I like the differences of your channel and the art and creativity you bring. Some people need to understand that each channel has their own unique style, brand, ideas, personality. You both are so talented and creative. Keep up the great work with your retreats and videos. 😊 The lamps look great!
I love the differences with your channel because quite frankly there is only so much rock moving, wall cleaning, re-wallpapering etc that I can bare to watch! Please do not feel that you need to "explain" yourselves to the negative people. I am quite sure that most of your regular followers totally get what your channel is all about. I have watched you guys even before you brought your chateau! I used to wonder to myself, when you were at Stephanie's (why don't Steve and Sarah get a chateau or manor of their own??} hehehe obviously you guys had your idea all along.
Those who have watched from the start know that you are creators who want to help others become more creative. You host people who are there for workshops in the arts to develop their creativity. Otherwise, you show a bit of the general updates and matenance of the chateau.
I’ve been watching and enjoying all your vlogs since you started. Your creative approach to your new life in France has been a real treat to witness. You two just keep being you because it works really well. Your genuine and authentic personalities are endearing and I personally don’t need you to change or explain what is already obvious! Much love to you both from New Zealand and appreciation for sharing your adventures and creativity with us.😊
That was an excellent explanation of how Manor & Maker flows. Behind the scenes & all the other stuff. You are both, after dipping in to your lives, lovely folk. Thank you for sharing your times. XX
I watch a fair few vlogs on Château restoration on UA-cam. I have 4 favourites. Journey to the Château , Château Diaries, Château Love and Manor and Maker. I love the DIY, the challenges that that brings. But mainly, I enjoy seeing the different life styles that you all have. I love seeing the workshops, the brocantes, the set tables, the parties, relationships. This is so far removed from my own life, I love to dip in to someone elses. It seems to be happening more and more to all you vloggers, negative comments. Try to float over them and concentrate on the subscribers who love your restoration and lifestyle. So there!!!!!!! 😊Greetings from the UK
Your creativity is what draws me to your channel and makes it stand out amongst all the rest. It makes me happy when I see a new video or Patreon post (speaking of which, a Patreon link in your description would be handy). As a fellow maker, I appreciate seeing what you're up to in the way of the arts and mixed media you have going on at your château. Keep doing what you love, and we'll keep loving what you do.
I just wanted to say that I just enjoy your journey. I am in my early 70’s and have mobility issues and because of your channel and those of your friends l am able to see and experience things I normally would not be able to do. So I am so thankful of what you and some of the other channels do. Without you I wouldn’t be able to experience or see that part of the world and see something I really enjoy. Thank you so much for what you and the others do. I really look forward to your channels some daily and weekly.
Great explanation for the uninitiated. I love the variety of your creative retreats, and the fact that you’re not exactly like all of the other chateau. And I’m sure your repeat guests, like your viewers, love seeing how things change as you gradually make the space your own. ♥️♥️♥️ You two are awesome!
You are doing great! I am not artistic. I love seeing the creative people, yourselves included, in your vlogs. I am enjoying your newsletter, too! We are so lucky, in that there are so many different UA-cam channels out there. I am retired, and even I can't watch them all! Each is as different as the chateaux and the owners themselves. You just keep being you and be true to your journey! I strongly feel that this honesty is what makes for success.
You both keep on doing what you need to do to be able to show us your experiences. I think you're very talented and so creative. Thank you for taking us with you on your journey.
DIY is nice, but you guys are about so much more!!🙏🏻😊Your creative journey is very close to my heart ❤I worked for 20 years at an Artists and Writers Residency Program where I was honored to meet and host artists from all over the world. What you, and the folks at Puy Vidal, are doing is incredibly exciting and creative. I thank you for sharing ALL your ideas, adventures, artistic experimentation and discoveries 😊 much fun. I'd love to join you at one of your retreats, but it seemsI'm at the age of joining you on UA-cam rather than traveling to France. Admiration, appreciation, affection and applause from a fan in Vermont,USA ❤❤
I love your content. I’ve been a working artisan making a line of jewelry for the past 35 years. Being exposed to different skills is exciting. Your retreats are on my bucket list.
I for one adore what your brand is! As a "crafty" person who loves DIY, renovations, chateaus, creative people, learning opportunities to expand my creativity, meeting interesting people who love to meet and greet etc. This is my wheelhouse. Top that with awesome hosts to ensure a wonderful place to stay, delicious food, fun and adventure, it equals a wonderful experience! If I was a mobile person I would be there in a heartbeat, especially because I adore you guys! I am so appreciative that you share your videos so people like me can live vicariously and feel like a part of the fun.
It's very nice of you to take the time to explain your vision to a few confused people, but part of me is sad that you felt you had to. I don't like to think of you guys bothered by it. I always thought of your channel as Making things in a beautiful Manor. We've been exposed to different types of art and creativity and it's joyful! It's not a chateau reno show. Lord knows, we subscribe to those too! 😆 keep on doing you! Hugs!
Hi Sara and Steve, El’s art work is just amazing . I know we can’t appreciate it enough by just seeing it on the vlog but I’m with Steve the clothes line and the movement it shows them drying in the wind. I love love love it.😘🇨🇮
Hi Sara & Stephen, I always got what Manor & Maker was all about, but I've seen enough chateau renovation vlogs. Don't get me wong, I've learned a lot from them, but your channel is truly a breath of fresh air. Keep up what you do best, bringing creative people to share their talents with all of us. Mark & Scott
Love the path you have created....as a fellow Canadian i hope, in time, to find my inner geek and partake in the future. You are both so creative and welcoming i believe in your success 💓
Geeky is not unusual or unsafe. You sweet people who welcome everyone keep me coming back. Artistry and creativity is always interesting. Will continue to view as you both are so cute…❤
I get what you two do at the Manor and I always enjoy watching your videos. Love the way you covered the lampshade, Sarah. What fun working with all those beautiful lamps!
😊 I enjoy your vlogs..whether you are painting, wall papering, getting married, entertaining, traveling..WHAT EVER!! You seem like nice caring people who want to share the fun of your chateau whether it is with real guests..or just us lookie loo's!! Thank you.😊
I’ve been following since you were at LaLande waiting for the closing of the purchase of your lovely chateau. Variety is the spice of life, as they say and the variety of things you do is interesting. Makers are fascinating, Keep up the good work.😊
Oh, my, I do so much admire anyone who has artistic talent. I have absolutely none whatsoever… my horses always look like pigs. This lady’s artistic ability is so unique and clever, I just love it. Thank you for sharing it with me. I also enjoy your artistic ability, Steve, and Sarah you, of course have many talents. Between the two of you I continue to … Love your channel … from PA, USA.
Doing exactly what you envision is working Love the creativity you produce & your interest in helping others develop their's as well. Thanks for sharing so much of your soooo interesting lives🇨🇦♥️😊
Your vlogs are so interesting and creative, and I never thought that for one moment, money was the main drive. Please keep being creative it's wonderful.
Love your channel and the variety of content. I love your creativity. I had always enjoyed crafting but with a demanding full time job there was never time. One of the joys of retirement has been exploring new creative opportunities. I have learned embroidery, create cushions combining different fabrics and trimmings and discovering fabrics from around the world, vintage and new as well as using embroidery, making lampshades, papier mache work, pressed flower artwork, picture framing and watercolours. So satisfying and you inspire me. Now you have rewired the lamps perhaps you should consider making lampshades 😊. Happy to share my sources.❤ loved the yellow lampshades you made.
Steve & Sarah I never misunderstood what your vlog’s were about. The creativity & the history of your Manor is awesome. Love when you show the retreats of the guests showing off their talents as well. As yours too, when you are not doing retreats. Loved your Wedding outfits. Just beautiful. You both are so talented & thank you for sharing with us all. Keep doing what you are doing. 🤗🌹👍🏻
You don't need to explain what you are doing. It's wonderful! Your DIY fits in with everything else . Look at how artistic the door panels on the front doors and the beautiful bird cage room fits in with everything else. Keep it up!!
Thank you for being you. It’s a journey for everyone, we all learn along they, you are certainly on the way. 🎉🎉🎉❤️❤️❤️ to glam up two floor lamps, I kept the lampshades and added pom-pom braid round the top and bottom. Vavoom. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I enjoy your videos because you do some DIY and seeing the retreat parts of it is wonderful and interesting, and also it is wonderful to see people doing art and you guys do your art and it just encourages my own creative thoughts so that I don’t stay focused on my daily job and I can go back into painting or my photographywhich sometimes can get forgotten, so thank you for doing a variety on your videos. It’s very enjoyable, saying hello from Indiana, USA.❤😊
I like how all the chateau vlogs are slightly different - i love the recovered shade i like to see little projects that we can do at home thanks for sharing ❤
I love your channel and brand , I loved your concept at the beginning and so pleased for you both that it’s come to fruition . How many people can say they made their dreams come true ? You both can 🎉
Great vlog. Lamps look great too. So pleased all is working well for you. Both the creative journey and DIY vlogs are wonderful. Thanks for sharing. Celia NZ
Maybe the title should be "Makers at the Manor." I love your concept of having all different kinds of creativity - it's not just painting and music. Also, like the idea of giving items a new life and keeping them out of the landfill. All good stuff!
I enjoy your DIY & workshops. People have so much talent A lot of chateaus have Weddings yours is unique with what you have. Those 2 x lovely women (chefs) food looks fabulously presented! I hope no-one is rude in their comments as you both do a wonderful welcoming personal.
To pass wiring through a tricky hole you can use a length of ballchain and as it is fluid you attach a thread to it then the wire to the thread and voila !! I loved these lamps, so happy that they are being used. XO
Your combination of DIY & events provides variety to viewers. I wish you great success on uTube & your events & projects. Both of you are so talented. ❤
LOVE you both from the beginning and thought your intentions have been stated clearly several times. Place that art piece in the laundry room/storage. Everyone needs beauty while doing chores. Wait-is your washer in the kitchen? Then ooohhh a new room DIY project, maybe on upper floor?? In your spare time. ha!ha! Please watch another lamp tutorial online. You don't need to change out the brass cupswitch unless the waxed cardboard is scorched or switch worn. Next time, buy clear wire and don't forget to tie a half knot in the wire before you attach to screws inside the cupswitch. A video will show you more clearly. Plugs always need replaced with new wire. Love the new lampshade! Sarah- I bet you have tons of trim for the top and rickrack/fringes for the bottom to jazz up more this winter. Hand sewing by the fire. Steve-that was so nice of you to give Viv the laser. I look forward to seeing both channels make neato items for both chateau. Maybe even to sell??? Gifts??? Bon chance!
You could add a wooden base with a slot through for wiring and add to the bottom of the alabaster lamp?? I love what youre doing. Its one of my favourite things to do.
I like how your channel is different to others, as far as I know the majority of the other chateau channels have been featured on UK tv doing diy. I would love to see a sewing retreat, whether it was basic cushions and curtains or vintage clothing. (With lots of fabric and trim shopping thrown in) That way you can have the sewing room of dreams!
I love Chateau vlogs anything Chateau is on my watch . As it would be a dream to even own just a Town house , Chateau style in France . I like watching DIY but not every video its cool to see something different and i love the most of all Shopping anything Antique thats my favourite . So a good mix is great . 🥰❤❤
You guys are so down to earth and “ likeable”! I enjoy watching every video and always learn something! Thanks for explaining your brand and your purpose/ goals. .. Sarah- did you know you can easily make “ slipcovers” for your lampshades? In the “ old days” women would use fabric and gather it to fit the top opening of the shade. Hem, add trim if desired and Viola! It hides and damaged or stained shades and looks custom made for your lamps! I enjoy all your creative and resourceful adventures as you renovate and decorate your lovely chateau and host creatives such as ourselves!❤ lampshades?
Love the mix of your channel but especially the "live" art with the creatives. If's a bit harder watching others draw and paint etc but I love seeing their reactions to their art. 😊
Hi Steve and Sarah! I love your art workshops, your relationships with other chateau owners, your travels to brocantes, historic villages,, and trips to beautiful places you take us along. I wish you would do more to your chateau to bring it back to its former beauty, and get rid of the color of blue paint you have on the walls as IMO it clashes with the art you display on the walls.

I didn't know you were going to share my creation this week! Thank you for your very kind words. You are some very special friends. Big hug.

Great explanation of what you do. Wonderful idea to bring both together. Love this. Come on folks hit the 👍button…. They deserve it x
Bless you guys! Its lovely to see all the various chatelaines doing different things. I think you guys are rather unique .... very cool!
I don't usually make personal comments, but Sarah, that is a beautiful fabric you are wearing.
Oh thank you!
You know what, if they don’t wanna watch, then don’t. YOU DO you!
I love the painting & sewing, costumes… friends..

@vickiharley6938 I also like the American couple Our French Chateau and At the Chateau.

Yes, I like that one too! Amazing what they do for those cats. Can you believe folk are rude about that!
I really love the mix of experiences your channel offers! There are many purely DIY chateau channels out there. I love the diversity you share.
We love you guy's too. Been there since Steve was spreading gravel at Lalande in a robe!!

Yes, I think more context and commentary is very helpful. It also felt more personal today, good job.

Good job on those lamps 👍🏻 😊
You don’t need to defend what you do or how you live. Just be you. There are plenty of DIY chateau videos out there if people don’t like yours.

I love your concept of having all different kinds of creativity - it's not just painting and music.
Also, like the idea of giving items a new life and keeping them out of the landfill. All good stuff!
Omg you are so gifted 😊

Lamps look fabulous ❤
You guys are so down to earth and “ likeable”! I enjoy watching every video and always learn something! Thanks for explaining your brand and your purpose/ goals. ..
Sarah- did you know you can easily make “ slipcovers” for your lampshades? In the “ old days” women would use fabric and gather it to fit the top opening of the shade. Hem, add trim if desired and Viola! It hides and damaged or stained shades and looks custom made for your lamps!
I enjoy all your creative and resourceful adventures as you renovate and decorate your lovely chateau and host creatives such as ourselves!❤
lampshades?
Love the mix of your channel but especially the "live" art with the creatives.
If's a bit harder watching others draw and paint etc but I love seeing their reactions to their art.
😊
So you can say you had a light video today. Haha loved it good luck
Lovely lamps, good job
Lovely vlog as usual. I think the red lampshade goes well on the spiral one.. just an opinion.
