    I dont know anything about chases but why are there 15 units following instead of boxing in suspect. the city layout is a grid and a helo is spotting, but lets just follow him with the whole department. it seems like a waste to me.

    I used to live in downtown. Often experiencing this chase, specifically at night you can’t sleep cuz of the light coming from the police helicopter 🚁 blinking lights from police cars. So maybe those people outside just want these chase to end up so they can have a good sleep.

    Wimpy police tactics support high crime rates. The car should have been stopped ASAP to stop the damage to the pavement from those metal rims at least. PIT then stuff a K9 through the driver's window to get the driver to exit if they stall. Police chiefs and mayors should always ask themselves, "How is this going to look on UA-cam?"

    "High rate of speed" means nothing. You probably want to say high speed. Speed is defined as distance travelled per unit time. "High rate of speed" means nothing. Do you mean "high speed"? You must mean high speed and if you mean high speed, then why don't you just say "high speed" instead of the meaningless "high rate of speed"?

      They should be jailed until the cost of the damage they caused is fully paid for by friends and/or family. If that fails them, they should be put to work in chain gangs cleaning roadsides, at minimum wage payrates, until they've paid for the damage they caused. It's a shame that drivers' insurance companies end up swallowing the bills, and passing the costs on with price increases.

      Given past chases they learned the best idea is not just to tidal wave and box him in with a sea of orcas, but yes i agree, the fact that he is able to keep those units far enough back to where they cant just end it immediately, is very concerning, but also factor in a 3k lb car, they dont want it flying into a curb and right into someone. I also hope they get more aggressive more often, as with these recent chases, whether they track him or actively chase him, every intersection he flies through is more risk in most cases than if they just smash him off the road and swarm him like an angry hive.

      @@chadmargraf4020 People also seem to forget that an automobile can and often is used as a weapon in chases. I am with the opinion that in certain situations where the suspect is clearly putting others in harms way, it is acceptable to used lethal force against the suspect.

      @@drwhoeric yes i know, that is part of when suspects are blowing through intersections, and the officers are crossing their fingers that he doesnt hit anyone. Also when suslwcts get brazen enough to drive at officers. Which reminds me of how departments should be upgrading their cruisers with devices that can counter those situations. The Bumper Grappler, Bumper Spike Strip, The RF Emitter, are just a few. Also it is possible to have highways equipped with light systems that will light up when chases are going onto that highway, to alert everyone to whats going on, even when the cruisers themselves cant keep up with the suspect, innocent drivers will be alerted to the suslect's presence, and will hopefully do the right thing and move off to one side, so no one gets hurt.

      PIT maneuvers aren't used with an armed suspect. They don't want the vehicle turned around facing them. It's a safety issue.

    Thus shouldn't have gone on as long as it did. If this "armed and dangerous" suspect is that bad, why wouldn't they PIT him when the car was on rims? That extra time could have been used to plan something. It infuriating to see how passive CA police are compared to other states

    Why don’t more of them get ahead and do spike strips, they wouldn’t be far from the chase if they all spaced out around the streets and did some spikes.

    Deadly force should be used by police in all high speed pursuits, to many innocent people are threatened by pursuits.

      But in this case there is no high speed..You have like 10 cops cruising along at an average of 30 MPH not even trying..i fail to see the point here. I agree with you if the speed is high though..

      We have something like that to remember the street order in downtown Seattle. Jesus Christ Made Seattle Utterly Perfect. The streets are James, Cherry, Columbia, Marion, Madison, Spring, Seneca, University, Union, Pike (as in Pike Place Market) and Pine. I have never forgotten it. Seattle street’s don’t follow a normal grid. These are just the business district streets.

    What charges do the passengers of the vehicle face once they are captured? Do they get the same charges as the driver, or is it some lesser charge since they were not in control of the vehicle?

      Nonsense question... Unless you were involved in some crime committed together, imagine that your friend driving back home from a party decides to ignore a police stop and run, and you as a passenger are at his mercy, until you have enough of it and ask him to let you jump off... What charges do you expect to face then?

      @@pulidoggy it's not nonsense. Just standing there while your friend does X can get you charged with accessory. Cops can also charge you with conspiracy and a few other things. It's at their discretion, depends on how they view your relationship with the main perp.

      It is not how law works, at least here in Italy. Cops cannot "charge" anything, it is not "at their discretion". They can just respond and collect evidence, it is for the court to issue charges.
      And, in order to get even an accessory charge because of a friend's felony it takes a very, very strict causal relationship with the committed crime.
