Hillsdale College is an independent institution of higher learning founded in 1844 by men and women “grateful to God for the inestimable blessings” resulting from civil and religious liberty and “believing that the diffusion of learning is essential to the perpetuity of these blessings.” It pursues the stated object of the founders: “to furnish all persons who wish, irrespective of nation, color, or sex, a literary, scientific, [and] theological education” outstanding among American colleges “and to combine with this such moral and social instruction as will best develop the minds and improve the hearts of its pupils.” As a nonsectarian Christian institution, Hillsdale College maintains “by precept and example” the immemorial teachings and practices of the Christian faith.
The College also considers itself a trustee of our Western philosophical and theological inheritance tracing to Athens and Jerusalem, a heritage finding its clearest expression in the American experiment of self-government under law.
By training the young in the liberal arts, Hillsdale College prepares students to become leaders worthy of that legacy. By encouraging the scholarship of its faculty, it contributes to the preservation of that legacy for future generations. By publicly defending that legacy, it enlists the aid of other friends of free civilization and thus secures the conditions of its own survival and independence.

The apostle Paul had been a student of Gamaliel, who'd been a disciple of Aristotle. Paul exhibited joy practicing excellence thru fiery trials, a testimony of happiness walking with the Holy Spirit.

Happiness seems to be an elusive experience that is subjective to perspective and one's ability to recognize the fleeting moment that it is obtainable.

    "How many times
Have you heard a man say
'If I had his money, Id do things my way.'
But little does he know, its so hard to find
    one rich man in ten,
    With a satisfied mind."

“He who knows himself is truly happy.” Self-knowledge consists in realizing that we have a heart or spirit which is absolutely perfect, but which has been covered with dust by the accumulation of passions derived from the body and its animal nature. The essence of oneself is likened to a perfect mirror which if polished would reveal one’s true divine nature. The key to this polishing is the elimination of selfish desires and the adoption of a contrary desire to do what is right in all aspects of one’s life. As he writes, “the aim of moral discipline is to purify the heart from the rust of passion and resentment till, like a clear mirror, it reflects the light of God.” (Al Ghazali)

Sound learning? Only if you cloak it under a right wing, Jesus-loving, totally skewed curriculum that has an 1800's framework. At Hillsdale all the good in the world circumvents back to Hillsdale and its apologetic teachings. It looks good on the surface, as does all confidence games. But there it is, the Hillsdale message cloaked in the love for an imaginary deity. If you feel warm and cozy with the Hillsdale bilge, it's probably too late. You've taken too big of a gulp from their Kool-Aid.
