Thanks for the video, that’s exactly what I needed. Had some different ideals but think this looks the easiest, plus I already have the metal just need the bolts. Good job buddy.

1/2" black gas pipe fits perfectly over a 5/8 shaft or bolt...

      Thanks for the response!!!
I have never thought of using 1/2" black gas pipe for these spacers.
However, I will use that on my next builds, and start recommending that to everyone that asks, since it works, readily available, and cheap.

im atempting to build a racing mower and ive been looking to build for a couple of years now and i finally took my mower apart and etc. to try and convert it and i am stuck on the front axle and have been for a week or two now and i dont have the best resources to do these steps with and was hopefully wondering if you could give me a ittle more tips for doing this and maybe commenting the measurments so i can get the correct stuff and where to find all the parts needed.and also does this help lower the mower or do i have to do more steps to frame or something like that in order to lower my mower

I am sorry, I don't have s build sheet for any part of these builds. I don't really do spec sheets, as each build seems to be a little different, and it will vary depending on the tools each person has available. I try to emphasize on the concepts or objectives of each major change to the mower. I do give measurements as I am discussing so that might get you close on your build.

Can you buy that hole front end like that

I know your using 1/2 hem joints but is there a reason not to use 5/8 joints? I’m working on 1 now just trying to use what I already have. This is the strongest simplest front end I have seen. Btw good luck on your racing

Looking at some of your past videos you seemed to use rectangular tube for the main beam, do you suggest using 2x2 like in this video, or that's just what you had around for this build? Thank you so much for all the videos you have uploaded!

      Greetings,
      Thank you for the comment/post.
I do recommend using 2x2 or 1-3/4 x 1-3/4 square tubing for the front end. It was not just what was laying around. I specifically use either of those two materials for the front end. Depending on the frame I am working will determine which of the two sizes I use. My preference is the 1-3/4 tubing, with the 2" flat bar as is shown in this video. It allows for a clean build with no clearance issues on the front inner rim if done correctly. I have tried other materials that either did not work, or was way overkill, and added much more work to build the steering around. Just a reminder the angles I have found that work the best is the 10, 10, 10 if you are going to build from scratch.

Perfect! I picked up a Sears 917.254622 like the one in your earlier video that you called out as your favorite style for building a racer. Going to try to get a GP race ready mower built for Bowles Farm, MD at the end of July.

      Awesome!!!
I think the Sears frames are the best to build. They are a little heavier in overall weight, but you don't have to do all that extra stiffening work that is required with the other manufacturers.
If you follow my videos you will have a good solid machine that will last for years.
I know it is a little mundane, but I would recommend watching my videos prior to really starting your build.
Having an idea of what needs to happen through all the stages will greatly help you through the process.
I am glad to see the videos are of some value for others.
When I built my first machine, their wasn't much available on how modify these machines. It was a very long, and painful process of trial and errors, and a little bit of coaching from some fellow racers. Hopefully, these videos will make it so you don't go through that same painful process that I did on my first one.

Do you have a build sheet for this? Or can you put one on here?

    • @mowtorchaoslawnmowerracing3517
      @mowtorchaoslawnmowerracing3517  8 років тому

Sorry for the delayed response. Unfortunately, I do not have a build sheet for this. I don't build off of spec sheets, or designs when I build.
I do mention all the measurements in the video, so if you wanted to build a mock up build sheet for this then you could by doing up a drawing, and then adding the measurements as I mention them.

      Greetings,
I am sorry I don't build parts for other people. I have done that in the past and it didn't work out. My response to that was to build this You Tube Channel which hopefully shows people how to do their own modifications for their own machines. A good internet search will return people who will sell you pre-built parts (front ends). Maybe check some of them out.
