As an avid CSGO player I have to say you guys did a great job explaining a very complicated system thats very hard to understand even if you play a lot of counter strike, great video as always guys!
Thanks. We definitely had to learn a crash course of the underbelly of the scene.
Missed something...There's a class action lawsuit against Valve because they allow people's accounts to be linked with these gambling sites. They are apart of the problem and unfortunately they didn't discuss this point. They just kinda let Valve off the hook.
I think that's a corollary issue, while still important.
While you could say that the events tie into each other, I can't imagine this will effect Valve. While its still early Valve seems confident that nothing will come from the class action law suit.
It is important to remember that Valve has an estimated worth of 3 Billion, so they likely have a large team of lawyers on retainer. They saw the rise of CSGO gambling and surely had time to protect them selves from a system that they created.
In contrast CSGO wild seems to be completely imploding. They no longer allows users from NA and I believe a few european nations to gamble on the site. Assuming no legal action comes to CSGO wild they won't be able to survive the bad pr they're seeing now, and new gambling cites will hopefully take note. So I believe CSGO Wild is where the controversy lies, not with valve
Congrats on your 200,000! Love the podcast and t-rex arms.
I was waiting all day for an upload, pat. This was definitely worth the wait! Congrats on 200,000 too!
One of the reasons I love you guys, you disclose up front if there's a sponsorship, and you guy's are about as real as it gets. Keep up the good work Pat and Ian.
Good to hear Ian's voice is back to normal. :)
Puberty is finally over
are dating Ian or something, calm down
Tmar tried to claim that he was always honest about being a part of the site, yet there is video proof of him talking about the site for the first time on his channel, and he is all like "Oh hey guys, I just found this cool CS betting site, and it's a lot of fun. I'm gonna follow them on twitter." ect. Total scum bags.
It's not like he can delete that prove anymore, every person going after him has already downloaded the video or at least recorded him saying that.
Khrist on a pony.
I think it is even more damming that they retroactively altered the video descriptions in an attempt to promote the idea that they always disclosed the ownership.
Shame that Google caches the dates these descriptions are changed though.... fail.
Your analogy about reviewing a game that you own was actually something that Syndicate got in trouble for doing a while back.
Source: H3h3's video or MundaneMatt's video on this topic I can't remember which.
it was h3h3
Matt isn't smart to make an insight like that so it was definitely h3h3.
Also, early congrats for 200k subs milestone. :)
I love when Pat does the knife set sellers voice hahahaha reminds me of them late night informercials selling baseball cards and knives dead on impression, it should be a reoccuring shtick for sure!
WE GOT GEM MINT TENS PEOPLE. SEE THIS SMALL PIECE OF CARDBOARD WITH MARK MCGWIRE ON IT ITS WORTH MORE THAN YOUR LIFE. WATCH ME CUT IT WITH THIS TEN PIECE KNIFE SET.
Hahahaha spot on!
Congrats Pat you reached 200k!!!👏👏👏
"this is where it gets wiered" starts having audio problems:p great vid as always but that killed me:p
pat I feel like your channel has been blowing up lately it's about fucking time you guys are awesome.
Good video. I knew about this scandal, but didn't know the basics behind how CS:GO gambling works.
A few months back these guys walked. The FTC did change some of its policies regarding these types of sites, yet the two they could have punished to set an example walked with no punishment. Guess it pays to be rich AND stupid sometimes.
Cmon Pat, they incorporated the company in Florida. These two are definitely getting jail time.
/raging justice boner
The problem is that one lives in the UK.
jawa64ify I know what Im saying it might be hard to arrest someone in another country
I wish you were right, for serious crimes, people should get serious punishment. But i bet they will get no jail time or any punishment except maybe some notice to stop what they are doing.
BTW this is their reaction to this "This has been such a humbling experience. Live, learn, and grow." i don't think they feel bad about it.
***** espn.go.com/esports/story/_/id/16790802/gaming-personalities-embroiled-counter-strike-gambling-scandal
I played CS:GO a lot (over 900 hours on "in-game" timer), but this is not a game anymore. Its fest of people using cheats in game, kids who don't give a f*** to learn basics of game mechanics, people who use malware to steal inventory and people who use their parent credit card to waste their hard ear money. The thing you mentioned is only top of the iceberg, and yet the game is very popular. Not to mention Valve (developer of CS:GO) don't care to patch bugs that last for YEARS, but spam community with new skins that selling/buying/stealing become more goal of game, than planting/defusing bomb... I'm glad you talked about this, and it's good too see that people like You, Nerd or Nostalgia can build their carrier on being into something (games, old games, movies, board games, etc) and sharing their knowledge/enthusiasm, not being just greedy motherf****r.
FunFact: CS:GO is spelled with the letters C, S, G and O
Do you have a source for that or are you just going to spew bullshit without any data to back it up?
+juntistik There is no source
+Main Negi I question your claims you hack fraud
+Main Negi Fuck outta here, phony!
Source was the one before GO
oh Ian, Syndicate DID give and good review to a shit game that he owned
fucking Pro Syndicate got in trouble with the FTC already for not disclosing he worked on the game "Dead Realm" in his videos promoting it.
yeah this is his 3rd strike..
Thegamerguy123 really?
Yeah, forgot what the first was but i think whiteboy7thst mentioned it in his video
Thegamerguy123 wow. the dude is a piece of work. At least the other UA-camrs who worked on "Dead Realm" disclosed that fact in all their videos of playing it. Seems like ProSyndicate is a natural born fraud committer
I hate the dude, but to be fair, the first "strike" was because Machinima (his MCN) told him to not disclose that it was a brand deal between Machinima partners and Microsoft to promote the Xbox One. The FTC basically absolved him of responsibility for that.
Great vid and congrats on 200k.
wow pat ive never seen you this worked up! great video!
"Oh the gun's the same, it just looks different." Fuckin love you Ian hahaha you too Pat, keep doin what you do! Good shit always!
you're like a full sized Peter Dinklage!
Something interesting I noticed about TMARTN's original video is that after he says he "found" the website he also says that the owners behind the website want to approach him for a sponsership deal. It's like he was already anticipating the possible backlash and thought that would be enough to cover his ass.
I like how most big UA-camrs get away with that shit, but when small channels do it they get in trouble for it.
the business was registered in florida or something, so it wasn't an "offshore" operation, they're subject to US law because the company is a company in this country. if i made a company in germany then i would be subject to german law. same with bird law.
But where are the website's servers operating?
from the information ive been able to gather from the ip address and whois information its most likely hosted somewhere in california. from the information i have seen theres no reason for me to think its located out of the united states. also pat if you would like id be more then happy to message you and get you caught up with exactly how the steam market place and things like this work, as it seems like you were a bit unsure. if you like i could break it all down for you. thanks for reading my comment.
Classic 3 Card Monte. You have your accomplice "win" a bunch, to work up the marks, and then you cash it.
They seemed to forget you need to vanish the next day to make it work.
I'm glad right away that you guys mentioned that H3H3 didn't find this out, but rather brought someone's research into this shit to a greater audience with his sub count. I would suggest linking to HonorTheCall's channel so this guy can get even more exposure for the good work he did.
Love to see Ian and Pat once again calling these derelicts out on their shady practices. Keep it up guys!
I just cooked a bowl of popcorn.
Luckily, Pat brought the salt...
T-Mar-T-N LMAO gotta love that Pat is both a part of the YT community while also being oblivious to it.
As I've said elsewhere, the only thing that shocks me is that it took this long for a rigged gambling scheme to be exposed in gaming. I expected it almost immediately after competitive gaming became a thing.
audio sounds weird. Sometimes clips out for a second and sometimes repeats audio very slightly.
Love ya Patrick, been following you for years. Definitely one of my favorite people on these internets 😉✌️
200k subs congrats!
I'm glad Paul Dano is taking such a hard stance on these guys scamming people.
Pat, what's wrong with your mic? You almost always get cut off by it.
6:03 This is exactly what a lot of devs from Harmonix did when the reviews for Rock Band 4 were tanking on Amazon. They flooded the merchant pages for anything RB4 related with 5 star reviews. Absolutely disgusting.
Audio is a bit weird on this one. Nonetheless, love these videos, guys!
Grats on 200k subs
13:11 and the awkward moment of the year goes to...
Spider Tmartn played the tenor saxophone
Little Projectsyndicate was blowin' on the slide trombone
The drummer boy from Illinois went crash, boom, bang
The whole rhythm section was the Purple Gang
Let's rock, everybody, let's rock
Everybody in the whole cell block
Was dancin' to the Jailhouse Rock
I think this is my favourite podcast
Pat's starting to look like Tyrion Lannister/Pete Dinklage with that beard.
I love it when pat gets righteously pissed off cause it's usually Ian that go's over the top with it. More stories like this please.
"I love nipple fraud." Probably the best thing I heard all day.
congrats on getting 200k!
I just found this channel an its great!!! new subscriber.
The simultaneous nipple-rubbing portion of this video needs to be a GIF.
As a young teenager my buddies and I would put up comic books to win in games of pool. I don't remember ever feeling awful about it. Playing for weapon skins is just an even lamer example of the same thing.
Is that a Bundaberg ginger beer there Ian? Good call sir!
I just figured something out Ian is a late 70's burnt out San Francisco hippie and Pat is a early eighties narc
This whole situation is just completely ridiculous. Never would've happened if they didn't implement pointless fucking skins and require you to pay for them, ON TOP of having to pay for the game.
Funny actually. I have a friend of a friend who gambled on one of these sites and lost something like 10-25 thousand dollars in skins. Fucking waste of time and money.
You're not _required_ to pay for the skins. They're completely optional. If anything, it's a bonus because you can get a few cents for selling off case drops. If people want to waste their money to open them, that's their choice.
Yes. I agree with that. I just personally think it's idiotic.
***** You can choose the ones you want if you buy from the community market, but, however, they may cost upwards of thousands of dollars, which pulls people towards "gambling"
this happens because servers cost money to run. once they sell all the initial units, they'd get no more money. they say thy need the micro transactions to pay for server upkeep. if they didnt keep getting money, they'd close the server. servers cost money to run. I dont know what the solution is...
I remember back in way old school counter strike I'm talking about CS version 1 back in 2001 where you can just download skins and put them into the game for free.
Syndicate was one my favorites a few years back...I feel betrayed.
I actually used to be subscribed to TmarTn way back for his CoD videos and then unsubscribed when I got bored of CoD. Almost didn't remember him when this whole scandal started.
PSspecialist me too
Congrats at 200K viewers.... Again...
13:10 DO THE SALAMANDER! NYEEES!
6:00 That's what happens with a lot of steam greenlight games unfortunately.
I wanna hear that bouncy ball story. Seems like Pat has some pent-up frustrations.
Guys, I think you mixed up ProSyndicate and PSISyndicate around the ten minute mark.. They are different.
I adore passionate Pat. Pulls all the stops.
Pat, you just spit straight fire. I love it.
The worst thing is that Valve has encouraged and enabled shit like this.
Valve just enabled trading, which is perfectly fine. But then some people began to abuse it...
CSGO loot crate, is a damn scam also. I gave my 12yo nefew 80 dollars of steam gift cards, for his Bday. and he spent it all on these keys to open a god damn virtual crate in a game he paid for. He didn't even win what he wanted. I thought he was going to buy games with his gift. I'm buying him a baseball glove next time.
I had no idea Bundaberg was a brand outside of Australia
Betting cosmetic items on a match in a game has been around forever
Okay, who is actually paying hundreds of dollars for a video game gun skin? I'm actually curious.
Who is actually paying hundreds of dollars for a rare NES game that sucks?
Touche
Noah Nesbitt idk, i don't have that kind of expendable cash haha
People actually do, you'd be surprised. Those same people are how free to play games stay afloat, people will spend hundreds of dollars on that shit lol.
I was wondering that too, it seems that some Dubai collectors have been forking over actual money (thousands) for some rare knife skins. I think most people just trade skins and gamble them instead of spending flat out on a skin.
And here I was thinking this was about match fixing or whatever. This is even more pathetic.
This is the price for UA-cam fame. Some handle it better than others, but let this be a learning step here.
Let me tell ya. Papa Pat looks a lot more buff with that beard. You look great man.
He also just removed his new apology video lmao
Tmartn*
huehue
Fuck yeah Gunsmith Cats
*****
Muh nigga
***** What a scum bag.
the worst part is if he wouldve just came out and told his subscribers "hey guys I just started a new website csgolotto where you can gamble on skins and its a lot of fun! you guys who like csgo should go check it out!. heres what it looks like to play!" then no one would care and hed still get to promote his site to millions.
great video guys, i retweeted it from ARMARDA1
These should be listed as "SCUMBAG SELLER OF THE WEEK"
They also charged at 8% commision on every transaction on the gambling site. They cannot lose.
I just don't understand how DLC costumes (which is all this is) are worth any money anyhow. I really don't understand gaming anymore.
Pat, it's not just the FTC who will come after them. This is the ASA's (UK's equivalent to the FTC) rules from their website:
The word "programme" is used to define any content
genres in which product placement is permitted: films; television series; sports programmes; *internet content* and light entertainment programmes. It expressly *prohibits product placement in programmes specifically aimed at a young audience*, and in religious, current affairs, and consumer affairs programmes that are produced under UK jurisdiction.
Programmes produced or *broadcast* under UK jurisdiction prohibit the product placement of cigarettes or other tobacco products and prescription-only medicines, products associated with smoking (such as cigarette lighters and papers), alcoholic drinks, foods or drinks which are high in fat, salt or sugar, *gambling*, all medicinal products and infant and follow-on formulae in all programmes.
Pat, seems James/AVGN is rubbing off on you, hehe.
Best one yet! More power to you and Ian.
I think the worst thing about them is that they are for the most part going about acting like nothings wrong with what they did, and most of their fans are supporting them!
I hope they do a update video on this cause I saw this on CNN about this CSGO gambling thing
pat reliving his childhood on the jersey shore :)
I've never seen Pat so mad...:(.
those two youtubers that are promoting their own site should be kicked in the nuts
Usually animals expose their bellies when they are afraid.
They rub their nipples and make "jokes".
Kota Ibushi is one of the best wrestlers in the world today. I have faith that WWE will recognize his talent and that he will go on to win the Cruiserweight Classic.
Cheetahmen 2 Kickstarter.
culwin
With all the glitches, same problems. The only thing "fixed" was adding in the two levels and changing the level names.
this is a lot like the old runscape flower game scam except with real money
Where was Pat going with the ball example?
Those people are famous and got money, even if something were to happen to them.. ( which i doubt), they just wont care all that much.
I guess its too hard to be rich and famous without being a shitty person.
Because it's not the parents job to discourage children from gambling, it's the job of large companies like Valve to prevent it.
The way these guys got caught was awesome.
back in my day, you paid 50 bucks for a videya game and that was that. no extra $$$ for dlc. no extra $$$ for skins. no grambling on skins.
love to see how these scumbags try to defend themselves against the court system since we know this is where it's hopefully going to go.
say what you will about the opinions Pat and Ian have from time to time, these UA-cam scumbags deserve all the rage these two are dishing out at these scammers.
Oh God, this gambling thing is worse than Train Simulator
my friend is 12 and lost 100s of dollars betting
Have his parents file a lawsuit. They have a really big case on these fuckers.
Also smack your friend in the face, like a real friend would. He is an idiot.
This is why 12 year olds shouldn't play M rated games. We tell you and you just don't listen.
No, your friend's parents lost 100s of dollars by giving their child unrestricted access to their finances.
Well, you can find systems to make them go crazy on spending money in other games as well. Just look at EAs Ultimate Team modes for their sportsgames. They are far from being M rated.
Shit, ive never seen Pat so upset!!
Watched it on UA-cam, must be legit! 😂😂😂😂
It's not psySyndicate, it was The Syndicate.
2 subscribers away from reaching 200,000.... a second time
You can connect your steam account to various websites.
Humble-bundle used to do this as a way to get games you've purchased added to your steam account. They used to just give you cd-keys, and they've since gone back to just giving out cd-keys.
I'm pretty sure that valve has to permit these entities the right to do this.
