I’m honored you’ve mentioned me! Lol! I wasn’t looking for beef with you; I was just stating an opinion - and maybe I was defending Demachy 😂 I appreciate you very much, my dear friend. And I understand what you’re saying, and I agree.
Le lion is a exquisite exotic Ambery love fragrance and a little touch of animalic it feel like being in the middle of a dessert with burns wood and then you are cocking some vanilla and white chocolate or even some spices in there and the ashes mixing with sand giving a powdery sandy effect even have this feeling like sand in your nose of the loud of the perfume is but in a good way and then the aura of cuir de russie appears that animalic smoke
Le Lion is still my second favorite from the les exclusif. On my skin it’s quite loud and it really does take my by surprise. It’s nothing like anything Chanel has ever put out. So I’m sure a lot of thought and work has been put into creating this fragrance. Merry Christmas so glad I discovered your channel.
Have to agree with the Dior of today.
Undoing Polge’s Homme illustrates your point.
Thanks for answering my question. I agree with your points on this topic. The reason i asked is because based on the notes and some of the descriptions from reviewers despite not identifying or recognizing it as such plus the fact that they released it in the middle East first , I expect it to a high degree of confidence that it would give that smoky oud/ mamoul/ incense used in the middle East. That smells different from the normal incense stick or the natural oud oil .
Translating one Arabic comment on fragrantica on le lion "smells like frankincense plus the smell of a baby after you apply some powder and oud oil on him" I'm sure it will smell better than that once I try it . No one implied to that person that it's an Arabic fragrance nor did it have an oud in the title yet she got that description out of it .
Finally got around to grabbing it after patiently waiting for a deal. 200 mL for under the old retail so I’m very excited. You and Persolaise were both so overwhelmingly positive about Le Lion it made me go to a Chanel boutique to try it. Can’t wait to wear more regularly.
I blind bought this last night. Can’t wait to get it! I love your clean cut hair and beard btw.
Le Lion has more longevity than Coromandel as I’ve worn it to work a handful of times since July or so... As for projection im not sure, Coromandel is a monster. Laudanum, eh... Interesting, I’ll study some more.
Love both reviews. Love your views about Chanel. Chanel fanboys will welcome these reviews. Looking forward to Le Lion.
I really appreciate your work you do on your channel! You are by far the best reviewer.
Even though I see you more as a perfume professional than a reviewer. Keep up the good work.
Best regards from Germany.
Got the big bottle! Irresistible. Sometimes it smells of steamed wool sometimes as wax seal. Fascinating.
Merry Christmas Eugene. I share the majority of your reflections on Le Lion and thinks it’s a wonderful complex and mesmerising masculine scent. However I don’t see it as an oud scent although I get a lot of frankincense and smoke. In Nuit de Feu I find oud in the opening and in The Night all way through even to the base, but not here. Actually I find it even impressive Chanel had the guts to go their own way, and doing so with flying colors. Comparing to Coromandel, I feel Le Lion has more transitions and dimensions, although I can see some similarities between the two. Off topic, I’m so happy to have found your channel. Keep up your excellent work!
Merry Christmas E wishing you the very Best in 2021 much love from Ireland and from another Chanel Bonkers fan ...
Those elixir precieux are just the base ingredients that go in the prive bottles. If you combine the amber and rose one, you get ambre nuit
Couldn’t agree more Eugen. Le lion was a blind buy for me and I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoy it immensely. It will now join Coromandel, Sycomore, & Boy in my ever growing collection.
Thats true eugen I rarely find oud smell in any western perfume that mentions oud as an ingredient.
Haha love it..Eugene acknowledges his dumping of Dior has upset some people in his last video but then digs them out again on this one..brilliant stick to your guns buddy..i totally agree with you also that Dior are still dining out on the magnificent Dior homme which was when...2006 ? Although eau sauvage is a beautiful perfume too
Absolutely agree! Chanel rulez! :D I had to get 2 bottles of Le Lion. It's amazing
Love your review, the year seems to be treating you well. Such poise.
Have to agree with your assessment that Chanel is leading and not being led by corporate as is Dior. A shame really because Dior has a brilliant fashion director in Maria Grazia Chiuri. Dior was my house for years but I just want to shake them out of mediocrity. As far as "real oud" in so called Western Ouds, I suspect there are undetectable microscopic amounts of real oud in many fragrances but the oud scent is being tricked out with smoke etc....
Dior does have a direction and that direction is CHINA and MONEY.
Definitely not real oud in western perfumery. I own about fifteen 3ml real oud bottles from Ensar Oud both wild and organic and they absolutely DO NOT smell like the synthetic garbage used in any of the niche and designer fragrances. It would be totally expensive to mass produce fragrances using real oud due to the scarcity of the ingredient. Anyways, I am disappointed with Dior’s weak releases, they’re so boring and uninspired. I recently got into Chanel and I’m pretty excited about they’re fragrances, La Pausa being my absolute favorite. I have a sample of Le lion coming in soon and I can’t wait! Great review btw.
Not sure if you did a review of the 2020 Jicky , but if you haven't , would you consider it.
_Merry Christmas_
Dior sucks. Your ego was correct! Trust me Eugene you have very good taste. I know you guys don’t care for me but that ok. I understand why with the way I behaved over my creation espresso Royale.
I would love to see a more detailed talk about perfumers like Ellena, Polge or Duchaufour. Maybe with guest appearances from Kharrar or Kristo. Never heard from Kharrar again. The videos you did with him and Kristo are my favorite fragrance videos on UA-cam.
“I’m not mad” “You may be that’s fine” lol. Le lion is strong as fuck I think. I said to myself the first time I wore it that it almost feels like there’s oud in it. More like a agarwood like in agar ebene but stronger. Closet thing will probably get to a oud based Chanel.
Copped this at the Chanel Boutique on Ave Montaigne a day ago after watching your initial review, its amazing! I too sense some oud in there! Also copped some Cuir de Russie which instantly made me think of Guerlain’s Musc Noble as an impressionist of CdR.
Lookin good Eugene.
Go ahead and rip Dior a new one. We support you. Chanel is telling a story. Dior are creating the Cliff Notes. Merry Holidays to you and yours, Eugene!!
I just sampled Gucci The Eyes of the Tiger for the first time. The similarities with Le Lion are striking. It seems to me a more masculine Le Lion. There's something mysteriously feminine about Le Lion to my nose.
Happy birthday!!! ❤️
Xmas miracle! I tend to disagree with you lately, but everything you mentioned about Chanel versus Dior is truth of mine as well.
I agree Dior's new releases are uninspired and boring. Did you get an Amber Absolute vibe with Le Lion?
just caught this one thanks Eugene very interesting
Eugene do a Aqua Di Gio christmas edition and top 10 panty dropers cuddling winter scents most complimented
I still feel this is more of a Sheldrake creation...
👀
@@RichMitch What do you think?
@@stephanthienel I haven't smelled it yet but it wouldn't surprise me. This sounds like his style and I know it well. I'll be able to give a better opinion once I've smelled them. Disclaimer: he's my favourite perfumer 😂
@@RichMitch I know he is your favorite perfumer so that‘s why I asked ;) You got something to look forward to👌🏼
@@stephanthienel how do you know?! 🧐😂
I am looking forward to it. Not sure when I'll be getting it though, not immediately
Merry christmas eugen! Honestly, you dont have to explain your love for chanel. If they dont like what you said and are not open to critique their belief, then they can watch someone else ;-)
Love this meta review !
Don Eugenius, forgive me for my intrusion, but if I may make a video idea request. I’d appreciate your opinions on an overview thoughts of the Hermès Un Jardin line so far. The cold is upon us, this I know, but spring & summer couldn’t come sooner for me. Respect to you & yours.
Merry Christmas Eugene
Wait, you can send fanmail? :D
Merry Christmas mr. Eugene!
I agree with you 💯 Dior is sinking and so is Tom Ford. He has discontinued a couple of hot sellers and created this new launch of the Peach scent that left a lot of TF fans disappointed. Chanel is always ahead of the game in the exclusive line. But their regular common collection not so much. The exclusive collection is lit 🔥 definitely going to buy the Le Leon and Coromondal
I maintain that Eugen is the best fragrance reviewer on UA-cam.
mens, womens or unisex?
Merry Christmas
miss something like Galop vs Rose & Cuir?

How does the wife like Le Lion?
Dior as a brand is a mess. Take a look at the dog shit they send down the catwalk if you ever want a laugh.
Alot of bal bal bal
Man come to the point, you're reviewing Le Lion, but talking about hundred of others fragrances and reviewing those.
Lovely 😍💋 💝💖❤️
