Today is a full review of Chanel Le Lion. My thoughts have changed since first smelling Le Lion on camera a week ago. I ABSOLUTELY love Le Lion, yes it does smell similar to coromandel, but this has a strong frankincense smell to it, absolutely classy amazing smell!!

The more I wear it, the more I love it. Since I'm a night owl, it's very easy to wear for me because it's cold out and my clothing styles makes Le Lion a great accessory

I think Le lion is easier to wear than Coromandel, but I still love Coromandel more 👌🏼
I recently got a bottle of The Eyes of the Tiger, been wearing it a few times and then went to the Chanel boutique to try Le Lion and it was the first thing i thought of! Not identical but pretty similar! :) Thx for the review!
To me it’s not really all that similar to coromandel. And again to me, it doesn’t really change all that much, a bit of citrus in the opening and quickly becomes a sharp smoky incense for the remainder of its life, with some slightly sweet amber in the base

I need to try it again (I only tried from the boutique in LA) but I found to be a mix of the scents you describe (I also get Cuir de Russie somehow) almost like three scents dumped in a bottle instead of creating its own, unique impression. That's not necessary a bad thing because I like all them. I do want to wear it a few more times.
It's become a fave. Loving it and yes I do get Cuir De Russie as well! :)
I’m wearing today a sampler ... for me yes the lemon splash at first was delicious then incense resinous feeling vanilla for me was vanilla with white chocolate feeling a little bit like Dior homme intense with shalimar a little bit of the dry down gentlemen from givenchy cuir de russie of course that leathery animalic smoky omg is a love for me I can wear this all day long no challenging for... need to try coromandel thank you
Would you add Dior’s Cuir Cannage as an alternative? They smell similar to me in some ways.
I absolutely LOVE Coromandel, so when I initially heard Le Lion was similar, I didn’t think twice about pre-ordering it on the Chanel website. Boy....was that a big mistake! Le Lion smells NOTHING like my precious Coromandel. I really tried giving it a chance, but it was just too animatic, too smokey and too masculine for me to keep. Sadly, it’s on its way back to Chanel. This one definitely needs to be sampled first as it is NOT a safe blind buy at all. I knew I should have never tried straying away from my Coromandel....She is and will always remain the reigning QUEEN!!

Wearing in sunny Australian weather, not hot but summer weather... 10 hours +
I'm in love, just a sample but it just kept projecting over and over, amber, leather, wood, wheat/ cereal or something, I dunno, sweet but mature and classy, it's layered and I feel it's quite versatile, I think it suits me, I think it's great for a guy, it's masculine but sweet, for a woman, maybe good for an older women, 40+ because there's a mature woodyness...
The performance was soo good I need a full bottle, I think it will make an amazing summer night frag in dark sexy clothes! But all day as well during spring/ winter/ fall
Can't believe Dyptique's Benjoin Boheme didn't make the list. The two definitely remind me of one another. Two sensational fragrances!
I don’t get leather from Banjoin Boheme but I get loads of leather and smoke from Le Lion. 😄

I was pretty disappointed with my purchase in January but now I do rediscover Le Lion with a brighter warmer weather and enjoy it a lot. Like Habanita I would recommend a less is more attitude. Wear it like a pure perfume. It's comforting, has a real personality. A very good release in Les Exclusifs range. Le Lion will be perfect for me most of the year but I find Molinard Ambré lumière with joy when it's snowing and freezing.

I like your explanation of the opening, it is so hard to describe! I couldn't figure out what I was smelling. I am glad I waited for the heart and the dry down because that is when I fell in love. I get a lot of leather and labdanum in the heart and sweet myrrh and cinnamon in the dry down. I agree it is slightly animalic but I like fragrances that feel lived in. Did you get a medicinal (almost band-aid) like smell? Maybe it is the leather?
I do get something slightly chalky and band aidy as well. Might be the resins! :)

I don't know how but I smell cream brulee at the dry down and it's heavenly to me 😇 I love it!
Never tried le lion but I have Coromandel and Cuir de Russi it's really fantastic scents
Cuir de Russie is a masterpiece

They are just a little similar in their dry down a little. I love Le Lion ,it doesn't go too animalic on me. I definitely get leather a lot. Not sure if the medicinal patchouli is playing tricks with labdanum and Amber.
Fantastic review Sebastian! I agree 100%. Difficult to wear but it grew on me the more I wore it.
Beautiful opening and dry down.
I don't like Oriental fragrances, but Chanel's take on it is blended so well.

This one is definitely not for me. So heavy on labdanum smoke and spice that I can not take it.
Really liked this but sometimes I wonder if it dosen't smell like a rental car or just wet wool...
