary, great video.
Watching videos like this makes me realize how much every hobby has its own jargon and why it's often so difficult to find and be accepted into new community, because people are just expected to know this very specific lingo...
Every culture has its own language that's just how it is. You can very easily look up a glossary but our brains are hardwired for language
You aren't expected to know the lingo. If you see something that interests you, check it out. Watch the same videos people on that group watch and you'll pick it up quick. Things like jargon are good because that comes about where there is alot of depth in a topic so the community needs to build it's own language to discuss it easily. For example in Tetris here, if you were immersed in it, you wouldn't want to describe how its each player holds the controller with a full paragraph each time, so you just say Hypertapped or Roller or w/e. Bigger para than I meant to type but the take away is just, watch the same stuff as people your interested in joining and the rest will come, dont put pressure on yourself or paint others unkindly from anxiety.
This is such a great story and great telling of it. I don't play Tetris but this video is amazing, keep up the good work!
When you think you're watching a 13 min highlight video of a 40 minute match. Instead you clicked on 3 minutes of gameplay on pause so you can listen to game scout to explain how Tetris works.
Was trying to find the balance of explaining just enough so that people who've never seen a tetris video before can at least understand what's going on. For the CTM recaps where it is expected that the viewer is already familiar with the scene I will skip most of that stuff
never watched competitive tetris in my life, but your narration made it interesting enough to watch the whole way through and subscribe
I love this video!!! Little suggestion to make videos like this easier to follow - you could try slightly darkening one half of the screen whenever you talk about a specific player in order to direct the eye to the correct side :) I loved this video and your commentary is incredible and engaging, but sometimes my eye had trouble quickly switching between which side to look at based on what name you said. Anyway, keep up the good work!!!
Thanks for the feedback, I’ll keep it in mind!
Cheese is my favorite player. I'm new to the tetris scene but he definitely has distinguished himself from the field of other great players. I started watching about 7 months ago during the finals tournament top 8. He didnt win but their was something special about him.
ok so basically Cheez plays Cheese mode mid-match & post-killscreen and still wins
This video is very well made, Im not that big into tetris but due to the insightful commentary and editing, I really enjoyed it! Ill check out some other vids of yours later.
Being "GameScouted" is to Tetris what being "Posterized" is to Basketball.

Not too long ago those trolls were calling the END of CLASSIC TETRIS because of the hypertapping madNES. HA! GO CHEEZ!!!! Goof Troop 4 Life!
I haven't played Tetris in awhile, but I had NO idea certain levels gave more points for a Tetris. Great video bc it kept me on the edge of my seat. 💯
i cant believe all those pieces were happening in fractions of a second
You really do a very good job to explain us all the details to know to understand well how works tetris.
For most of the people it s just a video game very simple, and they just know a few things about it that everybody knows.
But because of you, we can now understand it so much better, and it become so more fun to watch with all these informations.
