7900 XTX is way cheaper than RTX 4080 and provides similar performance. Most Nvidia cards are way overpriced for what you get, but their top cards really takes the cake. It's astonishing how they get people to buy them. 7900XTX provides better performance per dollar than 4080 (incl. SUPER) and usually beat Nvidia's significantly more expensive card in rasterization performance. Only in ray tracing is where Nvidia has an edge, sometimes, but the performance in ray tracing titles is so low it's kind of irrelevant. 7900XTX should be on the charts, period. They should also show prices and performance per dollar - to show where people should actually spend their money.
Just a friendly correction: AFMF (AMD Fluid Motion Frames) is not the competitor to DLSS 3 Frame Generation. FSR 3 is. It is a very similar procedure. Both combine motion vectors (getting that from the game's engine) and optical flow compute (Nvidia has fixed function hardware for that - AMD does it via compute). Both have latency reduing procedures to compensate the added latency of compute and delaying a frame. Nvidia has reflex and FSR3 has a reflex equivalent baked in. Both require explicit implementation into the game by the developer. But both are so similar (as FSR2 and DLSS2 are very similar how they work) that modders had a easy time to inject FSR3 when DLSS3 Frame Generation is supported and likely vice versa. AFMF on the other hand is not reliant on implementation by the developer - it works transparent to the game. This procedure uses a similar optical flow procedure as in FSR3 but since it does not get motion vectors from the engine it is more limited in terms of stability. Also it does not have a lag reduction mechanism built in. Although both AFMF and FSR3 FG are somewhat similar those are not the same. DLSS 3 Frame Generation should be compared to FSR3. Also an unrelated question: why is there no Radeon 7900 XTX in the benchmarks? That is the competitor to the Geforce 4080 / 4080 Super...
One thing to add, AMD does not have an equivalent to Reflex. Its the other way around. Reflex is an equivalent of Radeon Anti Lag. AMD was the first to add the anti lag features.
@@greenking7390I'm pretty sure that reflex is better than anti-lag, but AMD released anti-lag+ recently and it's about on par with reflex. The only issue was that they made it available at the driver level and it tripped anti-cheats, so a lot of players had problems and they took the feature out temporarily.

It points out that the marketing hoopla around new graphics card releases often overshadows the actual performance differences, which aren't always as significant as they're made out to be. Agreed about NVIDIA having to better cater to gamers on a tighter budget.
They have to cater to gamers better ON ALL BUDGETS. At every performance to price point except ray tracing Nvidia loses. The only thing they have going for them is, IF you want the best of the best, they offer it. But at a steep price increase over second place
I suspect nVidia is just reading the room. They know AMD is now on the socket (AM5) and node sizing that will finally enable them to completely obsolete entry level discrete GPUs with their future APUs. nVidia very likely won't be able to please investors with a profit margin large enough to bother creating low end discrete GPUs that can match the performance per dollar, footprint, or power efficiency of AMD APUs, so the logical pathway forward is to abandon the low end/low midrange and go full Apple style boutique and cater only to the people working with AI, or to gamers with far more money than sense.

7900XTX is actually about 100 bucks cheaper than the 4080 SUPER and performs considerably better... Not including it in the review is poor journalism to be honest. It made AMD look unfairly worse, but still Nvidia managed to look bad. That says something about how overrated and overpriced team green's cards are. Nvidia COULD beat AMD if they want, but they'd rather trick customers into paying WAY more than the product is worse. Reviewers aren't really critical enough. Again, that's saying something as Nvidia is getting roasted for their SUPER release.
@@spicywater1494 It's not wrong. It's pretty simple, you take results from review and calculate it against the price. If you end up with more performance per dollar, that's the card you should buy. 7900 XTX provides more performance per dollar. Besides, saying it's worse because of VR is biased cherry picking. You have to look at the overall performance versus price. Also, when it comes to VR, that's something that can be improved upon in driver updates. Nvidia tends to improve less over time in driver updates because they're better optimized on launch. Meaning, over time, AMD tend to improve quite a lot compared to how it was in reviews.

@@jawohlbxb3534it would not be an apples to apples comparison. The 7900XTX is up to 18% better in raster vs the 4080 and the 4080 Super. This review is, once again, bullshit. No sense in saying 20min of why Nvidia is releasing flawed products if you can’t bother showing the improvements of the others. why do you not have a 7900xtx for comparison it retails for almost exactly the same price or cheaper than either 4080 option and should be significantly closer than the 7900xt
I've wondered that about linus's videos. I get why you'd have the 7800's, but the 7900xtx seems like the one more people would own. Maybe not? Either way, it should be included.
quick research shows the absolute cheapest 4080 (not super) sells for the same price as 7900xtx, with most 4080's being about $250 more for the same level of card. the 4080 supers look about $500 more expensive than a similar 7900xtx. Honestly not sure why the AMD card they chose to put up is one that competes with a 4070.
@mdoggie82 7800 XT makes sense because it's a bit cheaper than the 4070 and is a meaningful alternative. But the 7700 XT didn't really need to be present, since its availability is pretty limited and doesn't make sense next to the 7800 XT. They could have replaced it with the 7900 XTX, and then there wouldn't be any extra work to do or cards to show on the graph.
I don't normally comment but the exclusion of the 7900 XTX from the charts is really a problem with this review. It is THE direct competitor to the 4080 Super (you even say this in the video at 9:33.) You also say the 4080 Super has "slightly better raster" performance than the XTX, which contradicts your own graphic you're showing at that moment. I'm seeing some people comment "he addressed why the 7900 XTX wasn't included" which is wrong. He addressed why they excluded AMDs frame generation from the charts, which is a totally separate issue from the 7900 XTX. I love LTT and will keep watching, but the XTX needed to be on the charts in this video.
Having graphs with no 7900xtx to compare the 4080super to is a pretty weird choice if not stupid at this point given they are the same price and are direct competitors.

To be clear, FSR 3 and the driver Fluid Motion Frames are different implementations, as FSR 3 uses temporal information from the game to generate frames and requires game integration, while the driver Fluid Motion Frames adds frames after the fact outside of the game without this temporal information. These are two different things, so why show the AMD FSR 3 demo video? Also at 9:03, you showed the in-game FPS and the captured FPS by AMD's overlay. The difference in FPS would not be representative of what it actually is using AFMF, as fluid motion frames would be using part of the GPU for frame generation, reducing the'real FPS' that the in-game counter tracked. In the video they talk about why they didn't include FSR + frame interpolation results (for all AMD cards, regardless of 7900 XTX). There is a very basic and limited summary page where they acknowledge that the 7900 XTX is the competitor to 4080 S. This does in no way account for 7900 XTX missing from all charts! For all we know the figures they quote are old numbers as other review outlets get higher percentage improvements from 7900 XTX vs 4080 S. If there's a 5 % improvement and 9 % price difference, then that translates into 13 % better performance per dollar for the 7900 XTX. Thanks for keeping it simple and short, maybe a bit too short since 4080 super vs 7900 XTX with current drivers is a serious debate for people wanting to upgrade right now, like me.
It's simple. Go with XTX if you don't care about RT. It's generally around 3-5% better for cheaper (source: LTT data in this video and Daniel Owen's benchmarking videos). If you want to play RT, then go 4080S since the XTX loses pretty hard on that front.

The 7900 XTX is cheaper and is still better than the 4080 SUPER. Ray tracing is the only area where Nvidia has a real advantage, but the performance isn't good enough for it to matter much, really. And RT titles are the vast minority of games. Besides, AMD keep up okay in RT anyway, to the point where it's not really worth it paying more for team green and get worse rasterization performance, where most gaming is. So....the way Nvidia works is they design the silicon and then manufacture it. The chips that are "B" tier and have flaws they'll sell at a series launch with the flawed cores disabled and the "A" tier chips they save to make Supers. Or you can buy a titanium card that has an "A" tier chip. They never actually changed the manufacturing process. Just saved the better silicon to be rereleased later. 5% more cores? They never actually changed nm or nodes and the gddr actually got cheaper so you're really just paying extra for what they could've sold a year ago. They'll also take "B" tier top class card silicon and put it in a mid grade card with the bad cores disabled and run a slightly higher power consumption to push a couple of MHz out of it and attach a better heat sink. The 7900XTX is considerably better than 4080 Super at a lower price. It's not too far being 4090, which costs about twice as much... The story repeats as you go down the ladder. Even better gems are the previous gen products from AMD that are heavily discounted. Because AMD was so strong last generation, the 6000 series is still quite relevant.
@@GameTimeWhy I just like new tech and seeing the difference for myself. Initially, I was going to purchase a 4090 FE, but they sold out in my area too quickly and never got a restock. Plus, I purchased my 3090Ti FE new, under MSRP and treat it like leasing a vehicle. Maybe it's dumb, but I use my computer for more than just gaming.
I looked at the Steam hardware survey yesterday, and not only is the 2060 still the number one card, but the percentage isn't changing. At all. I bought a used 3080 LHR almost 2 and 1/2 years ago, and with a couple of outliers, I'm still perfectly happy at 1440. Until there's 4090-level performance at an attainable price point, I'm not going to feel compelled to upgrade outside of a lottery win.
I own an TRX 4070ti, or Owned, it lasted 4 months before VRam failure. First INNO3D card I've had. Anyway, while it was working, it was solid as a rock at 4k. 80fps on any game I threw at it on my Samsung 4k curved monitor.
@@Hathos9 Doesn't matter. Nvidia actually came out a lot better than they should. The 4080 SUPER had no competitor in the charts. It would've looked quite differently with 7900XTX at the top of the charts, when it's a cheaper card. Now it just looks like AMD can't compete with the 4080 series. Those who lack knowledge (the ones actually looking to this video for information) are the ones who will not know this and are likely to not know about the different models in the lineup of AMD and Nvidia. That's what reviews are supposed to inform people about. Alternatives, better products at a better price.
@@Hathos9 Hey, please let's not delve into stereotypes and clichés. I never accused them of "helping Nvidia". My point was never about the reason 7900 XTX was omitted or whether LTT is "helping Nvidia". You don't know what I believe, so I'd appreciate if you'd ask instead of putting words in my mouth. I genuinely think that LTT is a neutral party, at least to a fair degree. I can only speculate, but my guess for the omission would be that it was related to poor prioritization, time-constraints and misjudgement rather than along the lines of what you "suggested" that I believe. Nonetheless, it doesn't matter in terms of my previous statements. The point still stands, no matter the reason for omission. And if your only takeaway from my comment is that you think I hate Nvidia and think LTT are helping them, you should read it again with the knowledge that your interpretation and assumption is incorrect. If you disagree with my statements (without putting assumptions to it), I'd be happy to hear your arguments to why you think I'm wrong. However, the anti-Nvidia narrative you claim I have is both unfair and inaccurate. I'd say the same if the brands were to be reversed. However, they are not. I am obligated to adhere to objective facts and data and unless you disagree that reviews should provide comparison of competing products in order to inform the user about the current product situation - then I don't see any compelling reason that the directly competing product should not be included.
I just bought a 4070 super, upgrading from my 3060. It's night and day obviously, but another thing is, I have a smaller m atx rig and the two fan cards fit better in my setup. So performance to size ratio is great, I've doubled most of my frame rates at higher graphics settings.
I upgraded to 4070 super from GTX 970...now THATS a night and day difference 🤣 But basically I only upgrade my PC once in 8-10 years and was just waiting to see what GPU might offer same kind of value as GTX 970 did 10 years ago and I believe 4070 super might just do that
Hearing about these new Super cards are going to make me go insane. Two months before the release of the Super cards, I bought a 4070 for my new rig just for the 4070 Super to deliver a better performance increase + being sold for the exact same price as my 4070.
There is always a faster component within a relatively short window of you buying a new PC. It's worked liked that since before most of the people in the comments were born. There's no way to prevent it happening, you just have to make your decision within your budget, cover your eyes and hit buy then do a lot of deep breathing exercises and maybe block the tech news for a few months so you don't hear so much about all the better things you could have got if only you'd waited three months and saved just a bit more.
I think they deemed it as not necessary in their Nvidia card comparison video as it does not offer too much more than the 7900 XT in these charts. It'd only really be one or two places higher for a card that only compares with the 4800 Super for price point, which I think the 7900 XT is sufficient enough for. That said, AMD really makes bad office work chips.
@@josuoh9888 AMD is more suited for gamers and not everyday work tasks and it's obvious lmao. Also, the XTX is considerably better than the 4080/Super, so I'm not sure what you're on about. He probably didn't add it because he knew it'd out perform the 4080/Super.
@@ReasonableLogicFrom what I've seen in Benchmarks, FPS tests, and DLSS/FSR comparisons, they seem pretty neck and neck, with some games working better on the XTX and some working better on the 4080 S. That said, I do agree that it would've been a fine addition to the scores, but I think either they didn't add it, considering that they haven't done a review for the XTX (probably don't have one in their lab), nor does it give any comparisons that the 7900 XT doesn't already prove.
Last year picked up a used MSI RTX 4070 Ti Super Expert 16GB for about £600 GBP. Flashed it with Asus Rog Strix OC vBIOS to unlock power limit. Raised power limit to 128% then core/mem set to +265Mhz/+2000Mhz stable. Timespy score is 27000 (RTX4080 Stock score is 28600) and Steel Nomad graphic score is 6300 (RTX4080 Stock score is 6600), which puts it 5% under a RTX 4080 base. The cooler MSI used on this GPU is same one for their 4080 Super and it was temps of 60-65C all the way without even playing with fan curve yet. The amount of watts is insanely inefficient - 340W peak. The stock original vBIOS limit was 285W.
My question then is how does AMD's 7900XTX fit into this puzzle? At the moment, AIB cards for both the 7900XTX and the RTX 4080 Super are sitting at basically the same price points at places like Micro Center and Newegg. Are the advantages that Team Green has in the areas of power efficiency and AI shenanigans enough to make them an overall better value than Team Red's equivalent offering?
I mean I’m upgrading from a 3060 12GB. Been looking at 4070. Then I started saving for the 4070 ti. Now I’m 100% getting the 4070 ti super. I’m hoping I can keep the power cord and not have to change anything. 750 80+ gold PSU was told it’s good enough. And just got the 5800x3d from a 3700x. Big change there for me. As someone who has NEVER built a PC before, I'm doing some research online and looking at reviews, specs/comparisons etc... on NVIDIA's website after comparing specs, the 4070 TI Super seems pretty solid, I like the 16gb VRAM as well... I want this GPU for gaming, work, streaming, video editing and just everyday use. I could just go all out and buy a 4090 and all the latest parts cpu mobo etc but idk man I feel like it's not worth spending that much, I wanna save a bit but still have BEAST levels of performance, especially for my 1st PC build... For monitor I'd prolly go for a 4k 120hz or even 240hz... hell even 1440p would be okay as long as refresh rate is minimum 120hz, I'd be happy... Honestly, my mind has been racing and overheating with info overload tryna figure out what parts are the best, what prices are best, when the best time is to buy these parts (if they're even easily available) it's overwhelming asf doing research for the 1st time, hell even memorizing what these parts are and even do lol... 🤣🤣 Top comment!
That's why they are called SUPER lmao

That is the competitor to the Geforce 4080 / 4080 Super...
are you serious they didnt fucking know that?
One thing to add, AMD does not have an equivalent to Reflex. Its the other way around. Reflex is an equivalent of Radeon Anti Lag. AMD was the first to add the anti lag features.
@@greenking7390I'm pretty sure that reflex is better than anti-lag, but AMD released anti-lag+ recently and it's about on par with reflex. The only issue was that they made it available at the driver level and it tripped anti-cheats, so a lot of players had problems and they took the feature out temporarily.
The reason for it being worse is the different approach to it. DLSS vs FSR is a good example. @@leonro

Expectations were already low going in.

Not including it in the review is poor journalism to be honest. It made AMD look unfairly worse, but still Nvidia managed to look bad. Also, when it comes to VR, that's something that can be improved upon in driver updates. Nvidia tends to improve less over time in driver updates because they're better optimized on launch. Meaning, over time, AMD tend to improve quite a lot compared to how it was in reviews.

These are two different things, so why show the AMD FSR 3 demo video? Also at 9:03, you showed the in-game FPS and the captured FPS by AMD's overlay. @@kl0ness You watch the video. :) Nowhere is the lack of 7900 XTX justified or even addressed.
That's how much the price makes a difference so many fail to realize this.
Thanks for keeping it simple and short, maybe a bit too short since 4080 super vs 7900 XTX with current drivers is a serious debate for people wanting to upgrade right now, like me.
i would go with the XTX honestly regardless if they are same price (or cheaper)
It's simple. Go with XTX if you don't care about RT. It's generally around 3-5% better for cheaper (source: LTT data in this video and Daniel Owen's benchmarking videos). If you want to play RT, then go 4080S since the XTX loses pretty hard on that front.
What a terrible time to upgrade.
Just dont Upgrade. I have been sitting on my 9900K and 2080ti since 2019 if the big bump of the 3000 series didnt sway me this wont either, until something massive actually Happens. Or this rig Gives up the Ghost haha.
Wait for uplift on both ends , CPU and GPU..
So, get yourself a 7900XTX. The drivers are fine, it's just people repeating old stuff without actually having any experience with it themselves.

Hence the "Redux" comment.

THANK YOU for adding dots beside the lines of the graph when you mention a card. Its a great quality of life add to the videos!!!
Yeah same bruh I purchased the 4080 super cause of this my wallet it said now 😢
There is always a faster component within a relatively short window of you buying a new PC.

Why wasn't the 7900XTX included in this testing? The 4080 Super is directly in it's price bracket.
I wonder why the 7900xtx was left out T_T
I mean I’m upgrading from a 3060 12GB. Been looking at 4070. Then I started saving for the 4070 ti. Now I’m 100% getting the 4070 ti super. I’m hoping I can keep the power cord and not have to change anything. 750 80+ gold PSU was told it’s good enough. And just got the 5800x3d from a 3700x. Big change there for me. I’m on native 4k tv and play at 1440p in MSFS.
I feel like a grandpa just stepping into tech for the 1st time xD this truly is a new world I'm stepping into as I've basically used laptops/AIOs and never had a true PC before...
@@rafaelacash7 I feel it. I bought mine as a pre built from Best Buy. Had a 3700x and I just upgraded that to a 5800x3d and big performance gain from that alone as well as 38GB ram. B550 Asus prime I think. G15DK was what it was called at Best Buy.
@@juanwhick1691 ah 38gb is nice! I haven't done much research on AMD side but from what I've heard they're good for gaming and seems to be budget friendly too compared to NVIDIA... I'm tempted to get a pre-built as I'm kinda terrified of building it myself, If I do something wrong lol but I probably won't save as much going pre-built anyways... Gonna see more reviews on this '70 TI Super, so far I like it!
Y is there no Rex 7900xtx in your benchmarks
BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT IN THE SAME LEAGUE. 4080 Super is dogshit what don't y'all understand the 4080 can't compete with it what made you think the GPU that's 3 percent faster than the 4080 is going to touch the 7900xtx
Would really have like to see how these cards (especially the 4080 Super) compared to the 7900xtx
He literally addressed why it isn’t included and plans to test that card further with its own videos. Watch before commenting.
Literally the 4070 is better than that junk anyway so who cares.
I only game. 2 months ago I was debating between the 7900xtx or wait for the 4080 super... I'm glad i went with 7900xtx.
I wish you would have added the 7900XTX to the comparison.
Great video. Idk how its possible, slower delivery of information, but shorter video and I gained more info compared to the older review videos.
Great improvement.
Feels a little off that the 7900 XTX isn't included in the benchmarks here. It's a clear direct competitor to the 4080 super. If I didn't know better, I might think it was intentionally left out to make Nvidia look better 🤔
Yeah, I only want better price-to-performance ratio, not everyone has the money (or the time for that matter) to rock these high end rigs!
I think the price equivalent 7900xtx would have been a good addition to this video and benchmarks.
0:49 FYI the dots inside words that dictionaries have aren't for syllables it's for where it's ok to insert a new line inside a word. "su•per vid•e•o" suggests you could have "super vide-" and on the next line "o".
Wonder why the 7900 XTX wasn't in this video.
With these absolute insane prices, I still can't justify upgrading like I did from 1070 to my current 2070 Super. I fear I'll have to stick to this card (now with coil whine) for years to come.
try slightly undervolting it. It may eliminate the coil whine
@@ItsReallyGeo Hey, thanks for the tip, I'll try it out.
I've been thinking of upgrading my 1080 but really have no idea what's worth it these days.
@@tsoliot5913 i feel you.
@@tsoliot5913I intend to keep my 1070 until the 50 series is out, if I can wait through the pandemic shortage and now this crap refresh, I can wait another year or two
