    Great job! I'm not really experienced in wood working but I'm refinishing a Levon Helm style kit made out of old single tension marching snares. I want to make a few parts out of wood and this gave me inspiration.

    I’m interested in this due to constant stress working with rope around my Tahitian BassDrum I’d like to place back the rim clause with screws. I admire your creation of needed support for my project.

    Thank you for sharing, Rob, a beautiful video that inspires in times when everyone just hits each other's heads or spreads bad things, you create something beautiful and lasting - even if I may never build a drum kit myself

    Soooo many questions (which translates to inspiration). I’m heading down this EXACT path. So, much so I’m in the final process of building two major projects that are all part of a major remodel my wife and I are doing. One is completing a workshop that will have a CNC machine, among other typical machinery….and the other is a home studio. Two, questions. 1). Do you sell your plans/designs for the CNC machine? 2). Do you sell any of the hardware you’re making. I can’t find anyone to build me a set of really great looking rims for a custom kit I’m having built as I type. I absolutely hate the generic round style hoops you see online. I want something in the shape a die-cast hoop. You’re work is incredibly inspiring, given you’re doing *exactly* what I want to do.

    Rob, great video, I really enjoyed it. Really liked seeing how you used the different jigs. Whew, I sure have a lot to learn about my CNC…lol

    Very nice. I couldn't figure out how to do an undercut in Vcarve when I did my spinning wheel design so I ended up using Fusion 360 for the tool paths (cedar strip canoe bit). Thanks for the tip.

    Man you've made some really nice stuff, inspiring. Thanks man

      That CNC has evolved quite a bit over the years. It is similar to the GattonCNC in many ways. I would recommend that one if you are interested in building your own CNC from a kit (and save some $$$ in the process).

      @@sidewinderdrums yeah I thought I recognized the style. I started with an x carve 3 yrs ago, now I've got it and a Queenbee 4x4, super happy with it, made a full transition to Vcarve Pro as my full time cad for cnc, learned it enough where I dont get stuck so much lol.
      Those jigs are fantastic, big fan of jigs, getting creative with 3d printing helped me in making some innovative jigs

    Try’s thread rolling tap,instead of the thread cutting tap. No shavings, and better threads.

    Great Vid, Rob! What size tap did you use for the brass tubes?

      12-24 for the tension rods. I like this design for "pretty" lugs, but I am not convinced they will hold up over time. I am always trying to find that perfect lug design that looks good and will hold up over time. I feel pretty good about the lugs I did for the "snake skin" drum - they look good and are very sturdy.

    Hey Rob great start to finish video. I'm interested in those threaded inserts you used. They look to be a low profile variety, can you list the manufacturer and part numbers? I make tap handles and allows looking for a better insert. Thanks

    Hi. Do you make lugs for sale? Thanks.

    • @sidewinderdrums
      @sidewinderdrums  10 місяців тому

      No - I don't think they are strong enough to hold up long term, and the time/labor is excessive so the price would be too high.
