I tried this on my Harley today, but had to go next door to get my coin back :-0
Nice one Derek! I can’t believe you haven’t tried this on your ‘wing??
lol
@@TheMissendenFlyer I could do that and it would double it's value, a great investment in the ShedWing :-0
🙈😁
That was a good ONE !!!! My good friend has one and boy, that thing shakes like a Mother F. I don't even know how he can even view the side mirrors LOL. He always says that the HD is = to a Milkshake. Bring the milk and you got a shake. And, he still ride that wagon.
I’ve said it before and here it is again .... “we really will watch anything “. Keep them coming. You’re saving us. 👍
Deal!
It is a very sad state of affairs when the highlight of my day has been watching a pound coin on the seat of a motorbike. Please set me free and let me ride!!!!!!☹️
I share your pain!
With you there Mike, hopefully not much longer now 🤞
Somebody give this lad something to ride, he is bored out of his missenden flyers mind.
...is it that obvious? ;0)
@@TheMissendenFlyer Yes, I was about to comment the same, (same as us all Lockdown cabin fever)
aren't we all? :)
@@TheMissendenFlyer If you are that bored, you can insulate the garage doors and close off that loft hatch opening - Then you would be a lot warmer out there 😎
Yeah, I did this test with a nickel on the engine of my 2008 GL1800 (when I owned it, ride a R1200RT now). Stood proud, never fell over. They truly are ultra smooth! Cheers Andy!
Right on!
As a “new to me” 08 GL1800 owner, I need to go through your videos with the lens of both a Honda and Harley owner now. Good stuff here
Welcome along and thanks!
You’re a similar age to myself, the old BMW 6cyl advert was one that amazed me as a youngster.
Love that last clip on the GS, great outtake and honesty.
You can tell BMW UK that my new to me 65 plate GS TE, being purchased approved used, has a hell of a lot to do with your channel.
Stay well and look forward to seeing more videos ahead.
Glad you enjoyed it - stay tuned, lots more to come!
Gorgeous Gold Wing. Indeed the legendary Gold Wing engine is renowned for it’s smoothness. You keep your rides looking in tip top shape. Well done.
Thanks - I try too - not that always that easy in dreary old England!
Most reliable yet it has smoothest engine i’ve ever seen. I loved Honda
My HD Fat Bob used to shake my gloves off the seat - loved it, felt like it was alive 😃
LMAO... If Mrs Flyer finds out what you are really doing in there, you know she'll find something round the house for you to be doing.
Don't worry about that, I do my fair share.....
TMF is waiting for his ride on vacuum cleaner to arrive. Some say he is suffering from a slight amount of cabin fever, completely understandable.
If id try to balance a coin on my rigid mount Harley Sportster 1200 id never find that coin again :D
Yep, the personality would throw the coin right off! 🤣
I love it LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
@@ashleyreynolds6604 probably suck it up the air intake/filter and shoot it to the next county with a proper carb fart :D
A Scotsman would find it !
Get it right , Diamonique no less. So I've been told! Funny though to watch. See if you can get hold of the old Pearl and Dean credits, now that would be funny. Keep them coming non the less. Rob.
I don’t know who needs more help to be honest.....you for posting this or me for watching and ticking the thumbs up button 👍
Where are my sanity pills ?.... the Marquis of Boris rules are getting to everyone it seems.
“No expense spared!” So you’re saying, if we want the birds to flock to us, we need to part with some quid? What’s a quid? 🧐🤣
I love your Goldwing. I’m soon to be new to biking (hopefully this year I’ll do the direct access week) and would love a Goldwing. I’d need to get a couple of years under my belt on an NC750x first but with no intention of knee down riding, just eating up long distance journey mileage, it’d fit the bill 👌🏻
Love your videos TMF. You are the main source of my want to get on 2 wheels 🏍
Well that's great to hear - thank you!
Summer of 75 a friend couldn't wait to show me how he could balance a Nickel on it's edge, perched on the cylinder head, while the engine was running, with the bike on it's side stand. Found out later this was a popular demonstration in Honda showrooms everywhere.
Andy you take enthusiasm to the next level ! Lend us a fiver
I’ve only got £3
You found a use for actual coins. I haven't used one as money since first lockdown, a year ago today.
The Suzuki RE5 was incredibly smooth. We once balanced a 50p piece on the petrol tank and revved the bike up and down and it never moved.
I'd love it if Honda made a bare bones sub 500 lbs non-luxury motorcycle with a 650-900cc version of this engine! I'd absolutely buy one.
We used to do that test with a nickel balanced on the engine of the previous generation Goldwing. I never tried it on the seat. Heading out to the garage now to replicate your test.
I found the lacquer on the engine to slippery to balance the coin!!
@@TheMissendenFlyer I will try a small piece of gaffer tape on the engine to see if I can get it to stick.
That would be cheating!
Pretty much trapped inside due to covid. Can't go out to do anything. Your content is keeping me going, thanks!
Glad to hear it! Cheers Sam....we'll be free again soon! (ish)
So glad I stuck around to the very end!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Few do and that's where all the rewards lay!
Brilliant 👌 Thanks for cheering us up Andy 😂 Bar now set....Chopsie.....roll the intros 🎥 😜
Glad you enjoyed it....I can't compete with Mavis, so wish I'd come up with that....
Thank heavens for the flyer in these trying times, what a machine.Keep these coming please.
I'll do my best! Roll-on summer and some freedom eh to ride eh?!
Can't believe I watched this. Cant believe I enjoyed it. Loved the outtakes at the end. Who knew the GS is as smooth as a Goldwing. I think cabin fever has finally got to me. Help!!
You and me both!
Ming the merciless springs to mind with the wing like top. Take care Andy.
You say that like it's a bad thing?!
You couldn’t stand a brick up on my old 1150gs never mind a pound coin . However like you always say , it’s character! And your totally correct .
I still ride an 1150GS and smooth it is not, but I do love the feeling when it shakes and rumbles to life!
@@Domitianvs your completely correct I used to love it when stopped at traffic lights etc , that unmistakable slight wobble from side to side . Did Argentina to Alaska , then New York 28,000 miles in 7 months , never let me down once . I do miss that bike for sure .
@@Domitianvs I ride an 1150GS too
I've done this coin test on my own 2018 Goldwing but I never made a video about it, great idea!!!!
I just thought it would be a quick fun thing.....
Well thats it then. There is nothing left to watch on the internet. I went from watching interesting and informative videos to some guy I never met balancing pocket change on a motorcycle.
Anybody want to buy a used computer?
First of all, love your work.
Noticed your garage door was closed while doing this coin balance test. When starting a bike in your garage, please do open the garage door to let the fumes out, you don't want to asphyxiate on CO fumes!
Indeed - I got away with it though it seems.
I witnessed the coin trick in person played on a Honda CB350four back in the early 1970's with a Canadian square edged nickel (5 cent coin) balanced on the engine case.
I'm going to step out on a limb here and say that all of Honda's straight 4's, 6's and flat 4's and 6's are the smoothest and most reliable (bar none) engines ever built for a motorcycle.
Although I'm currently riding a new GoldWing I have had the pleasure to own 2 over the last 10 years.
Yes I have no evidence to counter your claim...although maybe Allen Millyard will be along soon.....
This was the quality UA-cam content I've been waiting for. 👍🏻
Glad you liked it!
2013 f6b owne here, you can do that with a Canadian nickel on the engine itself and full revs.
Thats a party trick I can do on my 1999 Valkyrie, Andy , I do put it on the top of the cylinder head but theres more space on the old Valkyrie..
Great demo Andy. Only suggestion would be to have used a Canadian $1 or $2 coin as well. We call them Loonies and Toonies! I think OZ has similar coinage. I might buy your waistcoat. Cheers.
If you do, wear it with caution!
smoootttthhhhh operator!!! looking forward to the arrival of cat nip!! 👍👍👍
You @TheMissendenFlyer need to make a garage show and tell video, including the security gate
I’ve shown the Guardsman (that security gate) so many times! Links in the description!
Take heed people on TMF's warning about the merch. I have the TMF T-shirt and it is an absolute chick magnet. Don't use with caution, rather use with extreme caution. :-)
I think in my last reply I said better than nothing to watch at all and I think this is the same ! Shameful merch plugging though ! But it's a watch so thankyou for sharing. Thumbs up on the basis at least you went to the effort of keeping us entertained (mmm) for 7 minutes
Crikey, try not to overdo the compliments!
Can't wait for the paper plane reviews. :D
Stay tuned!
Was that the 5th or 6th pint you put away when you decided to do that coin test! Quality lockdown entertainment! 🤣😂
That £3 is all he’s got left after buying the Goldwing 🙄
You're not far wrong there Ary!
I know what I’m thinking. The test is not in starting the engine with the torque involved or sitting the coin on a cushioned seat. The coin needs to be placed on the engine when running. 30y back I could stand a coin on my Range Rover 3.5 petrol V8 engine and subsequently on a few of my SD1’s again, with the same engine type.
What can I say. He he he to the coin test it just made me smile. Keep it up!.Terry from Sutton coldfield.
Cheers Terry - glad you enjoyed it!
The outtakes were brilliant love that you put them in 😂 I think most people realise the amount of takes even shorter videos take
Glad you enjoy them!
What a proud Goldwing-Owner! 😉😜
My Dyna will make a can of tuna fall over. Love it!
When I bought my brand new first Goldwing the salesman did that bit. Stood a Quarter on a flat spot between the cylinders on the engine , cranked it up, raised the idle, and up to 2500rpm it just stood there. Higher it started dancing around then finally fell over at 2700. That was 1980 on a GL1000. dinky die, struth!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍/10
On my old Harley even I could barely manage to remain upright on the seat!
Did the quarter on the Honda Goldwing engine in 1984 at Americade in Lake George, NY at the Honda Goldwing test drives.
good to see you try the trick, didn't think you would do a full video on it :)
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@TheMissendenFlyer very enjoyable 👍
Bought a brand new Goldwing? Good on you for still having a coin left to balance!
I had to borrow them from next door.....
PS It's second hand......
I think it’s the Royal Enfield 500 single 😜 the three ton bulk of the Gold Wing helps, the CBX1000 six cylinder was quite smooth too.
A nice advert for the new gear dressed up as a bike video.....very sharp..!
You rumbled me Andy!!! It was just a bit of fun bonus video......
@@TheMissendenFlyer A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do! There are no free lunches any more...unless you're on furlough that is! 😁
Starting my Guzzi that coin would have your eye out . 😂😂😂😁🇬🇧🏍❤️
Great fun video, and loved the George Cluny quote
There was a George Clooney quote?
@@TheMissendenFlyer something about George covered in smooth chocolate and wearing a velvet jacket. Well beyond my imagination.
I cant believe the way the Honda starts. There is no "crank" time its just seams to be running the minute you hit the button
Sounds like one of those "shotgun" starters
Yes it has some sort of clever starter come generator thing.....it is a bit special apparently...
@@TheMissendenFlyer I’ve have noticed it before on Honda hybrid cars. It maybe similar tech as I believe the starter motor is used for reverse on the g’wing.
The dollar test made me feel better, thank you...
BMW did that with their 3 litre straight 6 diesel. You get primary and secondary balance in a 6 pot engine without having to do anything.
my bandit would shake me off let alone a coin lol
Brilliant andy!! Well enjoyed 👍
Thanks 👍
The madness has taken its toll, like all of us TMF you need the open road😂
You're dead right there George!
That was way to exciting. I really appreciate the bone you tossed to us Americans.
I don't think I realized you offered base layers. I need to visit the ecommerce page.
Check it our RR - but be careful, you'll be a babe magnet in them....you have been warned!
As an American, I appreciate the test with the dollar, 😆.
Brilliant Tmf good fun .thanks from Danny
Cheers Danny!
Should compare the BMW KT1600. Straight 6s are supposed to be the best balanced.
Have you got one at hand I can borrow??
@@TheMissendenFlyer I wish
@@TheMissendenFlyer Question: why didn't you buy a BMW 1600?
BMW apparently balanced a 50p coin on the rocker cover of their straight six engine in the 80s. I couldn't do it with my 325i.
You could use blue tak on the £2 coin, stick it to the seat of my 1290 Super Adventure and it would still fall over when you started it up 😂.
you never could do that with a Euro........ That's why i love the UK! Greetings from Germany!
Greetings Jurgen!
I'm impressed, nearly, just waiting on the sawing it in half video to complete the act ;)
Thanks for posting. And for his next trick "seven virgins and a mule all standing on a stool" (Karl Evil 9 - Emerson, Lake, & Palmer)
Used to balance coins on the running engine of a Rover Sterling 825/827 V6 back in the 80s. It was a Honda engine though
The inner workings of your mind that brought us the George Clooney analogy...!! Made me feel a little queazy I must say. All good fun though, ta
Winter + pandemic = crazy motorcycle science 🤪
You’re right there!
I think you've had your bike engines running too long in the garage with the door closed .. still.. made me chuckle .. and .. The GS test provided a splendid view of the Chimaera :)
Did you notice the exhaust nearly blew that picture off the door?
@@TheMissendenFlyer I didn't .. but I have just checked and you need some stronger tape .. If that was your one.. I've just checked and it's still on the road .. :)
Bad times.... lockdown has got to even the best... first he bought a planet rotation-realignment instrument and now this...
Sorry Phill...
Andy only you could make balancing coins on bike seat interesting, great content as always
Role on March when I get my new Triumph Street triple 765 RS never had a Triumph but your reviews have turned me to getting one thanks👍
Ooh exciting times Dave - Congrats and enjoy!
I did the same with my zzr1400.....although it was a £5 note stuck to the tank with blue tac 😉
Clearly pissed bud or f@#king bored. "Cat nip" brilliant. Keep them coming
Amazing technology and engine construction... I drive a Royal Enfield Bullet and no way a coin could Ballance on any part of the motorcycle.... 😊. I think he Honda and Royal Enfield are miles apart... But I lovey Royal Enfield...it's like a living thing. Thanks for the video.
Bye Stuart 🙂
Cheers Stuart!
I think u r going crazy in lockdown Andy. Fun to watch tho
I think you may be right.....
Not to be out done, the mighty boxer stands up to the test. Lol
Yes who would have thought!! ....and thanks for watching to the bitter end!
A new segment TMFs magic tricks.
Lovely bike, did you compare the gold wing to the K1600gtl? Is the BMW more performance oriented? Cheers Tim
Ridden both but not done a comparison video as yet - the K1600gtl is lovely but feels so heavy at slow speeds....felt I was going to drop it all the time. If anything I'd say the Honda feels more sporty (but I am biased now)....
What can I say . . . You need a programme on TV! 😁 Come on BBC / ITV . . . sign him up!
Nah thanks - sounds too much like hard work - I'm enjoying "retirement" too much! But thanks for the compliment....
I'm ROFLMAO ! and with so many nice bikes, I'm amazed you still have a spare £2 :-D
I had to borrow it from next door.....
@@TheMissendenFlyer ahhh :-D
Awesome ... That's just too funny! Thanks TMF! :)
Glad you enjoyed it
My Motto Guzzi pays ping-pong with the coin...back and forth 😆
Hahahaa. Love your vids. Putting the coin aside, that’s a sweet sound engine. Better than the 1600GT?
I prefer it for sure.....
Now that is bloody impressive, to be able to see the 2 pound coin just chilling there "is that all you've got" hahaha!
Yeah, quite impressive isn't it.....
For next week balancing the gold wing on a £1 coin, i can’t buy any merch
i have a job to keep the women of me as it is 🙄 cheers Andy great scientific test
Keep up the good work, terry 👍🏍
Nice one Terry - I share your pain - stay safe!
Getting a little “stir crazy” because of winter are we?! It gave me a good laugh so well done. And btw - we do have dollar coins in the US, get some on your next trip to the US. I still appreciate the gesture anyway! Be well.
....yes there is a bit of that for sure - and it just struck me as amusing putting a note on the bike rather than a coin...thanks for watching!
I just love reading the comments, some of them are so funny, bugger all on TV made my evening. 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it! I must admit I do enjoy the comments section myself!
Nice bit of fresh petrol aroma to add to the mix ... luvly.
Had to go out and try it on the trusty Africa Twin - and was amazed to see that it passed the £2 coin test! We are all going a bit mad with this lock-down malarky!!!
I need proof!!
The contour and material of the BMW seat is not identical to the Gold Wing. That could have affected the test. It took a very long time to get the coin balanced on the BMW.
Yes well I'm not too sure the overall set-up was too scientific - just an excuse for something to do this afternoon!!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Are you a Private Pilot? Ratings?
thanks for cheering me up on a miserable lockdown day 👍🏻😁 priceless 💥👊🏻
Love the dollar. So glad you kept everything fair. I would have never known had you not tried. 😁
The idea tickled me!
Motorcycle mechanics mag did this back in the 80’s on a VT250f
