Nice looking piece. Looks like the wood has been properly re-done. My main concern is always how tightly the gun locks up and the condition of triggers and safety.
I'm fairly new to this channel and it's the best one for giving good, honest advice. No Fluff and Bull just good ,honest advice... An old friend of mine was giving up his certificate and wanted me to buy his 1985 626e Beretta sbs and 686 special O/u (both 20 bore) off him and wanted £650 for the pair. I have no idea what they are worth and not really interested , it's the fact that my mate owned them for years and wanted me to have them that matters more .. Thanks TSC.. Adrian..
Thirty years ago I bought a 12 gauge SxS Spanish gun by Francisca Anitua. It has a plain grade of wood, but nicely hand checkered. Auto safety, still great condition. Paid $150.
I have the Webley 700 s/s like this and I love it, tight on the face, original colour hardening, nice chequering, very light shoots lovely for the £895 I paid, Really shoots like a best gun, also have a AYA s/s yeoman bit heavier, and rattles when you shake it, shoots well but the quality is just not there, but ok. My verdict.....Birmingham England Webley all the way.
Very nice finishing, shape & reasonablility in prices of these guns. No any alternate of w/s, s/s 12 bore shot guns of such model. I likes it/these very much. My dealers did not provided me this gun. So I am holding Cogswell & Harrisson London, the cosmos/paradox 27.5" 12 bore s/s shot gun. That is also a unique model. However such model of w/s is a pricious diamond having no it's subsitude/alternate of it. Import of such guns be re-opened from UK/Turkey by the Indian Govt. Thank u Mr David. Kuldip. Jamwal. Indian Army, EME(Retd)
Thanks for download . I just got a Spanish Essex 12g with 1/4 and 1/2 chokes . Yes it’s got marks but is tight and barrels are clean and I’m going to shoot the hell out of it . Cost £45 . If I like it which I’m sure I will I may invest in a better quality gun but I’m still going to shoot it . I don’t see the point in it sitting in a cabinet looking all nice . They are made for shooting and that’s what I’m going to do . Clays or game if I’m lucky . It’s all good 😌
Good time to buy them now due to probability of steel shot only law , i know gun shops that will not touch them now because the re sale value has dropped. I would not put steel through my best English boxlock,as mostly fibre wad regulations on shoots here, steel on steel ask any engineer, All the best David.
Thank you David for a great video I really love your videos regarding side by side shotguns does that webley have a game rib and what are the chamber lengths also alot of people dislike the webley 700s because they have a solid hinge pin I don't see that as a problem. What are your thoughts? Thanks once again keep up the good work.
Interesting vid'. Thanks👍 I recently purchased my first side by side, a double trigger boxlock by T Page Wood of Bristol. What cartridge loads are recommended/safe?
What about steel shot issue? I have a Westley Richards detachable lock single trigger gold name, sleeved unfortunately with case. Thought it's not going to be worth much due to the possible ban on lead. What's your thoughts please . Kind regards
I must add that I don’t care a whit about the tradition of the SxS. There is a reason they were so popular years ago. The two barrel sighting plan is like a V shaped road pointing right at the flying bird, naturally aligning the eye. The single sighting plane argument is just marketing hype. The SxS is the fastest shotgun you can handle for upland hunting. My 12 gauge weighs in at 6.54 lb. So it is a delight to carry over hill and dale. Sure, in the goose blind I shoot a semi in camo, but there is no beauty to it.
I am looking to buy and use a side by side, live in America and have handled a CSMC (Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Co) SS 28 bore. What are your thoughts on this gun and the company? The gun will be used for sporting clays sports bird hunting and even trap.
I inherited my grandad's side by side shotgun. Glad I did because it is one of the nicest guns I've ever shot. It is a Manufrance Robust model 222 from 1963.
side by side like sport cars have to be english not two ways about it but spanish side by side come close some maybe better ARRIETA GRULLA ect to mi opinion are in par to HOLLAND AND HOLLAND I own many shot guns o/u and s/s mi favourite one is a W.R.LEESON round action superb engraving and checkering hammer 12 g

Nice looking piece. Looks like the wood has been properly re-done. My main concern is always how tightly the gun locks up and the condition of triggers and safety.
Thank you.
It’s funny how they’ve become so popular over lockdown. Since I’ve pulled out my old Bernardelli for a few clay days. I love that gun.

Thank you.

How old does a shotgun be before you should switch from using any standard off the shelf load to an antique lighter load?

So what year and model is that Webley & Scott SxS shotgun you have just demonstrated?
What about steel shot issue?
I have a Westley Richards detachable lock single trigger gold name, sleeved unfortunately with case. Thought it's not going to be worth much due to the possible ban on lead.
What's your thoughts please .
Kind regards

Good investment may be, but what price is your W&S SxS?

Great advice. Tried really hard yesterday but I am very battered and bruised today on cheek, shoulder and inside upper arm.
I inherited my grandad's side by side shotgun. Glad I did because it is one of the nicest guns I've ever shot. It is a Manufrance Robust model 222 from 1963.

Buy one with barrel measurements above 23. Thousand and if you don’t want to bore it out buy a quarter half gun, standard steel will be fine
