Forefathers' Eve is an actual old ritual from slavic culture and its goal was to help lost souls find their way to afterlife. it's also the title of series of drama poems written by most renown polish author Adam Mickiewicz who lived and wrote in 18th century. :)
i remember we were reenacting scenes from it in middle school and i was actually the pellar cause my friend couldn't learn his lines
@jxStn You have 5 stages for each witcher armor (4 in main game, and 5th in second DLC Blood and Whine)
1:35 Roche is one of the most important NPC from Witcher 2, and this is where he and Ves meet Geralt first time. Of course it's possible to play W3 without knowledge about books nor W1/W2 but... it make you miss a lot of inne-puns and references, for example Zoltan, Dandelion and Triss are in books and all three games, Kalkstein (alchemist who helped Dandelion to make a bomb and then end fried ) is NPC from W1, and that wizard girl who burned on your first visit in Novigrad was merchant from W2... etc etc
That's why reading books in W3 is so immersion-friendly - some describe lore about world, other things from Geralt's past... I suggest checking on these even if off-screen :D
5:08 Vernon was commander of temerian special forces, Blue Stripes, and he still wear his uniform... you even have card in gwent desck (northern kingdoms) that show these boys, it's 4-strenght with bond ability ;)

13:30 every deck on gwent have one special ability:
- Northern kingdom - after you win round you gain one random card from your deck
-Nilfgard - if on some round you have tie nilfgard wins
-Monsters - after each round one random card stay on the battlefield
-Scoiatel - you decide who start

And as I noticed somebody already told you about Forefathers' eve, I gotta add its f great seeing the devs care about polish and slavic culture and incorporate it in the game everywhere! Forefathers eve was really popular in slavic countries, even nowadays where I live the theatre throws a play based on Adam Mickiewicz's Forefathers' eve on a cementary 😭 Its cool af! Thank you for the playthrough again!
You could've witnessed the reunion between the old lady on the bridge and her deceased husband if you'd used the Magic Lamp from Keira. But you rushed away and didn't see the telltale green sparkles.

@@tuldorelow9687 I do it here and there, definitely need to do it more often. My brain is always moving onto the next thing sometimes it’s hard to slow down 😅
@ Ok... so few things you may have missed:
- remember your first two witcher gear swords from white orchid, viper school? Ladies in front of inn talk about some tale from old days... about witcher who died in crypt and who had these diagrams with him...
- people in front of Hattori shop (elven smith, you have quest for him) talked about one of his swords and how he stopped his business (this talk is unique because it start quest you may otherwise start by talking to him, or asking about master smith here or there)
- wanted to go to putrit grove? There is indeed third way - by tunnels under city... aand... NPC talk about it near place where you have meet Triss with her shackles
- people in Novigrad talk about something that kill humans in town... at least till you finish carnal sins
and so on and so on...
it's rare to hear conversation that NOT mention some quest/lore/story about place you are) :'D
I also tried to run around on my first time with W3, just later I figured out how much I lose this way :D
Whose side are you on anyway? [Book/Game lore]: Geralt and all his friends are from various countries in the 'Northern Realms', which in W3 is being invaded for the third time by the Nilfgaardian empire to the South. At the start of the game it's therefore natural that Vesrmir refered to the Norther Realms as 'our side'. Witchers are traditionally neutral though - in the mercenary sense of working for whoever pays - so Geralt responds with "We have a side?" (Mages have their own interests, and work for whoever they want). Things are slightly complicated that Emgyr, the emperor of Nilfgaard, is the natural father of Geralt & Yenn's adopted daughter, Ciri, and paying them to find her but neither of them feel any sort of debt or loyalty to him or his empire beyond that mission (which they'd do just for Ciri's sake anyway). Geralt's view would be "Meh, I'm not at war with them but I'm not on their side either". [Book example]: Geralt's knighthood as 'Geralt of Rivia' was awarded to him by Queen Meve of Lyria (a Northern Realm) for winning 'the battle of bridge' against the Nilfgaardians. While Geralt was happy to take the honour and benefits, he'd only fought across the bridge to continue his search for Ciri and wasn't interested in the war or battle at all, per se.
Man when you did that dwarf stance when you said they meant business I laughed so hard my Dr pepper come out of my nose another great video believe me I've beat the game and all DLCs the fun that you are having is only just beginning this game is going to bring you so much enjoyment you're going to be blown away haha

Medic + decoy can be a powerful combination. Let's say you have 2 powerful cards (preferably spies) in your graveyard - you use the medic (1st strong card returns to the board) in the next round you take the medic back with a decoy and play it again (2nd powerfull card comes back).
Also Emhyr is a massive piece of shit.

in the white orchard inn there was a professor you could play against, he got hung at the hanged man's tree and you can find a card you would've won from him (it's bellow him with some book if i'm not mistaken?)
dwarven spirit is always worth grabbing causw you use one everytime you meditate
you use dwarwen spirit (or alkhast if you not have spirit) only if you have some used potions/decotions - 1 bottle of alcohol is used to fill them up again. :)
I’m loving this playthrough. One of the best I’ve seen in a while. Keep it up man!
The merchant in the King of Beggars place sells the best saddlebag in base game.
Also, saddlebags are heavy. Sell the old and unused saddlebags at the first opportunity.
If you want more specific Gwent Cards you need to be playing the best cardsmiths in each region. There should be a Gwent related quest for each something like Novigrad Player's Velen Player's. Plus there's Zoltan's card quest. + taking on every merchant blacksmith and inkeep between the Yaruga and Dol Blanthana.
Add that scorch card to your deck!
Ready for Skellige? [Opinion with a tiny spoiler]: Yep, head there when ready. Travel tip: Until you know your way around, stay on the roads in Skellige because the islands are very mountainous and shortcuts often end-up in dead-ends at the top or bottom of cliffs. [Just so you know] Act 1 of the game is designed for you to do White Orchard (beginner's area), Velen, Novigrad, and Skellige. Don't worry if you leave '?' points of interest or even some quests behind because you'll revisit these places later [
It would be good to quicksave... you could have reloaded and win the horse race...but okk... it is what it is now.

Winning the Cleaver race gives you race horse blinders and 700 crowns
You were right to pick the cards, even if there weren't any cards for the northern realms you'd wanna pick the cards. Had you taken the coin instead you would've failed the "Collect Them All" quest. With this in mind you should go back to Hanged Mans Tree and pick up a Gwent card there that's laying on the ground.
You are kinda working for Emhyr looking for Ciri but he's not really your ally. Roche is a long time friend from previous games. You do lots of missions with different parties who aren't friendly with each other throughout the whole game.

Sell your seddels and sadlebags, thay are worst than what you have, and some can weigh upwards of 10 kilos
Bro if you think the game is pretty now just wait until Skellige. And if you think Skellige is pretty just wait until Toussaint. This is the best game of all time.
So what do you think? Is this the most amazing game ever? Where else can you fight monsters, play cards, fist fight, horse race, act in a play, watch a performance.... Wait until you experience the mood and music of Skellige.

Most of the time when someone is running from you using the mind control thing will make them stop. Not always though some stuff is scripted to a certain location. Also sell those extra saddles n shit bro they eat into your carry weight bad.
You will run into rondvid like 3 more times. Each time gets more challenging. Still a punk though.
