We were not expecting this!

Visiting historic places is one of our favourite things to do - wondering about the people who lived in these places so many years before. So we enjoyed discovering some history in towns and cars in the quaint village of Sofala whilst camping off-grid in an idyllic spot. But then something happens that left us a bit shaken!

Sofala is an interesting place and where you were camped is where the gold dredge worked, which could explain the rock walls. The Black bucket things on the monument are the remains of the chain of buckets which the dredge used to pickup the river gravels for processing.
