nice race mower
Subbed jist got a race mower for fun picked it up for 150 bucks lowered widened an a 15.5 with some stuff done to it!!
what are the lengths of the 2" square stock, 2" and 1" flat bar?
3 inches …I’m sure that will be fine for you. Though… I wouldn’t be bragging about it to the ladies. 🤫
How did you mount the rear wheel on the transaxle?
Hey I just wanted to say thanks appreciate all the knowledge your giving out for free. It usually takes a long time to be able to pick somebody's brain enough to get the information you need to do what you want to do and I know that first-hand experience and I'm still learning that, but yeah very nice work and I look forward to possibly seeing you out on the track or just meeting one day. Take care
What tether are you running
There's a guy that uses those fnr axles and they work great.... He's got a video on it and it's genius.. The secret is solid keyed shaft, ball bearings and removing the gear reduction and replacing it with chain and sprockets... Once modded like that they are stronger and way lighter than a standard spicer/peerless 3/4" transaxle (this can also be done to internally speed up a regular peerless transaxle too).. You can keep reverse with no issues and waaaay less parasitic loss plus we typically stay in one gear when racing in circles anyway... Speaking of seemingly useless transmissions;) I have videos of how I modded my 3 speed foote to horizontal input which unlocks some real potential in my experience.. (with external support bushings) it makes it able to hold as much power and more abuse than a peerless 700 (at least the ones with only 2 shift keys)... The Foote 3 speed is the only mower trans I've ever seen that is actually designed like a dogbox and loves being shifted on the fly the 3/8" input shaft and 1/2" output are their only drawback but it is very simple to replace the shift shaft (which becomes the input) and countershaft (output) with solid 5/8" keyed shaft and I make mine long enough for external support bearings which renders the case strictly an oil pan and means the only things I worry about breaking are the shifting dogs or the gears..
I took my rear end apart cleaned it and put gear oil in it and now the casing won’t go flat 😑
show us how you made the brake system
I got Tecumseh/Peerless 805-xxx... or is it 206-xxx? FILL THEM WITH GEAR OIL/STP OIL TREATMENT thru the little hole on top that has the yellow plug on it ... where the neutral indicator/starter disable goes/went (what a think that must be, one more gd safety switch that can go bad and cause a person fits to get the mower started... NOT get the mower started. like seat safety... WIRE IT BACK ON ITSELF and be done with that. get E bay sticker. THIS MACHINE HAS NO BRAIN... USE UR OWN!!!!!! NO KIDS, this is NOT A TOY!!!! kids thinkit is funny to "speed shift" trans-axles and they might do it a few times before they do NOT do it, or anything else, ever again. and blown trans axle, they will prolly do ok with xx HP and speed when FULL OF STP OIL TREATMENT. get the appropriate size double lip seals off e bay... 44?MM x 25mm (1" axle) x 7mm thick and grind/cut the spacer, if so equipped, that spaces the wheel out from the end of trans axle. RED/GREEN GREASE the sanded smooth axle shaft so dont tear up the seal putting it on and grease shaft before putting seal on. if sand the rusty axle shaft BEFORE doing anything MIGHT NOT have to FIGHT THE wheel to get the wheel on/off as Wheel WILL RUST to the axle shaft and u will FIGHT IT TIL U LOSE UR MIND... when alittle grease on the axle shaft prevents rust/corrosion from seizing the wheel onto the axle shaft.
Hi my name is Joe I’ve watched your videos and like them you’re very smart and talented. I was wondering if you could tell me how I can get more steering with less steering wheel travel? Now I have a craftsman LT 2000 and I’m wanting to use the stock steering that goes down through the frame. Is there anything I can do to that to get less steering wheel travel because I want to put a hand throttle on the steering wheel. Thank you. Joe
I love your video it has inspired me to build one myself. Thank you so much for all the great videos hope to see more. Ty Joe In Vermont 👍
What manufacturer of frame is that you’re using?
Where did you get the jack shaft?
You stell raceing
Can you buy that hole front end like that
I just learned something
any update? thanks
How did the spring work and where did you get it?
camera (or the Operator) sucks...
I am collecting parts off ATV's, you can get all kinds of options for front end setups. I hooked up with a Tube front axle from a Honda Quad the other day with breaks on it. Last Fall I scored a Suzuki Quad with a complete suspension. I will be using the spindles, tie rods and making a Drop front Axle for my current Project. I suggest hitting your local Dump - Scrap Yards regularly to see what is available.
I enjoyed your videos. I would like to see more. You simplified it where it was really easy to understand. I am building a craftsman based off of them but I wasn’t sure how old they were and how much the rules have changed since you did them that I may need to confiscate for. This is my first build.
I flipped my transaxle no jack shaft needed
Could you use a full keyway so you can adjust the up and down on the jackshaft pulleys with lock collars
Could you just cut the chain with a small angle grinder after you cover it up like you did with the welding..
That mower looks bad ass . Great video . Love the color . Im currently building one not for racing but just for fun . If i have any questions ill be sure to ask u . #smallenginenation.#keepwrenchin
That's a swiss cheesed up frame bruh
You got some new videos like to see some
Great job. Great machine. Thank you for your knowledge, your time and your passion for the sport.
What happened to your channel?
Don't stop makein vids
Do you have any template for the plate metal and the main arm? Jteale3980@gmail.com
what did you do with the flat spot that was to stop the bushing from turning
I’ve found that heating the gears with a propane torch helps clean the grease off. Take as much off with brake cleaner as you can but then hit it with the propane, then wire brush it or let it cool and spray cleaner again. And the preheat helps too, if you warm them up right before welding.
Could I run 16'' tires when racing
Is there a standard for the width of the axel?
How is your caster adjustable?
Can you please build me one I'm looking to get in to lawn mower racing please email me with details and Pricing mcnemerphilip69@gmail.com that is my email thank you
Where did you get the pulleys? Especially the 6in in the front.
Nathan Steed You can buy pulleys from tractor supply’s or order at usapulley.com
The previous video said you were going to talk about the steering column but you didn’t. So, I’m curious. Cause I can’t seem to get it right. When the column comes down at an angle, how do you mount your pitman arm(I think it’s called) so that when you turn the wheel, the arm stays relatively straight? It always seems to want to take off at a funny angle as it turns.
Hi, Sorry for the delayed response. To answer your questions, I am not sure on the distance from the front pulley to the rear pulley. As a habit I do not change that distance, so it is whatever is stock. I leave the motor in the stock position, and the rear end in the stock position, aside from raising the rear end up into the chassis for lowering. The pulley sizes / diameters are always a 6" pulley in the front, and 3" or 3.5" in the rear depending on the transaxle. I prefer the peerless transaxles, and they come in 5 or 6 speed models. I will adjust between a 3 inch rear pulley or a 3.5 inch rear pulley depending on the model of transaxle, and tire size of the machine to achieve the correct gear ratio. USLMRA rules set the gear ratio to 8:1 in the classes I built the machine to, and a 6 inch front pulley with a 3 or 3.5 inch rear pulley on the peerless transaxles put me just above that ratio.
Hi, Love your video's what is the distance from front pulley to rear pulley, and what size is the front and rear pulley's. Thanks
thanks man, that was pretty informative.
Hey can you message me on messenger? Need your help on something. Thanks
Arent you putting bearings in it?
You scoop out the grease? Do you put gear oil back in are just grease? I guess gear oil would probably leak out. Thanks for the tips
you can put in oil, 85W-140, which I would highly recommend. do not use paper gasket, use liquid stuff. Put a vent in top of transaxle housing, fill it half with oil/ only lower pan.
Use an anaerobic sealant. Rtv sucks to scrape back off when you have to go back in. I’ve done 2 boxes , a peerless 801 and a mst206. The mst comes filled with gear oil already so it has seals. The older peerless doesn’t leak much, I found a couple drops under it in a weeks time. Not sure if it helps but I add some Lucas in the gear oil.
Good video. Do you have to put a deadman switch on it??
You never did a wiring video. Is that coming soon?
I’ve been using your videos for my mower build. You going to put some more videos on your racer? The step by step has been really helpful. Changed up a few things but you are right on. I’ll post it when I get closer to done. Tight budget but I’m getting there. Thanks 🙏 for the videos saved me a lot of time.
