The ONLY other thing this remake could have done to make it seem more "Genesis-y" would be to recreate all the act 2 boss badniks as eggman ships/robots. Otherwise, this remake is perfect.

Nack still technically is one of his official names, it’s a bit of an Eggman/Robotnik situation where his name was changed to Nack the Weasel when originally bringing him to the west (partially because they didn’t want a reference to firearms in his name), but later doing away with the alternate name in favor of Fang the Sniper, what he was originally called.
Honestly, I disliked the final boss design as it felt so underwhelming. I did not know that it was based on a design by Sega itself. I am still not a fan of it but I don't hold that against the developers and I praise their use of an abandoned design for a Sonic game. Maybe some what fan fic-ish, but hey, they were fans who were making this game.
